  1. Oscar thoughts: I'll finally see ZERO DARK THIRTY tomorrow but how is that nominated for Best Picture and the favorite without Biglow getting nominated. No director nod for Affleck? Thought Perks of Being a Wallflower could have gotten an adapted screenplay nod. I don't want Lewis to win best actor. I want someone paying an original character to win. I'm sure Lewis is great but I just want Denzel or Cooper to win. John Hawkes should have been nominated. Out of best pic noms, I'm pulling for Playbook or PI.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) I haven't seen it, but I've loved every David O Russel movie. I'm sure it's probably pretty good even if it's his weakest. I loved Silver Linings Playbook. Great that BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD got so much recognition.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 07:58 AM) More athletic than Michigan? I'd be impressed. Im a Michigan fan but outside of Burke, Hardaway, and Robinson, they aren't all that athletic or big.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) Yep, get griffey out of the rotation When he fouled the guy on the FT because he didnt box out was inexcusable.
  5. Oscar nominations come out today. Sue me, I like it. Hope Looper, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Bradley Cooper, Denzel, and Beasts/Southern Wild get nods somehow. Gonna see Zero Dark Thirty tomorrow and hopefully Amour next week if I have time.
  6. That was my first time seeing Minnesota. Yikes. Maybe most athletic team in B10. Getting tough road games out of way as well.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Not only that, but the ref counted it. It has to be either a charge/no basket or an and-1 in that situation. It's not like he dunked it and then ran over Mbakwe. I've seen that called a few times the past few years. I don't get it.
  8. Can Michigan start blowing out Nebraska pleas? Letting them hang around.
  9. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) So you're saying that Ullis' ceiling is higher than Nunn? Otherwise I don't know what the "oh brother" was for. I never said Nunn was better right now. Absolutely, but I fear we will never find out because Ullis may end up at a smaller program than he deserves. He would be a steal for Iowa if he ends up there.
  10. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 11:40 AM) I've seen quite a few people say that, but coaches aren't ignoring his height and they get paid to evaluate and recruit players. He may well be the best guard if he was on Simeon, but his ceiling wouldn't be anywhere near Nunn's. Oh brother. People need to go see Nunn before making statements like that. Dunking is the only think Nunn can do better than Ullis. Ty actually can create his own shot.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) Well if you were a recruit and UK, Duke, Louisville, MSU etc came knocking on the door, what is the draw to go downstate to Illinois? There are so many cooks in the kitchen going after chicago recruits that its hard to have any loyalty to a team that has no real identity in the city. Which is why my theory behind the Nunn/Tate recruitment is that Groce wants to open up that pipeline more to compete with those programs. I would take Ullis over both.
  12. It's too bad that Illinois can't keep more kids in state. It won't happen, but if in this junior class, Groce got Okafor and Ullis, you're looking at a Big Ten champion. College coaches need to ignore Ullis' height. The kid is a player of the year candidate now and if he had actually transferred to Simeon, he'd be the best guard on that team.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) Sam Thompson dunking on Hammons last night http://btn.com/2013/01/08/video-sam-thomps...on-a-j-hammons/ At least he has one skill.
  14. Off today. Can't decide ifi wanna go see The Impossible or This Is Forty this afternoon?

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 11:43 PM) Good first episode for Justified. "Patience is a virtue." So Arlo isn't getting out of prison anytime soon.
  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 09:02 PM) New coach give it some time, any interesting recruits for them next year? Nobody big. Couple nice players but no stars as far as I know.
  17. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) So is the Missouri Valley just the Big Two and Little Eight this year? Have there been any big out of conference wins by someone not named Creighton? Watch out for the SALUKIS...never mind. Sigh
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Any word on Hickory? He won his bet on the over.
  19. Rock and Lee Smith! I honestly wouldn't care if Bonds got in.
  20. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 07:00 PM) Half time Duke 25 Clemson 10 Duke has struggled scoring lately, it seems. I see them losing at NC State this weekend.
  21. Will this surgery stop him from walking so many guys?
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) /spit take
  23. Elliott Cole, from new CPL school, Powerhouse, scored 64 in a win yesterday and is now averaging 38.1 pts per game. He has had some wild games with awful shooting but put up enough shots to get point but yesterday was rather efficient. 8 of 11 from 3's. Also had 11 assists. Chicago State has an offer to him. His story is interesting because he had been riding the pine for St. Josephs the past 3 years, had enough, and went to this new school and is going off. Oops, Coach Pingatore. Wonder is recruiting will pick up for him or not. Literally came out of nowhere this year. Guess he doesn't play AAU or summer leagues.
