Verlander getting an extension..
If this is truly the plan then we should expect another 2-3 years of full on tanking. The Sox will need to continue to stock the farm with top 5 draft picks. Hopefully they can flip Rodon, Herrera, and Colome for some useful pieces as well.

Palk Smash!
Who really cares about Alonso's vesting option? The Sox are gonna need a DH in 2020. Alonso will be right in the Sox price range as well.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Cain and Chacin were FA after 2016.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Laroche retired early and they had other money coming off the books so the payroll would have been lower. The Brewers didn't have to completely tear down in order to build a winner. It can be done. Just not by Hahn and company.

White Sox Sign Alcides Escobar
Neither Coats nor LaMarre will be with either organization in two months.

White Sox Sign Alcides Escobar
Chris Stewart is a catcher. Teams always have jetsam catchers in the minors.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Get a new front office and sign guys like Lowrie, Chacin, and Lorenzo Cain.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
It was definitely the right move for JR and company's bottom line. The decision to rebuild or not is a matter of opinion.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Scared money don't make money.

White Sox Sign Alcides Escobar
A supposedley top 5 farm system should have no room for players like Alcides Escobar.

Thoughts on the Sox shifting Moncada to 3b?
It is clearly up for debate whether Moncada will be "fine" at third. Remember when Gordon Beckham was the clearly the White Sox future at second base? Jerking around one of the most important pieces of your rebuild for a kid who hasn't even played a single game in AA is not a wise move.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
It's really too bad that someone held a gun to Rick Hahn's head and forced him to trade away the greatest pitcher in White Sox history. Hahn should have at least filed a grievance with the league over that.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Signing all 4 of those guys is delusional and will never happen.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Goldschmidt signed a 4 year extension with St Louis. The Sox will spread their FA spending, if it even happens at all, out over 3-4 guys in the Markakias, Matt Carpenter, Zack Wheeler range. I also fully expect Abreu to get a 40 to 50 million dollar extension.

Thoughts on the Sox shifting Moncada to 3b?
What is Moncada's natural and preferred position to play?

Eloy officially got paid
Seems like it. Eloy is already on the same tier as Arenado, Bryant, and Trout according to some on this board. Downright ludicrous thinking in my opinion. These are the same guys were pegging Gordan Beckham as the next Jeff Kent.

Giolito/Cease
Yep. He isn't blocking anyone this year. Let the kid get 25-30 starts in another tank/developmental year. 2019 should be his last call for figuring things out though. Hopefully the Sox start caring about winning actual baseball games in 2020.

Will Nick "The Little Magician" Madrigal be called up this year?
Not a chance in hell. He won't be the starting second baseman Opening Day 2020 either.

2019 MLB draft thread

Eloy officially got paid
No risk, no reward. What if he turns into Thor or Luis Severino?

Eloy officially got paid
Now that Eloy has signed on the dotted line, who else from the future "core" should the Sox lock up? Dylan Cease seems to make the most sense if he dominants at Charlotte this year.

Eloy officially got paid
LMAO. I"ll go with Mark Salas. He's the same dude who kept insisting that the Padres weren't a real threat for Machado because of some debt obligations on Petco Park. Either Ron Fowler never read his memo or Manny agreed to play for 300 million dollars of monopoly money.

Eloy officially got paid
The Cubs won 97 games and made it all the way to the NLCS during year 4 of their rebuild. Will the Sox even be a 500 team next year? How did the Cubs do it? Magic? Harry Potter Wizardry? Good ol fashioned New Orleans voodoo?

Predictions on how much WAR Mr. Jimenez puts up over the life of this contract (assuming both option years are picked up)? Over or under 30WAR? I'll take the over but barely.
