I want Mark to finish his career here. He's just one of those character guys to me. I love his attitude towards the game and the fans. You know what you're gonna get with Mark. He's just a regular dude that throws the ball well every 5 days. Sustained above average consistency is as important if not more important than any other factor. He'll cost Jerry a good chunk of change, but IMO he's worth it all. Sign him now...He won't be looking to be the highest paid pitcher in the league so get it done. I really believe these guys will all want to stay together as long as they could. Jose, Mark, Jon, Freddy. I don't know about Bmac or Vasquez, but I think the main four would take 3 - 5 million less to stay together on this team then go somewhere else and start over.

yeah I don't know about the stats or anything, but I like MO. I hope Girardi helps him down there and he has a successful career.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) Good night overall tonight. The group as a whole was much better than in previous weeks. I thought Paris and Katharine were the best, with Taylor, Chris, and Elliott not far behind. Ace wasn't bad, but I think he is still very vulnerable this week. Kellie wasn't so hot and surprisingly admitted as much. Anyone that thinks she isn't dumb was proven wrong tonight. She flat out admitted she sucked before the judges spoke. Any intelligence at all would have stopped her from doing that. I said it before about Kellie...I don't think it's an act with her...I just think she really is that dimwitted. But there is definitely that charm about her that makes you feel for her. It worked for Jessica Simpson when she was playing dumb and it's gonna work for Kellie cause she IS dumb. She was hard on herself yesterday. Most performers on that show would never criticize themselves and I think that will resonate with the voters. My prediction...Kellie stays...I don't even think she'll be in the bottom 3. Ace, Elliot and my upset pick...Taylor in the bottom 3 with Elliot unfortunately going home over Ace.

I hadn't heard one way or the other on Jenks Looks like you need to spend it just for the VIP line. Hey why didn't they ask Bobby to do this...he has a good physique. http://www.perryellis.com/pdf/insert_sp06_t+l.pdf Receive a free gift with purchase and gain entry to the VIP access line to have your gift autographed by a professional baseball player. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) The "Sweet Spot" on the ball (between the seams) is usually the best spot to have someone sign. Unless of course you plan on getting the ball signed by numerous different players..... Well that should tell you my expertise on autographs. I'll do that with Bobby if I get one. Thanks!!! -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) I just got back too. I found out about signing today, so I didn't have anything for them to sign. Luckily they had some paper with the WS logo on it at the table, so I had them sign that. Mark is very cool, the Widge looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there. I got a nice little thrill to walk right past Farmer as he sat there with his pen in his hand reaching toward me like I wanted his autograph. :finger I had Widge sign one of those papers. I had an extra baseball, but I'm gonna try to get Jenks on Thursday. Some dude that was at the front of the line was selling 8X10 pictures for like $5.00. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) Putting "Buehrle [...] signing today" in the title got me excited that he was signing a contract extension. Jerk Sorry.....Maybe I can make my own contract for him which commits him to the sox for the remainder of his career and then pull the old "hey please give me your autograph ....RIGHT ON THIS LINE" -
*To promote organ donation, Sox broadcasters Ed Farmer and Chris Singleton, pitcher Mark Buehrle and catcher Chris Widger will sign autographs Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the lower level of the Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph. What? No Nancy Faust? Oh, different sort of organs. Never mind.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) ....or extremely elitist ones who don't want just anyone shopping there and aren't hurting for business either. Who registers at a little boutique shop in highland park?? What kind of friends you have Steff? Is this a players wife having the baby? Downtown Highland Park Tales and Toys, 610 Central (847) 433-2231 Where can I buy gifts for the newborn babies, I wail? My sister leads me to this inventive shop in Port Clinton Square, where games, toys, baby layettes, camp accessories, jewelry and Madame Alexander Dolls fill the shelves. Owner Robin Lieberman advises me to buy three graduated nesting bins with painted images (sports or animals for boys, flowers or butterflies for girls), which babies and toddlers can use for stacking toys, sitting or building, and small personalized or decorative step-stools on which toddlers and young children can sit or use as a mini-table. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) he does have a big heart and a soft spot... such a great person.... the day after a spring training game in 2005 in which he had given up 6 runs in 4 IP.... i told him, "you threw the ball great yesterday Jose, dont worry... your going to do great this year" the way he looked at me was somewhat shocked and somewhat touched. what i said truly effected him. it was probably unreal for him to go out there and make a dozen or so mistakes and then have a fan tell him he threw the ball well... the last spring training he had in 2004 with the yankees, people were probably hostile with him. its one of my fondest recent memories. You sure he didn't look at you like...."What the f*** are you saying dude? I don't understand English"

QUOTE(Cali @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) I think this is pretty redonkulous, because it's just hair, but my concern is that we all know how superstisious baseball players can be, what if joe cuts his hair, all the sudden has a bad few games and then starts believing that it was the haircut's fault or something? (Now reading that back to myself, it also sounds redonkulous, but not very far fetched because I'm sure there are players who have far worse superstisions) Plus as a shaggy haired individual, I they they all look better with the hair, than without. Maybe they should start by cutting a few hairs before each game and the first time either one of them goes O-fer. Stop the cutting. I don't care if they end up looking like Gary Oldman from The Fifth Element. Just stop the cutting of the hair!!

QUOTE(mumbles3k @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) Hello, On the official website, they're selling something called "Cool Base" jerseys, which apparently will be worn by players this year during super-hot games. The only one they have on the website is black. I remember reading that the team was mad at Garcia for choosing the black jerseys for that game against the Cubs, but he had performed we'll in it before or something, so he thought it was good luck. :headshake Freddy likes it hot!!!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) I guess every once in a while it isn't horrible to win a shootout. Back over .500 and we already caught those "scary" Tigers. Keep it rolling back home tomorrow Vaz Oh ya, we're now one whole game behind the pace from the start of last year. Speaking of the pace from last year...Is the suntimes really gonna run that in the paper every fricken day?? 2005 record vs 2006 record -
