  1. As if RPS yelling "go foul" on an infield pop up is witty repartee?
  2. You are the Mozart, the Einstein, the Picasso, of smart ass comments and it is a gift - it is a divine gift! It was meant as a supreme compliment - 99.9999999% of the people who ake what the think arfe smart ass comments are put to shame by you - you are the Master -
  3. I haven't see City of God yet but am anxious to.
  4. glad you loved it and was blown away by it - what an incredible film! I am flattering myself that you saw it on my recommendation - but if you recommend it to others, never tell them who is in it or what it is about - it is such a total surprise that makes it ever more gripping - I had no clue that ever went on and since I had no idea what the movie was about, I was just so involved - and I didn't even realize it was Branaugh for most of the movie which is a good thing - that is great acting to elt the movie speak and not your acting - I agree the ending was incredibly powerful - I was so engrossed by that whole movie - always trust my movie recommendations - if nothing else I say means a damned thing to anyone, trust my movie comments -
  5. Matrix the first is loaded with Christian imagry and theology and this one more so - if nothing else, look up the meanings of names like Neo, Morpheus, Zion, etc., the chosen One, and see it again - in the new one we have betrayal with a kiss, hope, prophecy, resurrection as an act of love, and the delayed parousia (second coming) of Christ - the Matrix series was intended to be as symbolic of Christianity as can be without Jesus playing the lead - the theology of the Matrix is total Christian thought - actually, Christian neo-platonism if you really want to search it out - the Matrix authors also are involved in something called Landmark Education, see http://www.top100expo.com/ListFromTo.asp?f...from=001&to=020 And go to #2, The Landmark Forum. I have not checked that link yet but it comes to from a pastor in the church body that I belong to who is an incredible Matrix buff as well as a regular attenbee of Landmark events - kind of funny you all are seeing the most Chrstian films of the last 100 years and didn't realize it!
  6. You know that probably half of our teenage posters were conceived and in utero and born in the time it took Fisk to call a game - not that I minded - I loved #72!
  7. I will believe that the day I vote for a Republican and cheer for the cubs.
  8. you have forgotten what it was like when Fisk caught a game? Talk about the days the earth stood still...

    JM and KW

8 coaches in 5 years in not an usual number at all, in fact, it sounds low to me.
  10. Just back from seeing matrix Reloaded - maybe not the best movie ever - but fantastic special effects and far, far more Christian imagry than I expected - well worth seeing and I wouldn't mind some discussion on what it means -
  11. Frank is still the man.
  12. Suicide is not selfish. It is the most cry of pain that a person can feel. I am not going to belabor the point but for those who really want to know somethingabout suidide, read The Savage God by A. Alvarez. book link
  13. Whether one should put Daubach at 1st base, I might agree, but it is the only position to put him in because he sucks like hell in the outfield. All the b****ing about PK - May has always been most dismal month, far and away, which is what frightened me after his horrid April. PK has been a fan favorite but I'd just as soon see Frank play 1st for a while and let PK sit on the bench or get traded or something because he isn't doing much right now.
  14. CK, we won three division titles in which we went into the playoffs so we have been world series contenders in his era. And if you seriously don't give a s*** if the Sox move, I will seriously give up pacifism and place my entire leg up your ass until my foot comes out your mouth and it will stay there until you take that back! :finger
  15. Why should he sell the Sox? Are you prepared to buy the Sox? Saying JR ought to sell is like saying the wind should not blow on snowy days or children should never catch colds. May be true, but we can't afffect it one way or the other. I have posted before that JR has done some good things, including and especially the lease extension in the US Cellular deal. I am not totally happy with JR's total record - but I think he gets dissed unfairly sometimes and calling for him to sell is meaningless unless one is prepared to buy. And for whatever it says about our franchise, he has 4 division titles (including 1994) during his ownership which is unmatched by any other owner in our history. Even if you don't grant him 1994, the only other owner to win 3 of anything was Comiskey himself. A new owner always raises the threat of the team being moved. Be careful of what you ask for because it may happen. I trust that JR's new lease deal is totally binding and the Sox are committed to Chicago through, what is it now, 2022 or whatever. But until it is tested in court, no one knows. We will get a new owner in due time - and then we may find out if what we ask for is a curse that we will get.
  16. I understand there is video out there of a Bush daughter attending a naked party at Yale - Larry Flynt is offering big bucks for it - add that to your scavenger hunt list -
  17. Bailey has been threatening to sue for years. It sure has taken him long enough - he has milked the publicity forever while he has done nothing with his life - and hey I know the lawyer John Chupa who quit on Bailey's case! You know the first place I ever heard of Eminem was on a Michigan attorney's list when his mother was looking for a lawyer to sue him for slander for what he said aboiut her - every lawyer who knew the case advised every other lawyer not to take it because Eminem's defense would be all he said was the truth and he would prevail - and he did! Just as he will in this one. I think it is cool that for once all the tough guy school yard bullies get called out by name - and I think it would make a perfect Disney movie! It would be more upbeat that Old Yeller - or Bambi or any other Disney flick where a character you care about dies. At least this time, the hero comes out on top! And as far as movies - I am the proud owner of Slim Shady cartoon dvds -yes, they do have those! -- they are a tad, ah, over the top but funny as hell. The basic premise is that the South Park gang beats the Slim Shady gang in baseball, and all sorts of revenge mayhem takes place -

    Matrix note

The whole movie was based in Chicago - which as we all know is the place where reality is never what it seems!
  20. I also stated that I am old... when I was born, truman was president. But at least I was alive the last time the Sox won the pennent and played in a world series!

Well I will get flamed but I believe the thrust of the article is valid and I have thought so from the ebginning. It was well reported how Bush ignored the terrorist warnings while he was at the Crawford ranch in Texas in August 2001 because he was concerned with the fallout of his buddy Kenneth Lay and Enron. That Bush decided to brush the warnings aside is not in doubt. And I am not abouit to do anyone else's esearch on that. Just pick up all the back issues of the New Yorker that were puiblished since September 11th and it was all covered. The brush of of the terrorist warnings was even reported before September 11th. In a fairfly recent New Yorker article, there was an extensive survey of all the warnings received and placed in context with warnings that were ignored on other such occasions as the June 1967 6 day war in the Middle East, the Yom kippur war, etc., and how information is screened. I would not necessarily support the posted, linked article's contention that Bush willingly knew of the fulls cope of what was coming and purposefully allowed it, just that he very casually and dismissively disregarded the warnings because of his preoccupation with Enron,a nd counted on a percentage risk that the warnings weren;t valid. On that he was 3,000 times dead wrong. I often wonder if Gore had been sworn in, what the Republicans would be saying right now if going on 2 years since September 11 Gore had not fulfileld the vow to "get bin laden dead or alive" or even to invade Iraq and so far not come up with Saddam hussein or his sons (let alone a single weapon of mass destruction). They would be railing at presidential incompetence. And as many of us have suggested, the actioins taken by Bush have done nothing to increase security, as the latest wave of terrorists acts shows. We have increased the risk without solving anything.
  22. You and I qualify as old people. The tv generation sees someone on the tube and thinks: quality because they are so damned smart-assed witty! When they have lived a little longr, they may relaize that old, washed up has beens who were never any good retire to tv sports commentary land. Of all the horrible things that I have seen on the Sox lo these many years, hiring Bobby Valentine would rank as the worst move ever. I'd rarter have Hawk back as GM and Bebington as manager then see Valentine with a Sox uniform on, and those are my ultimate very harshest words. Does anyone care why the Mets were so fast to dump him and get Art Howe? Does anyone look at his record and compare it to JMs? Does anyone care that in 15 year he has neverm ever won a division title? 15 years and never won one! Not one! In 15 years! What the f*** do we want that managing our team for? Remember kids, Valentine is nothing more than a Valentin with the E already permanently attached.
  23. in no way - which is why I stick to the Trib - but somehow that story caught my eye
  24. in some newspaper today - I've read so many I forget which one and cannot find it - St JosE6 is the author of that quote, to which Frank responded to the effect shut up, we've already gotten one hitting coach fired. That article is out there somewhere... but here I at work and have toi go back to work and not hunt for story, sorry.
  25. at least, very sloppy editing and proof reading
