QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) How is it. I love Lindy's chili on t he southside. I drive past that place all the time and have never tried it. Wow Lindy's Chili and Gerties Ice Cream....talk about memories. They put one in Ford City East, which I don't even know if that's what its called anymore, but it used to kinda be my backyard.

Anyone go to the Jenks signing?

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) i like the old magnetic schedules, wish I had kept mine Yeah I wish I had the older ones too...I know they go back further than 2000. They would always be trashed by the time I was done with the game. My one friend got this coat with a big square pocket in the front....he has since been holding them every year for everyone and they dont get messed up now. -
QUOTE(Walker2Baines @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) I agree that the $30 just for the party is a bit steep. I mean it's not like they are serving filet mignon or anything like that. It ain't filet mignon, but the Bertuccis put out a pretty nice sperad, not to mention 4 or 5 beers cost you 30 bucks up top and it's all you can drink during the party.

I thought this guy with a good idea got squeezed out last night for what I thought was a lame idea.

QUOTE(salty99 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:43 AM) What did you have Buehrle sign? I had Buehrle sign my World Series program and a couple of baseballs...Not on the sweet spot might I add, since I didn't know what the hell that was(thanks watchtower). Bobby's is on the sweet spot. Well these were my second and third times waiting for an autograph and I thought both went off without a hitch. I mean both times the players were about 15 minutes late, but that's not bad....s*** happens. If they got there early everyone would expect them to start signing early and then they would expect them to stay till the end even though they started early. -

QUOTE(salty99 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) I was there as well and did the same thing Chaos did to avoid the long regular line. Most everyone around me did the same thing. Why wait 3-4 hours? It would make me more upset if I were you that people were getting multiple things when it was clearly stated 1 autograph per person. You know I went to the Buehrle signing that was Tuesday at the Thompson Center cause it was across the street from my work and I went to Yorktown cause it's 2 minutes from my house. It was pretty funny how many familiar faces I saw at these two events given the distance. They must be collectors that drive all over to these things cause even though they weren't in line together they all knew each other. I'm not sure if they went in the VIP line more than once or not cause I left right after mine, but if they did...THAT would have pissed me off. I did originally think it was going to be one signature per receipt and I was debating do I get my SI cover or the baseball. I was even going to go ask one of thsoe collector guys which would be the best thing to get. Then they said one per person I was able to have my wife get the ball signed and I got the SI Cover. I'm becoming somewhat of an autograph connoisseur I now have Buehrle, Jenks and er um Ryan Sweeney. -
QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) Thanks for the advance, gotta run. Im going for a friends bachelor party, here we go. Don't get arrested!!

McLellan Resigns, Rove back to Politics
Controlled Chaos replied to KipWellsFan's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) I love this. The Bush administration considers hiring a conservative news anchor and its the way to do it. But if it was a Dem and Dan Rather, it would be "flying bulls***." This is actually a smart move on behalf of the Bush administration - because it forces the Bush administration to be more honest with its press secretary... provided Snow would have the balls to say "this won't fly." Something that McClellan clearly doesn't have the balls to do. SNARK WARNING! Besides it's not really a new job, so much as a transfer in departments anyway. If a Dem hired Rather I think what you would get out of the conservative side is a big fat I told you so. With Tony Snow he has never hid that he is conservative...hell I don't really think FOX News has ever hid it's conservative tilt. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) I ended up going to the Hen over by the mall every Sunday and getting the weeks worth rather than dealing with it. We have new owners at the one on 126 & 59. I'm going to have to set them straight tomorrow on how I expect the sale of these things to do down... Make em an offer they CAN'T refuse.... Yeah I have a feeling there won't be too many extras of these.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) $2.49 each, and the process was a mess at some White Hen's who's owners and employees were assholes. Must only sell this one, can't go back a day, must have your coupon... good grief, do you want my $$ or not..? I got 2 full sets of them. I had a pretty cool old lady at my white hen. She would give me the past days if she had them. New owners now though...so who knows this time.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) What should i do, and where should i eat??? Nothing too expensive. I want to also know the best place to watch/bet on the sox and bulls? Is there free drinks when you sports bet? It depends what's expensive to you, but you can hit the buffets for a wide variety of good eats for fairly cheap.

They have done it the last couple years with the Bears too. they were commerative coins that went into a cardboard sleeve. I don't remember if they were 3 bucks each though.

I want to assure you I am a Sox fan. I walked in to Carsons at 5:30...went to a perry ellis rack....bought a 69.00 shirt and got in the VIP line. I'm sorry I wasn't wearing my sox gear, which I guess makes me less of a fan, but I came straight after work. I was done and out of the store by 6:45. I'll be returning my 69.00 shirt this weekend as I would imagine most people that bought stuff will be. With the exception of kids with no money, I can't figure out why everyone didn't take advantage of it. It's not like they said its non refundable. You people in the peasant line looked like you wanted to kill the people in the VIP line when all we did was follow the rules. Whatever though...I'm glad everyone was able to get an autograph. Bobby was very cool and polite. I got my Sports Illustrated World Series mag signed and a baseball I brought. When you make your Perry Ellis purchase they give you a free baseball that has Perry Ellis written all over it. I'm glad I brought one. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) But if no jobs are waiting for them because businesses can hire all the legal workers they need, there will be less of an incentive to sneak across. Currently, if the reports are to be believed, most of the workers have jobs waiting for them. I don't think anyone is saying throw open the border and let anyone across. But spending hundreds of billions of dollars on a 3,000 mile 5 stage fence, with all the electronic surveillance equipment isn't worth it for the problem it solves. Workers need jobs, our companies needed workers, the government's role is to make certain that doesn't happen at any cost? Nope, doesn't work for me. Workers need jobs, our companies needed workers, the government's role is to make certain those workers that enter this country are not criminals, have means of supporting themselves once they are here, disease free, and I'm certain a couple other things I'm forgetting. That works for me. Free education. Free health care. Why have your baby in Mexico when you can sneak over here and have it in a good hospital and have your child be a US citizen? There will always be incentives to come to the US. -
QUOTE(White Sox Fan For Life @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) Thank you for all your tips again I really appreciate it. I do have more information to put in the paper but I was freaking out because I really don't know how to word it sometimes. When you ask me where do I attend classes is that something you are making fun of me for because my grammar is bad? No offense I am just very aggravated because I have a paper to write about on how to put a silencer on a gun for my policing class too. With all the direction and tutelage Beltin' has given you, I hardly think he's making fun of anything.

We will always need border security. Be it fence, high tech, or personel. Believing that Mexicans won't try to come here illegally cause they can get on a guest worker waiting list is a pipe dream. -
Sox Should Make Signing Buehrle Top Priority

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) I don't know if he has the most, but pitching 1,172.2 IP from 2001-2005 is a lot of innings. That is an average of 234 IP per year. There are very few pitchers that can match that even in a single season. His 81 wins in that timeframe is also in the top 5. He might not have the best stuff, but he is so damn reliable. He would definitely be worth $13 million a year for 5 years. That will be an average top tier starting pitcher's contract in 2-3 years. I agree. l'll say it again sustained above average consistency is as important if not more important than any other factor. I think he'll take 5/13 even though he can probably get a lot more if he held out for FA. -

What's the opposition to a fence?? I know this addresses only part 1 of the problem. I just want to hear the negatives to it. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) It would have to be a family member, or a child, or an old person who accidentally fell in for me to take the plunge. The only time I wouldn't jump is if I knew it was a suicide attempt. Otherwise I think saving someone is worth the risk.
