Yeah, I saw Butta went to the DL. And to think that some were banking on him coming back. His little frame, fragile arm, just couldn't handle an injury... I expect the same from Sirotka if he ever makes it back to a ML mound. and I will feel badly for both, I liked them both - it has got to hurt when it is over, all the dreams gone
-
oh that is too bad. that may explain the absence of twinkie trolls on the MLB boards of late
-
thank you I wish the expos all the luck in the world!
-
what does that translatge to in non slang?
-
hard to swing a bat if you are holding your balls
-
Detroit certainly hopes so. They have a a lot of stock in that guy.
-
they needed someone and the MLB front office sure wasn;t going to let the mets have him for whatever reason they kept voiding the contract
-
I'd like to see them do it today and get their win for the week out of the way

It has many wonderful scenes in it, a very funny movie!

kind of smacks of censorship, McCarthy style - I suppose blacklisting of actors will begin all over again. Were the situation reversed, someone canceled because they supported the current war, the howls of outrage would be overwhelming. It is highly offensive to suggest that opposing this war would 'put our troops in even more danger." That is very close to saying if you disagree, you are commiting an act of treason. Under that standard, A. Lincoln is also guilty for opposing the Mexican American war and speaking out against it and saying the president wasn't very bright. No one from the anti war side, to my knowledge, has tried to censor any of the country singers or others who have tried to commercialize their support of the war. But that is not something extended by the other side. Steff, thank you for posting this. I would not have seen it otherwise.

next they will be giving a try out to Jaime Navarro if only Eddie Cicotte wasn't banned from baseball, they could give him a try too!

bj, we have new posters on the board, are you trying to frighten them all away?
-
the guy has missed two full seasons pitching and is working on his third - I loved the guy but nostalgia won't bring any victories. He's gone. I wish him the best always.

Thank you but be aware the Jesus Prior jock sniffers willl take their tongues out of the cup just long enough to tell you that you are stupid
-
maybe because you have a much longer perspective on this than those who think this is just another game where the winner has already been declared The intense hatred that has been stirred up is going to have an effect for many years to come, many years - nothing is ober, nothing at all

Nuances are very hard to deal with in the cyber world, especially when people do not take time to examine matters because they have visceral reactions. The graphics on the link that apu posted are a bit off-setting, designed to emphasize a point. But the facts seem to be there, And hardly surprizing. That the Bush family had financial involvment with I G Faber which was a major industrial ally and benefactor and benefit-receiving compnayh of Hitler - why is that so shocking? Ford Motor and IBM also have there hands stained in blood. Hell, IBM's data processing was advanced many times over by their experience in key-punching technology keeping track of the Jews and what camps they were in. King Edward of England was a Nazi sympathizer and we are are lucky that he abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson rather than be crowned king. The Bush family has financial ties with the bin laden family. Those family ties were used to allow Osama's half-brothers and sisters to leve the US after September 11th. Former president Bush is on a corporate board and a major player in the same coirporation that is making millions out of selling war material including war goods that would not be needed where there not a war. Stop being so shocked, shocked when apu raises issues of war profiteering or that the Bush family, among others, makes financial gains from selling military goods to anyone and profits from whatever happens. Jeb and the other brother whose name I cannot remember worked South America for years before Jeb was elected governor of Florida selling military hardware to some very repressive regimes. I know everyone wants to believe in American innocence and purity and that we only operate with clean hands. We do not. We are a country like any other country and we are no more moral or pure or anything else than anyone else. I am sure I will called out for that, but it is so. Patriotism becomes blinbd nationalism when reality is tossed aside because one clings to the mythos rather than the reality. And the Bushs were not Nazis. I am not informed of whether there were any nazi sympathies in old Prescott Bush. But the financial dealings of the family have been without regard to anything else but short term gain. Same as IBM. Same as other US companies and financial interests. Lots of non Nazis did business with Hitler and got rich while they helped entrench him in power and sold him the means to do what he did. and baggio, the attack on apu for being wrong is not justified. You are bing very premature in many things.

I respect your desire for facts. It is too bad that you only demand the facts half of the time. I demand facts all the time, not unfair rhetorical questions. People of good conscious and integrity can differ on interpretations and implications of course, but all of the assumption in the questions in the opening post of this thread are flawed and imply things that are not so. In any court, any judge would toss them for being misleading or assuming thinsg not in evidence. The facts of what the Clinton administration's response were to anything - as Bush's - cannot be stated in a simple declarative sentence for the facts are far more complex, far too numerous, for the readers digest condensed reductionst version. When one overly simplifies, as has been done there it is not facts, it is ideology and mis-statement. For example, I could ask: Why does Bush support throwing entire families out of tax payer funded hosuing when only one member of the family uses drugs and doesn't then evict the Jeb Bush family from the Florida's governor's mansion - or allow his nieces into the White House, which also violates the standards for publicly paid hosuing under his admininistration. (Even drugging visitors albeit family are grounds for eviction.) That is a simplistic reductionist presentation of the issue which leaves out many facts. That is thus unfair. As is the post that started this thread. More to the point: since Condy Rice cast aside the Sandy Berger/Clinton administration's proposals for dealing with al queda, and never picked it up or did anything about al queda until September 11th, isn't Rice and her boss Bush directly responsible for the deaths on September 11th. You would say that was very unfair and left out a lot of facts. And I would say it is as unfair as any of the rhetorical questions used to place blame on Clinton. Cheap shots and unfair. Or we could play the assumption game: why do you support giving blow jobs to Marte? Your name suggests that so therefore you must be in favor of it. Sounds silly, but so do the many leaps in bad logic and no connections made other than the most far fetched in this and other threads.

never try and pick your opposition - it always backfires. If we win our own games, it doesn't matter who wins between those two. Yankees: "glad Arizona is NL champ since we match up better against them." Giants: "glad Anaheim is AL champ since we match up better against them." St. Louis Rams: "glad New England is AFC champs because we match up better against them." Oakland: "glad Tampa Bay is NFC champs because we match up better against them." Miami-Fl: "sure glad that Ohio State is the team we are playing since we can easily beat them." Never pick your opposition or cheer one way or the other. The team you pull for may be the one to destroy you. we just have to win our games who gives a f*** about what happens in theirs.

what inning what score?

Exactly, exactly, which is why some of the glee at his misfortunes bother me. The guy has to be devastated in his own heart. Whatever his strengths and weaknesses, he was an all out ball player and what more can be asked?
-
That's too bad because I always liked Parque. I wish him the best.

Frank doesn't make $10 million a year. Facts are such silly things! I had a framer at the office today - delievered two framed items - both Comsksey related - one a lithograph of the old park and one a pennant from opening day of the new - but what caught his eye is my huge framed poster of Frank. Frank is the only player whose poster I ever got framed because he is the best we have ever had. Next time you see him, tell him I love him!
