I can agree with the way you put things here - expresses just about what I am thinking - thanks for wording what I wasn't able to.

We fired Larry Doby as manager, Frank Robinson was fired, the Cubs have fired a black manager, it has been done enough, firing someone of color is not the problem. Whatever is holding this up is whatever is holding this up. I am wondering if the golden parachute hasn't been fully worked out yet, and I suspect nothing more. I appreciate YASNY and Zach (as always) and Jason and everyone else who has stood up for Steff and HSC. The measure of a person is in large part seen in fidelilty to friends and the way other people are treated.

Thanks, I always loved that Sox symbol that's why I have it tattooed on my ankle...
-
some priceless footage of Ebbets Field - I never really had a picture of it before - did you get to the McPhail being an alcoholic yet? Brilliant when sober and insane aftetr two drinks - a lot of kids today have no idea of the three generations long McPhail history in MLB - the McPhail-Durocher spats are hysterical!
-
it is well worth it - lots of great footage and interviews and really explains what was happening in various things - very well researched and well done -

still think it is a good idea to end this...

I just learned - our friend Bill Veeck wanted to buy the Phillies and stock it with Negro League players and Commissioner Landis blocked that sale to Veeck and engineered a sale to an owner who would preserve all white baseball - didn't know of Veeck's role here!

Two of more astouding statements ever made ---- liberals = treason? astounding in its corrpuption of the constitution which not only defines what treason is, but establishes a counytry where freedom of thought is the strength of the nation, not an act of treason - It would be far more correct to say that dissent was treason in Nazi Germany, Stalin's USSR. Hussein's Iraq, etc etc etc. And swastikas born from liberal ideas perpetrated by Federal control? That is so ludicrious and anti-historical. That symbol arose from fascism, from nazi-ism, the antithesis of liberalism.

apu, thanks! thanks for your points of honor posted, as well as your kind words! I feel so honored today!

email HSC your best pic and she can put it up in the MSN baseball community and we can all see for ourselves - plenty of pictures of many of us are there already - would be great to add yours!

you bring all the good out in me!

it is on after the antiques show - I just checked WTTW's listings - wait out the antiques s*** (we had that here too, some of the stuff was interesting historical s***) and when that is over, the baseball documentary will be on, 9 your time

it is grand rapids and lansing pbs that I am watching, it is on both stations out of GVSU and MSU I just learned that in 1941 DiMaggio struck out a total of 13 or 16 times - whatever number it was, its astounding - good old Edgar Smith was featured giving up the first hit of the streak - really enjoying the show - check your local listings - this is good stuff

you are the one obsessed with duels - not Marines - I think respect is the byword in the Marines for their fellow Marines - why would a Marine with a different political outlook want to fight my son? They are Marines and that unites them. They save their fighting for where it counts. Semper Fi. That phrase means a lot.

I just read the article - al queda is committing terrorism in Saudi? wow. that is a new stage, a remarkable new development - and not a good one - bin Laden is now bombing his own people - and perhaps his own family - and given the corruptness of the Saud family and the absolute lack of any type of democracy in Saudi Arabia and the closeness of the royal family with the Bush family and the pretty extreme radical fundamentalism of the saudi arabian people - there are so many elements at play here - frightening. If I were in Jordan or Eqypt, I'd be wondering if I were next. Or will this continue in Saudi. If a popular revolution takes place that brings down the Saud family (and no one knews really whether the king is alive or dead or is severly senile) every balance of power will be changed. This is big news. And not welcome or pleasant to contemplate.

I'm surprized it has taken so long!
-
thanks, soxheads - I have been thinking about you today, knowing you were grieving the tragedy today -

The power of your intellectual arguments is so overwhelming, I feel helpless - I am the proud father of a Marine who protects the rights of people to call other people "candy asses" when they disagree - he voted for Gore, I would love to watch you call him a "candy ass" to his face - your duel would be very short. Acrually, more people voted for Gore than for Bush. I suppose that makes this a nation of candy asses.
-
very much agreed - we need a new hitting coach so bad - and the calls have been bad, more so than usual this year
-
I think it has some new footage from what his last documentary - pretty good stuff!
-
nothing there to defend - he has none

I'm a big fan of the DH. I like the AL style of ball much more than NL style.
-
thanks HSC - thanks for posting that -
-
welcome! and you are right, the smart fan always listens to HSC.

never pick your opponent - a KC sweep could give them such confidence they never falter again and lead the rest of the way a Minnesota sweep could do the same for them :fyou them both whatever happens, happens, and the team that needs to win is hosting Baltimore -
