  1. good luck with your final - and I sure wish we had some news now - good luck with the final and safe trip home -
  2. Very much agreed, Jason, some outside the box thinking would be welcome indeed - very much needed - and I for one wish you were involved with the Sox now, and I hope you will be some day
  3. In your lifetime, maybe it seems that way. In my lifetime, i saw Chicago almost lose the Sox a bunch of times and JR's buying the team kept them in Chicago - the best savior of WS baseball in Chicago since the one Allyn brother bought ouit the other. And when the deal was signed with US Cellular, the lease at Comiskey was extended for another 15 times, JR's way of making sure the team stayed in Chicago after he was gone. And for that, I thank him with everything I've got. For those who say the MLB would never let the Sox leave Chicago, tell me about it when you buy me a beer at the next NFL game in LA. Thank you JR.
  4. what needs to go is racism I have known Jesse Jackson for maybe 3 times the life span of some posters here and UI have very mixed opinioins about him but how tiresome iut is when issues of racism come up and it is the same old same old tired same old meaningless blather about Jesse Jackson - who has not a damn thing to do with the Marlins. As Frank Zappa once sdaid, I'm not black, but there are a whole lot of times I sure wish I could I wasn't white, and whenever I rad the bash Jesse Jackson comments in any discussion about racism, I wish I could disown my racial connections with those who keep crying about him rather than address any real problems in our society. People of color cannot even get interviews - not even interviews - let alone jobs - 2 black GMs out of 30 - and what, 6 coaches of color out of 30, and the same old tired retreads keep getting hired when other people can't even get interviews - and what the f*** does Jesse Jackson have to do with any of this discussion? I don't mean to blast away, but damn it, I do. I am tired of hearing people cry about Jesse Jackson in situations he has nothing to do with rather than think and dicuss the issue at hand.
  5. Go! Lane! Go! a beautiful song
  6. f*** no, I hope to hell not he quit on us once and once is enough and why keep going back to the past? necrophilia is boring
  7. If JM goes and not KW I will be very angry is this 4 oclock thing a replacement for the 3:30 thing? Or both happening?
  8. i am sure everyone downtown does I like the Lane Tech symbol in your avatar!
  9. fact is, JR still changed the deal from whatever MB, KW, and Hahn agreed to - so if it was the Free Agency thing as the deal breaker, I am still none to happy about it - but the impression that I had was it was it was the change in the money - both or either may be rght!

    Help

did you try putting your http link into the http button above the signature box, or any of the other controls? Maybe the image one? This is one of my jpegs for the Sox and Roll site http://www.theage.com.au/ffxImage/urlpictu...1/04/eminem.jpg and I just checked it and it worked and I think I stuck it in the image or the http button above the signature box - I know I did not put it into the signature box. try the image button first.
  12. Count me in on the bandwagon, too. You can also count this as my very first post. After lurking on these boards the last few weeks, and especially during this whole "KW fired/not fired" scenario, I had to actually make the jump and register just to give some thanks and support to Steff and HSC for the effort they have made to keep us informed on this. And as far as this thread goes: Steff, you have taken a lot of crap the last couple days for news that hasn't happened (yet), but you are still not afraid to go out on a limb to give us (possible) breaking news even now. Thanks for not shying away, Steff - you are doing us a great service. welcome to soxtalk!

    Help

click on "my controls" and it should be there - hell, even I figured out how to use it on the Sox and Roll boards (identical to this one) so once you open My Controls, it should be cake for you - look for edit signature link on my controls
  14. Only about 9-12 million was guaranteed. More than half of the money was tied to performance and incentives. Real fair contract to a guy who won 34 games for your Organization in one and one-half seasons. Thanks CK - some people forget that KW, MB, and Hahn had all agreed on a deal and then JR re-did it on his own at the last second and MB was justified in turning not something that was not what he had agreed to with the GM and ass't GM.
  15. I'm the one assuming right Vince? yep, the numbers speak for themselves. But I love you anyway!
  16. bulls*** CK you are assuming things that are pure conjecture it is evidently very hard to even get MLB teams to interview candidates as to oppsoed to hiring \from the same old good old boy network - and how does one get to eb agood old boy in the loop to go from job to job- you protest the most qualified candidate not being hired but how can that be determined when people cannot even get interviews and hiring is done purely on the basis of race - in this case - white the MLB policy is: interview a group of people and then hire from the best candidate from the interviews - but Florida never interviewed anyone, never gave any one a chance, just went back to the good old boy thing - that is the objection CK - people cannot even get interviews. I
  17. the objection is not in who was hired - it was the process - another good old boy retread hired and it would appear no one else was interviewed the question is of the process - not of who is hired and that is a very important distinction -
  18. you are wonderful, thank you!
  19. they don't sell the Sun Times in western michigan and I suppose I could look it up but would you have a link?

kiss the troll very hard on the lips (give a little tongue) and it will turn into the lover of your dreams
  21. arrogant prick or not, , welcome to soxtalk! (you can send me all the extra money in your sock drawer... )
  22. I may be pendantic (I may be? ) but it is in the best interests of Soxnet.net - in my opinion - to efit out that line in Manuel article about Torborg. This place needs to have a sterling reputuation for accuracy - with stats, facts, everything - and it is simply not true that Torborg was fired, as the article states, which is posted on the main page of soxnet.net. Deleting the sentence will not change anything in the article - a a simple re-write to make it accurate would be appreciated - but whether Torborg was fired or not is not opinion, it is a fact that he did not get fired, he resigned on his own. I just am uncomfortable with factual mistakes being posted under the soxnet name, especially when that is cited as the worst firing mistake ever and it never hapened, yet deleting or editing those few words for the sake of accuracy does not change anything at all that the author says.
  23. most people seem to suggest ignoring them - you want to get into an exchange of trash talk, then do it, but don't feel picked on then - ignore them - you are better than they are but if you wallow in the mud with them, you become them
  24. I guess I always pictured the HOF voters being familiar with the cadidates as a prerequiste for being a HOF voter - maybe they have a little packet of info of each player on the ballot for the voters to review and either the HOF is too lazy to do its own reserach (or too cheap) or, in the alternative, maybe they want info from each person who will be on the ballot so they can't be accused of missing anything and thus costing someone some votes, or maybe something else - maybe nothing to do with the HOF voting but for their own archives and collection --
