NYT discloses secret program to track terrorist finances.
KipWellsFan replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) Wow, another liberal newspaper trying to undermine the Bush Administration. What a shocker! Return to reality. Read the article. Overall, it's positive about the program, and if anything the article will help the administration. The only thing that this article might lead to is revelations that the program is being used for non-terrorist related activities and the American people have to know about stuff like that. If that is actually going on. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/23/washington/23intel.html Worry about something important please, there's not much in the article that will blow anyone away. -
QUOTE(T R U @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) Venom is in it There will be 4 villians, 3 have been confirmed... Sandman, Green Goblin, Venom... there has been speculation the 4th would be either The Lizard or Carnage Paul Wall!

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) I don't mean to start another debate on the merits of the war in Iraq, but it now feels like we've wasted the our military and political capital on invading Iraq when military options in Iran might need to be pursued. I think its really dangerous to let Iran have nuclear technology. Not only is Isreal in direct reach of Iranian missle range, Iran is just goofy enough to start pawning off its technology to groups that actually might strike the U.S. They seem 10 times more likely to hit us (or our allies) than Iraq ever did. Now if just feels inevitable. Iran will have nukes. Scary. Not to mention Bob Baer thinks Aminejad might have had direct links with the 9/11 bombers.

QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) Ah yes the living constitution. Isn't that what liberals call it???? Undercover??????????? Let's play the same game. Prove there was harm with her supposed blown undercover status.. Fitz does not think so or he would have prosecuted the leakers, right????? Every sign points to retaliation for the Niger article and that they don't want similar people to go public with information about the administration. It's all intimidation. Maybe you haven't noticed yet but it seems like everyone who was involved with the administration comes out angry. -

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:29 AM) Again when an emeny stricks your homeland you at war they declared war on you simple as that. So yes I believe we are at war. Canada might not be but the US is. Well, I'm not going to get into the legal and philisophical issues, but lets think about this. If the War on Terror actually denotes being at War, then America will always be at War. And harkening back to my original point, this results in an executive that will always be more powerful and an American people who will be always relatively less apt to criticize than if the country were not in a state of war. The War on Terror opens a can of worms with inconceivable consequences. -
Iraq troop withdrawal to begin this summer.

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) That is a stupid comment. :headshake Well, I believe it's just as realisitic as, "as we stand down, the Iraqi people will stand up" I'm not sure they'll actually be reducing their troops, and if they actually do I doubt the Iraqi people will be able to stand up against the multitude of forces working against the central government. In Afghanistan, while a different environment, the central government still isn't relied upon to stand up for themselves. It's bleak. -

The Irani people are liberalizing so a radical goof like Aminejad isn't exactly in at the optimum time. But if he can provoke conflict with that evil West... well I hope you understand where I'm going with this. No obviously not, although I've definitely seen all of those conspiracy theory movies. Who doesn't like a good conspiracy theory? On that subject I just finised the Da Vinci Code today. But the fact that people go around saying we're at War, which we're not, to help justify, subconsciously or not, actions which would normally be ethically debateable to say the least, proves my point. -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Dude. Thats every bit as rediculous as it is cynical. Shame on you. I just hope this slow withdrawal, if it actually happens is best for the region. And it probably isn't. -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Im gonna take a shot at getting this thread back on topic. The reason we're starting to re-deploy is that the Iraqi security forces are assuming control over larger and larger swaths of the country and, in an increasing number of cases, are able to undertake counter-terror ops on their own and without US support. This is exactly what the President said was the deciding criterion for how many troops we keep over there. Contrary to how it may seem sometimes I DO want us to be done with Iraq but I also want it done the right way. Letting the status of Iraqi security forces and the situation on the ground dictate our actions is the right way to do this. Bottom line........they are starting to stand up so we are starting to stand down. Bottom line........ we hope those silly Arabs will stand up because our white guys lives just aren't worth it anymore. -

Yay! And next week we can start a civil war. I can't believe people actually buy into this crap. In Iran we have a weak, unpopular leader manifesting a conflict with Israel and the Western world to force people to rally to the executive. You know what, the War on Terror is the exact same damn thing for Cheney and Bush. Please return to reality people! -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) How bout we ridicule you instead for failing to realize that the treatment of veterans when they arrived home from the war was absolutely reprehensible and these hippie cock suckers spitting on them as they returned home, calling them baby-killer and other assorted vile garbage was just insult to injury. It was bad enough they had to go fight a war that the politicians would not let them win but to come home and listen to and endure garbage like that from people like you made it an order of magnitude worse. Ahhh!!! Nuke, you missed my point. I'm saying what does this dumb spitting argument have do with this thread and American history in general? I'd never disrespect returning troops. -

Do we really have to debate whether Vietnam vets were spit on or not? Can't we just ridicule minors' idea that those events, whether real or not, had any effect on American society. Perhaps the War itself just may have had a little bit larger of an effect on American society... -
It's pretty close but it just isn't at awesome as the original. Like I only want to use it because it looks so great, but if it's a little off, the old ones are better. I'm trying to get the original creator to change them up to make them transparent. The rest of them are at this link. Scroll down. http://www.gerardkennedy.ca/page_e.aspx?id=1 Thanks for the help SF1

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Oh, it's too small to get the white out so would it be ok if I just changed the text? go for it
-
really close, is this the same problem we had with another image I was trying to make transparent? I just tried it out against a darker surface and the inside of the letters of gerardkennedy.ca show up white as well.
-
Hey guys just wondering if this symbol could be made transparent so it shows up good against something other than white. Any help would be appreciated. Perhaps it could only be made transparent with the original file?

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) Why don't you stay away from this forum, you really have no clue on politics. This is not an insult just so the mods know. But seriously you are so far out of the real world it isn't funny so as a helpful hint please either get some idea on politics or leave the debating to the experts. Again not meant to be an insult You're a f***in momo. There's an insult for you.

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) The war could still be on going in 08. Iraq is a country which supports Terrorism and it needed to dealt with. And by 2008 we could be at war with Libya, North Korea or Iran or all of them who knows, but a cut and run strategy in this war on terror could and most likely lead to another attack if that were to happen while a lib was in office the party could be dealt a huge blow. Could be going on in '08? Try could be still going in in '88. Yah cause cutting and running and being struck maybe once or twice in the next 20 years by terrorists would be much worse than being at War with North Korea, Iran and Syria. War on terror, lol.

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Yes I am standing up for our president I just fail to see how bad of job he has done. I will even add Joe L I never though I could stand for him but what he has done is awsome, standing up for what he knows is right. The way I see it is we have done so much good in Iraq lets finish the job. It would be terrible if we cut and ran like some libs want to do then have Terrorists retake the area and attack us once again. I have to appulde the liberal plan here because it is one that if it fails will ruin the party for ever. There is no way they could recover if there cut and run strategy ended up with the terrorists committing more attacks and Tens of thousands of dead on the homeland. To our great president To Joe L Ruin the party? Their plan will never be used. If they ever have a plan on Iraq they'll only be able to use it when they're in power. And that means at least waiting til 2008 if I have any idea how the American system works. Their so-called plans are only about making political hay and are probably not realistic. The situation is so much more complicated then either cutting and running or staying the course. The implications are global and increased terrorist attacks on the home soil should probably be a secondary thought at this point. And really probably have virtually no connection to the Iraq War.

There have been a lot of people claiming this, and similar reports, maybe the same ones just told over and over again, are proof of WMD. So I'm wondering why the administration keeps admitting that there were no WMD.
