  1. Fact is, the so called African-Iraq thing was known by the White House to bediscredited in October 2002. The inclusion of it in the State of the Union was disingenuous at best and blantentlly suborning truth for political agendas at worst in order to play a nuclear card in the State of the Union speech. Given the history of this country, the statement on equality is ludicrous. Equality was not built into the US Constitution, amd the struggle for equality has been long and arduous and we have a long way yet to go. Your statements on the ACLU are pure lies. I am 26 years now a member of the clergy of the Christian Church and a proud 5 year member of the ACLU, wishing only I had been a member much longer. However, I will agree with Hail! to the Victors Valient!
  2. where were you holding the mirror when you typed that? :puke :puke :puke
  3. Damn, CW. You beat me to that. There is a very good reason for that actually, while it is against the Geneva convention it is illegal to show pictures of POW's (which is what the outrage was over, not dead Americans), it is NOT illegal to show pics of dead combatants. bulls*** the definition of a soldier vs enemy combatant vs whatever is in this adminsitration emrely whatever it wants it to be from the lies that were told in a constitutionally mandated speech to the fluid and convenient redefinitions of whatever is the public relations need de jour, there is no moral or ethical or legal consistency going on here the neat little "it serves this administration's purposes today" distinctions are falliong on deaf ears in this country let alone the rest of the world
  4. so did Vince Foster but the conspiracy theorists run amuck and payback is hell
  5. no one has explained why cries of outrage when Iraq showed pictures of dead Americas - evil barbarians, need regime change we said - and why it is so ok for the US to show pictures of dead Iraqis - on that's right, our motives are always pure and without question while other people are just plain evil the hypocrasy of this thing gets more blatent every day
  6. What are you saying with this? Here, we are worried with other importants things, like poverty, unemployment... Saudi Arabia is a country that has good relations with USA, because if they didnt have it, they would be the next one. Here in Brazil, we have another vision about Bush, much different than your vision. And this not just me that are agst Bush and is saying what i am saying. The USA is the number 1 country in the world that consumates oil, this is not strange for you. If i could write english better... your English is just fine so are your understandings of things thank you for your posts
  7. hmmm, I missed it when the 10 commandments became contrrabnd and criminals received better treatment than victims (other than all the "we love the honorable Kobe, she is a slut" posts here). Oh well.

  9. I like yours, soxheads - I assume that in real life they would be a bit bigger, normal baseball card size, which would make graphics as easy to read as a regular card
  10. Jon Garland from Chicago magazine: Residence: South Loop After a game he unwinds “by taking a long soak in the Jacuzzi.” His hero is his mom. What happens in the locker room “stays in the locker room.” Email Jon at [email protected]
  11. no one has recalled Davis. the issue is being put to a vote - if the vote is yes, davis is recalled, not until then. petitions to have a recall election is all that people signed. the recall will lose.
  12. Of course Davis was re-elected in November 2002. The Republicans lost. What has changed since then? Nothing but opportunism and a sickening sense that they know better than the people. The special recall/election will cost the state of California what, $30-$40 million for an election not even a year after the election - typical republican fiscal insanity - plus the millions of dollars spent on the campaigns and the time not spent solving problems but in campaigning. Yeah, real smart. They tried to undo the 1996 national election. Now they go for it in California - undo an election. They have no shame. They lost - but they can't take it. Whine babies - and arrogant beyond belief.
  13. every state has had that type opf reversal, Jas - calidfornians always think they are so unique. Your deficit is $$$ larger because you have the biggest state - but every state is going throught the same thing. It is not at all unique to Davis or California. Every state.
  14. I just heard the Lt Governor bacxked down and both things are on the ballot the same day. And the congressman is in and already filed - imagine that. I'll bet you $20 Jas - Davis stays.
  15. put me down as one who regrets losing Webster
  16. No nomination - no primary - the single election will be winner take all - Arnold has been gearing up for this for several years although he was planning on 2006, which is why that congressman is trying to juke him now. No way the Republicans would nominate Arnold under the usual scenario? All I can say is former governor Ronald Reagan, former senator George "Tap Dancing" Murray (before your time but during mine), former mayor Clint Eastwood... and the leading 2006 Dem candidate is Rob Reiner. Arnold was their best chance of winning in 2006 based on a 2003 perspective.
  17. funny, in a whole thread of all blame cast on Davis, you never interjected a word about fairness and balance until the Republicans get named. Actually I presented some very worthwhile informatyion that gives balance to what has been posted. Agree or not with some of my conclusions, the machinations and facts that I work from are worth udnerstanding as this is an important national issue, a dress rehersal for the 2004 election. And do not take this the wrong way cuz i like you - but the comment is exactly what I expect from anyone who votes Republican - lile cub fans who know nothing about baseball - all opinions and no facts, just one liners
  18. Spiff, be real. Every state in the country has severe econoimic problems. California had all those years of republican governors. There is a lot of politics at work here which I laid out, which you will not discuss or respond to other than to blame the Democrats. Wah wah, those bad bad Dems. Gees - that is why a Republican congressman is trying to front out Arnold in a special election less than year after the election? ust eb the Dems. Yeah that's right, that's the ticket. In a Limbaugh-ized world, one liners are all that suffice. No one compared you or your thinking to the actual Rush, just that one-liners are not an adequete response but America has gotten accustomed to the short sound byte.
  19. pretending to be Victoria Virgin Pure may be a Repubican's favorite public pose, but they are the same size whore as everyone else. Quit crying and be real. That was no resposne to anything except the typical one liner that is supposed to pass for thinking in a Limbaugh-ized world.
  20. No one has been recalled. No one. Petitions have been filed to force a recall elecvtion. Every state in the Union has massive budget problems this fiscal year. California's deficit is huge because it is the largest state, not because of anything done by the governor. The Republicans in Sacramento who refuse to apss ab udget may get a lot of blame however for exacerbating the problems. Remember back in 2000 all the crying by Republiocans about trying to "undo" an election? Their hypocrtasy exposed onmce again. The goverfnor was re-elected last November. The Republicans are trying to undo an election not even 9 months old. And if California has such huge budget problems, why put the state to the added financial burden of several special elections? Hypocrites all in elephant wear. Why? Because California tends to re-elect incumbants (you go back quoite a few years last time thnat did not happen) and the Republicans are trying to position themselves for 2011 - 8 years from now - when redistricting occurs. They also want to pour in vast financial resaources into California a year before the presidential election because they have lost California so miserably the past few elections. Also, young ones, don't be naive. The congressman who is pouring his staff into this recall is trying to get himself elected and ace out Arnold. If things went their normal course, Davis' term is up in 2006 and Arnold would run then as the prohibitive favorite at least well plalced against, say, Rob Reiner. However, the congressman has an election staff in place now and Arnold doesn't so it is easier for the congressman to slip into office now and block Arnold. Or do you think the congresman is operating out of sheer unselfish motives? Arnold may be left on the side totally, or there will eb a GOP bloodpath of the two sides trying to force each other out. As well, california law in this case makes it wasy for anyone to get on the ballot - you may face a bedsheet ballot. Funny how California Republiocans cry about the state's contion since prior to Davis' elections, they had what, 24 years of straight Republican governors - Reagan - Wilson - Djukmagian. If California is f***ed up, it is the Republicans' fault since they ruled for so long. California's special problem is Prop 13. For the arrogance to attempt to undo a just held election and add financial burdens to the state and to make it sound as if what is happening in califoirnia isn't helping everywhere (tahnks, G W Bush economy) and because of the Republican's refusal to work for the good of the state in Sacramento, I hope the recall people get their ass kicked. One might also consider that GOP memo that was leaked - the "do nbot cooperate" one. The california Sate Gop official party would rather see the peopleof California suffer for their politcal gain than try responsible government. Plus forgotten has been the one rfeality that california has a democtratic lieutant governor who ahs indicated that recall and election may not happen on the same day. Why has that little fact been overlooked? Do you think the Dem lt. governor is going to roll over and spread his cheeks for the Republcians? If recall is successful, guess who is acting governor? So if the recall is successful, what motive does the lt. governor have in holding a same day election? None whatsoever. In fcat, it is in his best interest to be inerim acting governor and thus be incumbent between recall and election. And a motivated Democratic electorate may bury all of these schemers and connivers.
  21. Sex Pistols touring sounds like a nostalgia band now. Howver, the Rev Horton Heat is always excellent.
  22. of course a higly competitive professional athelete who ahs has success is going to say what Koch did. Much better than having him say, "yeah, I'm no good and I'm not going to fight for my job back." That desire to lift the game to the next level is exactly where he should be.
