QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) I don't know about that, you'd have to be a pretty good diver. If you went into a spin and hit the water at a wierd angle, you'be ass out. Yeah I wouldn't dive. I wouldn't be in it for bonus points...I was thinking more on the lines of climbing the railing and just jumping feet first.

I walked past it about 7:30 this morning. You know I walk over that bridge every day and I've often wondered if someone was in there drowning if I could make that jump down there. I think it's doable. Hope they are ok.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) Whitesoxfan, I disagree. The number 1 thing for District Attorney is percentage of convictions. If you want to move up from a states attorney to federal or flip to the defense, the first thing that your future employer will look at is "What percentage of cases did you win." A good prosecutor is up over the 90% range, because they do not bring to trial cases that they feel they are going to lose. On the other hand a good defense attorney is aiming for 50% win rate, as you are always playing behind the 8 ball, even with the burden of proof being so high for the govt. The entire argument of yours is based on him winning the case. If he gets a conviction, then yes this will increase his chances at re-election. But if he loses, you will undoubtedly get a candidate to run against him on the platform that he botched this case. I doubt I will convince you though, seems that you are basing your entire argument on your own opinion. But any DA, or other lawyer who has knowledge on prosecutors will tell you, high profile cases with marginal evidence are a great way to lose an election, not win one. Like I said I don't know the facts on the cas so I can't comment on that, but I do know...if this DA didn't move forward with or without evidence he would be burned at the stake. At least now even if he can say he pursued the case no matter what.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Hey, it was bound to happen. At least the pressure is off now. It wasn't really bound to happen. He had a great chance at a no no, but now that it has....lets take him out after next inning, unless he really wants the CG.

QUOTE(ThinWhiteDuque @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) I'm not sure that the "don't mention it" jinx applies to anyone outside the dugout, let alone us out here in internet land. Look dude , if you don't think Javy is on soxtalk in between innings then you're just a few sandwiches short of a picnic!!! Give em hell Javy!!!!!!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) None of those were at the start of a season. correct...those are not to start the season...just the record for consecutive games with a run.
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) That wasn't only a Sox thing too, that was the most by anyone in MLB since Frank did it. Consecutive games with run scored http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_runs1.shtml AL Kenny Lofton - Cleveland 18 runs 08-15-2000 09-03-2000 Red Rolfe - New York 18 runs 08-09-1939 08-25-1939 NL Billy Hamilton - Philadelphia 24 07-06-1894 08-02-1894

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) I think there's a big difference between a culture of entitlement and a culture of rape. The guy on the Fan said that there was a history of bad, borderline illegal behavior on behalf of the Duke students. How you managed to associate that with a free pass for raping girls is beyond me. Im reserving comments till all the facts come out. Generalizations and stereotypes don't help, but neither does calling someone a racist. Racist gets thrown around to easily. Here's one student who used the phrase "culture of rape" http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/lac...e-fallout_x.htm Alvaro Jarrin, a Duke graduate student, wore a T-shirt imploring the silent players to speak up. "It is important that we not let this go down easily," he said as hundreds of marchers began gathering on Duke's east campus. "There's a culture of rape at Duke, so we're hoping this will get them to speak up. This rape is a symptom of a larger problem at Duke."

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) Both outs in this inning were on the 1st pitch of the AB. The guy has walked 4 already. If it's a strike what's the prob?? I ain't watching the game so I don't know. Sometimes the first pitch is the best pitch you'll see.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) So the question is...is adding extra RISP worth subtracting some OBP (combined with the annoying the pitcher factor). As long as Pods is up at 75% or so, I can live with it, because those hits by Thome, Iguchi, and Konerko will turn into more RBI's than just sitting back & waiting for a dinger. I agree and I think most advocating pods to steal are expecting at least a 75% success rate. Nobody is expecting Pods to get nailed 1/2 the time. You're not really a base stealer if that's your success rate.
-
QUOTE(Damen @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) With our offense right now, there's no need taking the 50-60% risk of producing an out for the sake of one run. I'll give Pods another month of basestealing to show he can steal at the rate he did before his injury, but if he can't, I'd rather he demonstrate restraint on the basepaths. Good of you to give him another month to prove himself. By that do you mean you won't b**** about it for at least a month.

Anybody know how we're doing in having the lead in the games this year?? Nevermind we've had it in all but game 2.

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) 2 controlled chaos: that pic u got as a sig, thats ur collection?it looks awesome Thanks. I hope to keep expanding it!!
-
QUOTE(Damen @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) This is why Pods doesn't need to steal every time he gets on base. We'd have bases loaded right now w/no outs. haha I was just waiting for this post. what a joke
