  1. There was a lot more booing for a lot more folks where I was sitting - with the addition of Varitek your list isn't bad at all and if it had been confined there, I'd have no problem with it, all rivals and the guy who beat out Frank int he 32nd man voting. I heard a lot of booing for Bonds, the Cards (why, they play the cubs), LaRussa (wtf was that about?) and others. And that was what I was and am unhappy about - anmd especially unahppy with the booing of our own, JM. Boo him 81 home games all one wants, but in my opinion, not at the All Star game.
  2. if the booing had been confined to the visitors team players - the NL squad - none of this discussion might be happening. But I would suggest there is a difference between havcing the twiunkies or cubs or yankees come ionto our hosue for a regualr season game and hosting the All Stars. I booed the cub all stars with everyone else - that is Chicago for you. But to boo so many others - classless. IMHO. And in my less than humble opinion also.
  3. I don't expect much in comprehension skills from anyone involved with the Illini. I did not state that PK's current problems were caused by last year's Home Run Derby, but get out stats, if you can, and look at what PK did prior to the 2002 home run derby and then, after - that is when his downturn began. Swinging for the fences exclusively does throw off the swing - which is why we get unhappy when in a game our batters swing away at the fences rather than make contact and get hits. Why his problems have continued is not something that I have ther explanation for. But his problems began with the home run derby. That is fact and you can look it up.
  4. the dudes sitting behind us were scrubs fans and went wild when Wood came in - Wood gave up a hit, then retired the side - the following inning the pitcher struck out the first AL batter and the scrubs fans started chanting "Kerry, Kerry, Kerry..." that is when we pointed out Ortiz was pitching - they are so utterly clueless as to what is taking place in a game!
  5. the home run derby is a gimmick and Bonds hits his home runs when it counts. The 3 he hit at USCF this season in games that count were impressive. The home run derby allowed younger players to get their names out there, fine. Bonds doesn't have to do that, and it could be considered gracious that he allows the younger players their place in that spotlight to further their public image. The home run derby throws off player's swings - witness PK last year, and since. If Bonds doesn't want to play these gimmicks and risk his swing, more power to him. The booing of Bonds was particularly classless considering he is on the greatest players in the game and will be remembered for his home run records long after anyone can remember who won any of the home run derbys.

    Bonds

I am late to this discussion. I heard Bonds say he is 37, and if he doesn't want to participate in a meaningless home run derby, then he doesn't have to. I totally agree. It is a gimmick, and it is for the young guys. Bonds participates in a home run derby in every game he plays in the regular season and that is all he needs to do. As it was, some younger players got their names out there more than before. And that is good.
  7. 81 home games to boo anyone and everyone from other teams you want but here it is the All Star Game - wtf was the point? of course I wonder how many of those booing last night show up for any of those 81 games I thought it was classless - there is a proper time and place for everything and last night was not the time for that - it was the only flaw in an otherwise fantastic couple of days

JM isn't going to replaced this season. It is too far gone in the season for a replacement to mean anything. What happens in any one series is not going to cause a manager to get fired. If JM gets replaced it will be at the end of the season not now. However it would be incredibly stupid to replace JM now. We still hear that our GM is on the way out. If we are going to make a change we need the new GM in place first and let the new GM hire the next manager. Hiring a manger if our GM is on the way out is backwards.
  9. Rex, I am with what I think you are saying here. Booing the cubs, one thing. Same even with the Yankees, twinkies, and royals (this year). I thought the rest of the booing was totally classless. But then again I am not 16 years old. However I am proud that my 8 year old grandson showed a lot more class than some of the fans.
  10. I'm not taking it personally BMR, so drop that approach I am pissed at hell that there is obviosuly not a damn thing that the Sox will ever do that will ever be reported truthfully and well what the f*** do we need to do to get good press when we get bashed by the media for producing a perfect event? the only flaw was the scoreboard was a few seconds slow on the totals after each swing when will our fans not assume the worst when they hear us get trashed?
  11. yes a lot of Sox fans there some cub fans fans from every other team based on what was being worn most people there sox fans cheering lustily for everything I had no use for the derby prior to its start; I was there only because it was part of the all star experience and I got caught up in it's excitment, it started slow (Sheffield couldn't hit until almost the end of his at bat in round one) but it got electric as it moved along
  12. I am not taking it personally. Why do our own fans beleiev this s***? CK I love you bro and you know it - but I am pissed at this stuff being reported. If the exact same thing took place at wrigley the praise would be ecstatic for the great evening at the shrine of baseball. It happens at the Cell and we are trashed. What the f*** has to happen before we get good press? Tonight could not have been more splendid. What the f*** does it take for us to get good press? What the f*** does it take for our own fans to stop assuming the worst and stop believing the cub media who who know lies about what happens in our park? When the f*** do we get the accolades when we exceed everything and bring home a perfect night?
  13. tonight I'll kill the messeenger as well as the fabricator of the message and live to regret it tomorrow. Just f***ing unbelivable that is being reported. Look at what people paid to see a home run derby. Damn it they wanted to see home runs and they were on top of each hit. When Pujols was swinging in the 2nd round the atmosphere was electric. People were on their feet for almost the entire derby and pulling for each batter so we could see more home runs. A the prices people paid, how could it be said or believed they were subdued. The cheers for the homers - especially Pujols - were matched only by the groans when he made an out since everyone wanted to see him break the record in the second round and tie Anderson in the third. Someone should call the reporters to account for their bulls***. I am for shooting the messenger tonight only bceause why believe that was true? Take the cost of each ticket, transportation, food, drinks, souvineers, all for a f***ing home run derby, damn believe the place was packed and on top of everything and loudly backing each player to hit home runs; it is what we paid to see - no one would pay that much money to sit on their hands.
  14. I think this needs to be said. I am really stunned to see the accusations against the crowd tonight. It was one of the best on top of everything aware involved crowds I have ever been in. Since I was there for 7 hours from when gates opened to when we left, too miuch happened to recapitualte and I'm too tirewd and too stunned to think that the crowd is being trashed for being fantastically on top of everything. The people there came to see batting practice and a home rund erby and paid what, $40-$60-$80 face value and more resale just to see these things - you ahd the purists and the stats people and all the real baseball fans and they were on top of every action that happened. Good night; I can't believe the crowd is being criticised.
  15. that's because it was the Ataris. I would have been quiet too. Like I said in my first post..you don't or didn't have to like the band "The Atari's" Just a courtesy applause..key word there....courtesy they got decent applause - more than decent - wtf are people who weren't there talking about? Maybe the tv mics were not placed right - they got no ovation but they got more than decent appluase - give me a break - no matter what happens, fantasy is made up for use in bulls*** attacks on our fans in attendance. What you think you se on tv ain't necessarily anything to do with reality . I walked out of there tonight so jacked up for the ASG itself in part because of the lively and aware crowd tonight, and I come back to read this stuff - wtf people?
  16. I am really pissed at this statement. Everyone was getting great crowd supprt - did his first at bat, his second when he tied the record the corwd was screaming for him to set it, and in the last round they were screaming for him to tie it so we could have sudden death - the idea that the crowd was quiet and needed to be told to cheer is pure absolute bulls*** and I am very unhappy I logged in here tonight since it ruins what was a perfect day at the Cell for me. Whatever was reported was utter lies from whoever said it. Ask Pujols what type of supprt he was getting - the polace was electric when he tied the record and the crowd was screaming for him to break it - ask Giambi who everyone was cheering on to tie Pujols - ask any of the 8 - everyone got great support for them to do well - Boone got a few good natured boos when he did so poorly, but everyone was pulling for every batter during their at bat, regardless of who it was, every batter had the crowd behind him. We as a crowd looked damn good tonight to everyone who was there.
  17. it is f***ing pathetic to believe that f***ing pathetic s***, CK. Come on, you know better that that. Every player got a bit of "a lets cheer for..." as normal and routine especially when they had no homers and 5 or more outs - but that wasn't because the crowd wasn't in the action. When Pujols neared the record of homers in an at bat session the crowd without being told was on its feet roaring - it was a very fun and lively crowd all day (having gotten there at 3 when kids were running bases) all through every event of the day. The park looked spectacular and I was very pleased as how the whole thing went tonight - I am stunned that anyone reports otherwise and stunned anyone automatically believes the worst. That was a lively fun place to be and the crowd was on top of everything.
  18. the crowd seemed dead to who? It was a very live crowd for those who were there, of which I was one. The crowd was into everything from long beofr batting practice on. I have no idea what you heard on tv but it was a beuatiful night with a lively crowd that was on top of everything was taking place. Maybe before judgment is given, remember what yiu see on tv may be far removed from reality.
  19. Uhhh no Vince sorry. let's try this again and remember that your answer was right last time so I need the Dr Murcie vibe to turn things around, ok, so ... will I get lucky this upcoming (next) weekend?

    Any lawsuit experts?

bmr, for a work thing, the laws (statutory, case, and regulatory) in each state vary. And it gets very intricate. So you'd want to talk to a lawyer who specializes in employment law. Most time the attorney will talk to you no charge the first consultation to determine if you have a case. Check your state bar's website for specialists in employment law and call around to make sure they give you a free first visit. In our office we would not take the case, we would refer you on in an attorney who specializes in employment law. Good luck. From what little I know from your posts you may have a claim.
