  2. I just wish you people would stop playing favorites and ruin one of my threads once. Nobody ever hijacks my threads and I'm sick of it!!
  3. I agree 100% and that's why Sean Penn freaked. Penn is basically saying...The ignorant people that vote will vote for Kerry. If I was a democrat, I'd be offended by his comments. Penn said this in reagrds to Stone's comment: "Not so well, to encourage irresponsibility that will ultimately lead to the disembowelment, mutilation, exploitation, and death of innocent people throughout the world. The vote matters to them. No one's ignorance, including a couple of hip cross-dressers, is an excuse." Penn is calling Stone ignorant for saying: "no shame in not voting, if you don't know what you're talking about"??? Are you serious?? Who's the one encouraging irresponsibility when you are saying that you SHOULD vote even if you don't know what you're talking about? Who's the ignorant one Sean, when you are pining for igonorat voters to vote, just cause you assume they will vote for Kerry? If an uninformed voter doesn't want to blindly punch a chad, isn't it ignorant to tell that person they are leading to the disembowelment, mutilation, exploitation, and death of innocent people? Isn't it ignorant to try to get people to vote for who YOU want instead of them informing themselves and making their own pick? People have the right to not vote if they see fit. It's part of our freedoms that Penn usually so demonstratively fights for. In this case he feels it hurts his cause of getting Kerry in office so he tries the guilt card. Somehow I think if this was about burning an American flag Penn wouldn't be stepping on our rights. As for voting in general, I think everyone should inform themselves and vote. We are lucky to have a country where your opinion counts. Our soldiers fight for that right. So get educated on the canidates policies and place your vote. Penn's Letter
  4. EDIT: (Matt Stone is one of the creators of Team America and South Park) "no shame in not voting" "if you don't know what you're talking about" I have no problem with that statement. It offended Sean Penn because, he thinks "the people that don't know what they're talking about" are votes for Kerry. It is every American's god given right to vote, but if you don't follow politics or read anything and don't know one politicians ideals from the other, then there is no shame in not voting. Voting just for the sake of voting is ridiculous. We vote for who we think is best capable to lead our country..we don't vote just to vote. We certainly shouldn't vote because a certain celebrity tells us we should and who we should vote for. The Vote or Die campaign. Is it just asking for people to vote or is it asking people to inform themselves and vote for who they think is best. I never been to a rally, but I'm quite sure who 50 Cent, Leonardo DiCaprio, Snoop Dogg, and Jay-Z and Ashton Kutcher are lobbying for when they are at these "Vote or Die" rallys. Is the goal to just have more young voters or better-informed ones? If you don't know anything and don't care, should you go punch a ticket cause Leonardo DiCaprio said to?? I don't think so and there is no shame in not doing so, cause you can't make an informed decision. That's your right. What if we got to vote on who the next right fielder for the sox was and Justin Timberlake, who never played baseball, decide to play? Informed sox fans would never ever vote for him, but I guarantee a lot of uninformed fans would and a lot of fans of Justin, but not of baseball or the sox would vote for him too. Most people here would say...."If you don't know anything about it then don't vote" but for some reason with politics...It's like who cares what ya know...just go and vote...and if ya don't, it's shame on you.
  5. I'm curious as to who he was speaking to and what their reactoin was. Anyone know what side of the fence the groups at this festival are?? I bet I can guess.
  6. Howdy everyone!! I ain't been here in a while and all hell has broken lose. Lighten up peeps!! I missed you all....well not the bickering but the discussions in general...
  7. Well one response is better than none!! Thanks Kongerko!!
  8. The Blame Game (edited) By Ben Ferenzi The Cubs, looking for someone to blame, broke all the mirrors in the clubhouse so as NOT to pick themselves. Zambrano did the honors and was overheard saying, "We always have someone or something to blame. Who is it this year? There has to be some bendajo who is responsible." The Cubbies were picked to win the World Series, but they couldn't even grab the wild card. Why? What caused the breakdown? Last year this team asked "Why Not Us?" They asked for the fans to believe in them. The fans did!!! In fact, they believed more than ever. So much that the tires on the bandwagon began to deflate. You can spot the virginal fans with their still creased jerseys and their stiff bill hats. They chatted on their phones and treated the confines like the worlds largest bar. They would start the wave and watch the crowd stand up and sit down, all while missing the action on the field. Actually, now that I think about it, they weren't all that different from the everyday cub fan, but their presence was felt nonetheless. The Cubs wanted people to think they could win, and when people did, they were chastised for having unreasonable expectations and placing undue pressure on the team. They were a distraction and directly responsible for the Cubs failures this season. The "bandwagon fan" may just be this years goat. Lets get a take from some of the players. Moises Alou, of the infamous Bartman incident, chose to not blame a fan for this years debacle. He proclaims his unclutch hitting is directly attributed to the media and fan frenzy over the watered down story known as Urinegate. Alou also blames Chip and Stoney for his lackluster performance. Moises was quoted as saying "These dam announcers hate us hitters. They only care about pitching and it made me go in a slump, somebody needs to care about me" Sounds like Moises needs some therapy...If he would just shut up and play he wouldn't have this sticky situation on his hands...or would he??? Sammy Sosa still has that hop when he watches one of his solo home runs leave the park. Asked about his infamous hop and the teams struggles this year, Sosa offered this statement "I love to hippity hop...I jump really high. I wish we win, but if I hit homerun, I do ok, so not my fault. Baseball been berry good to me and I have a lot of money. I’m happy" A corkless bat and a selfish player make a terrible combination, but don’t blame SamME. If the dam camera person would catch his chest pounding, finger kissing and sky pointing when he gets a base hit with runners on…then maybe he wouldn’t swing for the fences everytime. In a related topic, Commissioner Selig has produced a request from SamME depicting his lean towards the base hit celebration. Sosa’s request is to allow his assistant, Julian Martinez, to bring some water for a little face dunking after RBI base hits. No word from the league on whether they will approve the request. LaTroy Hawkins’ struggles were transparent. When questioned earlier in the year, LaTroy snapped that he can do anyone’s job, but everyone can’t do his. I sought out LaTroy to clarify if he indeed CAN DO his own job when I was met with his agent Larry Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds pointed out the fine print in LaTroy’s contract. It states “LaTroy Hawkins is not liable for saving one run games. If LaTroy is put in with runners on base totaling up to the amount needed to make it a one run game, he is also not liable. LaTroy is a set up man. If he is used as a closer, which is not recommended, he is to be used with a lead of 3 or more runs. Failure to do so is the responsibility of the manager. These stipulations are final and the failure to follow said stipulations may have disastrous results with no accountability applied to Mr. Hawkins.” I thanked Mr. Reynolds for his clarification. After seeing the fine print LaTroy certainly can not bear any responsibility for the teams decompostion. Some look to point the finger at Baker, who is no stranger to the blame game himself. Baker who always has something or someone to blame was asked: "What other factors, besides the media, the fans, the pressure, the umps, the stress, the schedule, the day games, the bias, the announcers, the wind and the goat contributed to the Cubs demise?" Since the question itself pretty much covered all avenues of blame, Baker had little left to contribute, but came up with one nugget. "Ya'll have been saying we have great pitching all year, and I agree we do, but the fact is, with the exception of Carlos, all of our pitchers are white. White boys can't handle the heat. We play a lot of day games here so for next year we gonna need more pitchers of color." Jim Hendry, who has tried everything to get this team going, has been scouting tanning salons all over town to see which place can cook Kerry Wood a nice shade of chocolate. Hendry insists he can win with these players. "If a little color is what Dusty wants then a little color is what he'll get." Hendry has made plenty of moves for players, however, as has been revealed numerous times this year, he still doesn't have a team. Well, unfortunately, I was not able to nail down the culprit responsible for the Cubs misfortune this season. I have scanned the entire organization from top to bottom. The players and management are absolved from all accountability. This is clearly an outside job. Last year was Bartman. This year it isn’t as specific, but you people know who you are. Cub fans can look on the bright side....the Cubs can be lovable losers again....The party is on. A satire written by me.

  10. Page 30 of today's Sun times. No mention of it on the front page. Critical memos on Bush's Guard service faked? September 10, 2004 BY THOMAS LIPSCOMB A day after CBS News presented documents questioning President Bush's National Guard service, the veracity of those papers is coming into question. The development comes in a campaign in which charges continue to fly about the authenticity of Bush's time in the Guard and Sen. John Kerry's Web site listing of medals and naval service. On "60 Minutes II" on Wednesday night, CBS' Dan Rather introduced four documents he claimed were written by Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, 1st Lt. George W. Bush's superior, establishing that Bush failed to meet the standards required by the Texas Air National Guard in the early 1970s. These appeared to support charges by Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe and Kerry that Bush had been "AWOL" and had failed to meet his Guard commitments. The documents were presented by CBS as coming from Killian's secret personal files. In them, Killian appears to complain that he was being pressured by his superior officers to "sugarcoat" Bush's substandard performance in his official records and described how Bush had asked him "how he could get out of coming to drill," among other things. Forgery experts take a look The morning after the "60 Minutes II" airing, the Internet was buzzing with claims that the documents were forged. Powerlineblog first aired speculation that there was persuasive evidence from the typefaces and spacing that the documents supposedly prepared in the age of typewriters in the early 1970s showed the unmistakable characteristics of computer printing. Another blogger, Bill Ardolino at INDC Journal, who had read Powerline, said, "I decided to find a top typeface expert and ran his analysis on my Web site." Ardolino's expert, Philip D. Bouffard, is a nationally recognized forensic authority in typewriter and electronic typefaces. Bouffard has the largest collection of full letter impact typewriter specimens in a private collection today. Having worked at NCR and a forensic laboratory for more than 30 years, Bouffard still works with entities such as the State of Ohio on Medicare fraud cases. Bouffard said the CBS documents appear to have been copied about 10 times in the state he saw them. Nevertheless, he states, "All the documents have been created on the same printer. And the proportional spacing and the common characteristics of numbers like 4 and 7 and letters like lower case c and upper case G are beyond the capabilities of any of the typewriter impact specimens I have in my collection. The centering of headings is also beyond the capabilities of any typewriter I know of." His conclusion: "It is remotely possible there is some typewriter that has the capability to do all this ... but it is more likely these documents were generated in the common Times New Roman font and printed out on a computer printer that did not exist at the time they were supposedly created." Bouffard is a registered Democrat planning to vote for Kerry. In a related story, the Associated Press has reported that the son of Killian, Gary Killian, has questioned the authenticity of the documents as well and said they didn't come from his family. CBS says it stands by its story and claims that the handwriting and document experts it consulted believe the documents are genuine. Did CBS make a mistake? The White House released these documents after obtaining them from CBS and did not question their accuracy, according to AP. Late Thursday, Matt Drudge reported CBS has launched an internal probe into whether "60 Minutes II" had aired fraudulent documents. According to Drudge, a top CBS source said, "The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake. If we are in error, it will be corrected." http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-bush10.html

  12. Speaking of these hurricanes. I called my travel agent Tuesday night to check up on the hotel for our honeymoon. It's in the Bahamas so I figured i'd make sure everything is ok after Frances camped out over it. He tells me..."Actually, I was gonna call ya as soon as I got a bit more information, but I got a fax about hour and fifteen minutes ago that said they are closing the hotel down till the 25th" I was like WHAT??????? We're suppose to check in the 20th...what are we gonna do. He said "they suffered some superficial damage, but since they were fixing that...they figured they would do some other work too and they didn't want guests dealing with construction so they shut it down." Im like okkkkkkkk...now again...what the hell are we suppose to do? He said we can book at another Sandals or get a full refund...or wait till the 25th and go. Basically we can do whatever we want. Well my fiance was fine with this whole thing. As much as she was dying to go to the bahamas before...even though it was hurrican season...she was gettin kinda freaked out as of recent...so she is kinda happy all this happened. Anyway, I started scrambling to try and find something in mexico. I found this place (Palace Resorts) and have read about 100 reviews from people....Id say 90% had great things to say about it... so I booked it. I hope it all turns out well. Hopefully Ivan doesn't clip this place. To compound that...my fiance sends me this today......"i went to the florist this morning....cross your fingers because they get all their shipments from miami and as of right now the airport is closed and they are not getting any flowers" I'm not that upset about it...It's kinda hard to be mad when these hurricanes have affected so many other people far worse. I mean..my fiance really wasn't upset, she is very laid back...but she couldn't believe that I wasn't fuming. When she asked why I said...People have died, lost their homes, lost their possesions....all we have to do is change our plans. We have no business complaining. Now if all that hurricane did was smash my hotel and then dissipate out to sea without affecting anyone else...I'd be raising all hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know that was said all along...I thought the prosecution was saying she was raped...I never heard them say she was sodomized.

It's just my opinion from comments I heard throughout the trial to some facts that were presented, but mostly...it's what I get out of Kobe's statement. It just sounds to me like underneath it all....that is what happened. I think she was happy to hook up with him...happy to go to his room, hell even happy to have sex, but not happy when she got something she wasn't expecting and rightfully so..IF it's what happened...she was raped. Kobe's statement: “First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colorado. “I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney and even hearing her testify in person, I now understand how she sincerely feels that she did not consent to this encounter.” “I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward — that part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of Colorado.”

So basically...if I'm reading between the lines right....minus all the legal mumbo jumbo...Kobe went back door and that's not what the victim signed up for!! That's what this sounds like to me. This is just an opinion since I really don't know all the facts here. I think she wanted him and was all about gettin hot and heavy with him...and was a willing participant and then he turned her around over the chair and she was still willing cause she thought she was gonna get it doggy style and then Kobe, to use a baseball term, slid in under the tag. The victim has been arguing the call ever since. But if this was all really the case....why didn't they say she was sodomized by Kobe?? Edit: I also would like to add, if the events I described above are accurate and Kobe went back door and that's when the accuser said STOP and he didn't......he raped her!! I don't care how into it they were. Hell, I don't care if they were having ALL KINDS of sex in different postions. IF in one of the postions he went diving for starfish and she said NO...then its NO. If he didn't stop...he raped her.
  16. you tried this question months ago.... Yes my lifestyle has changed for the better!!!!!!!!!! Since 2001 I bought: A townhouse and finished my basement $$$. A new car. A new bedroom set. A new dining room set. A 60 inch TV. DVD players. $1200 worth of flooring s***...I'm getting married...Don't even ask me how much the fricken ring and wedding bands and wedding gift were. Our honeymoon our hall...and that is just the big purchases...Im not counting 100 bucks for this 100 for that... I'm doing well...I am making 42% more now than I was at this time 4 years ago. I know I know, now is where you tell me...."yeah, um but you're in the minority" My answer isn't good ...if its not the answer you want. The company I work for is successful, my friends are all working and doing fine, my cousin who just graduated college got a job right away. I know some people are having trouble, but it certanly isn't as gloom and doom as people make it out to be. I don't know anyone unemployeed right now. I don't even know anyone who knows anyone. I have known people that had their company's close and the ones that didn't want to collect unemployment for a while, got jobs right away. Fact is I don't attribute others successes or my successes to bush being in office, nor would I attribute a lack of successes to bush being in office. You want to paint this picture like all is bad because of Bush. Gimmie a break.
  17. I did vote against guns...just before I got this gift and now Im voting for guns
  18. I just hit 500!! I rock All insightful and very worthwhile!!
  19. Happy B-day Tex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! party like a rock star
  20. I need someone to draw the design for the back of our bowling shirts. We're looking for something like a car smashing through pins. Maybe have like 4 or 5 lanes with regualr pins set up and the middle lane with a car smashed into the pins with the pins flying all different directions....Can anyone do something like that in photoshop or something. I wouldn't worry about color cause we'll prolly get it silk screened in just black. I have no idea if this is even possible for anyone here, but just thought I'd ask. Thanks!!
  21. I will probably not vote in the Illinois race. Obama has a pretty far left voting record. It hasn't been reported much and if you go by what ya see on tv, he appears pretty moderate. I will not vote for someone as liberal as him. I will also not vote for someone as radical as Keyes just cause I am right of center. Illinois...thanks, but no thanks!
  22. It's your sig. The sight that you have that picture linked to has exceeded it's bandwidth.
  23. I understood what he said....I think most intelligent people without an agenda understood it too. He was simply stating we won't have a time when we say "ok the war on terror is over...we won" It is an ongoing battle and we will continue to win it every day. I'm glad that he doesn't think it is just going to end with a "we won". I'm glad he feels we will need to be on alert and ready from here on out. "I don't think you can win it" doesn't mean we are going to lose...it means there isn't a definitive end to something like the war on terror. Of course the left twist it as if the president is really saying that the US is weak and can't win the war. Yeah, cause that makes a lot of sense. In fact it is so ludicrous...I think it hurst the dems to even say it. The majority of independents out there aren't stupid. They know if the dems push this then they're either pusing bulls*** and hyperbole or they're too dumb to understand what the president meant. Neither helps them out.
  24. Would something like "Wake up....and smell the s*** you're shoveling" , be a personal attack?? Cause basically all I am saying is... "Arise from your slumber and identify the fragrance of falsehoods you are excavating" Doesn't seem so bad to me....but let me know
  25. What's the first headline I saw on Yahoo this morning..... Presidential Elections - AP Giuliani Leads GOP Attacks Against Kerry Out of that WHOLE speech....that is what the AP came up with??? what a joke. I thought both speeches were great.
