QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 7, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) I'm sure we will be hearing the usual whining from the Canucks fans. The "refs suck" "bulls*** penalties" "NHL is rigged conspiracy" etc.. no doubt...but it's pretty clear they're just playing stupid and totally fell apart. -

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 7, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) "Chicago is not a better team than us," Luongo said. "They're not playing better than us. They are just doing a better job in front of the net on both sides. Dustin is doing a good job of what he's doing and he's not getting called for it so he's taking advantage of it. I love this quote from Luongo. Bulletin board material definitely. What a little baby. He looks for the ref after almost every goal. -

QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 6, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) A few comments here: First of all, Vancouver DOES have to make the 'Hawks pay in the crease in front of Luongo. You all are hilarious in the blatent homerism here in that they should just stand around like little girls and let the 'Hawks muscle them. I saw the goals for the hat trick, and he is playing right in the crease, but I don't think it's wrong, just so I'm clear. It's what you have to do in the playoffs to win. Anyway, in case you haven't noticed, the difference is the play in front of the net in the last two games, and Vancover hasn't responded (at least what parts of the games I've seen). I'm just saying. Second: Vancouver can and would stay with the 'Hawks in an uptempo game. See game one. You open up the ice, they have some pretty good offensive weapons. Third: I do agree, however, the "kill the 'Hawks at all costs" crap on some of the Canuck boards are useless people who don't know the game. It'll be interesting to see what happens in game 4, but as I said in my post above, Chicago has responded well to the game one callout. I don't even know what this means. Who said that's what Vanvouver should do?? IMO they are making the Hawks pay for being in front of Luongo...It's just the Hawks are willing to take the abuse. Buff and Taser have been getting their asses kicked for standing there. If you're Vancouver yeah you need to keep doing it. The problem is when you put your focus on clearing a guy out and make no mistake moving Big Buff demands all your focus, you're sacrificing space for someone else and inadvertantly adding traffic in front of the net. Not to mention you risk pushing him backwards into your own goalie I also agree the Canucks can play with the Hawks up tempo...but that doesn't mean they'll win. The Hawks are versatile. They are built for the playoffs in that they can play both games. They have speed and physicality. I won't speak for anyone else, but as an avid fan, I've hoped all year that they would get another physical presence in this lineup. So for anyone to say this is a goon and bruising team is someone that's not watching them. They are more of a finesse team and have been all year. They averaged 3.2 goals and 34 shots a game in the reg season....that's not a bruising team...it's an offensive team. Vancouver is right there averaging 3.4 goals, so IMO the only way Vancouver can win is if they go the finesse route, but I wouldn't necessarily call them better at it. They'll just be more breakaways happening if they play that style. Then again...that goes both ways and we have a few guys that can put it away. Game 4 should be good tonight....I have a feeling it's gonna get dirty though. -

Just heard this idiot on Mully and Hanley(Rosenbloom was in for Mully) Glad to hear both of them basically tell him to shove it and worry about getting our state in order. They both pretty much just said this is political stunt. Great game. Niemi stood on his head in the first. Hossa showed up with a great effort. Steeger has played much better in the playoffs then the regular season. I think Seabs has been the best D-man on the ice. The dude is freaky strong. What can I say about Buff. He was a soft player in the regular season and has now turned up the intensity in the playoffs. I'm not even talking about the goals, which are nice, but just his overall play and feistiness. AT 6'4 257 he's almost always biggest player on the ice...he needs to keep playing like it. Now lets step on their throats Friday! The whining going on over there is hilarious. "I can't believe what the Refs have let the Hawks get away with. Byfuglien has spent more time in the crease than Luongo. On the last goal there were two Hawks in the crease pushing Luongo into his own net followed by the puck. Byfuglien didn't know where the puck was, he was just intent on pushing Luongo in. What were the Refs watching? It seems that anything goes when it comes to interfering with Luongo. Where is the consistency with calls? Last week a Washington player just touches the Canadiens goalie and a goal is called back. The Hawks are steamrollering Luongo and nothing is called. The Canucks are being all politically correct by not criticising the Refs but this is pathetic.I am beginning to believe the theories that the NHL has dictated to the Refs that they want Chicago to win this series. Disgusting!!" "Please Blackbird fans and Buttman fans just go home and laugh. You cannot do it without running the goaltender. Just take a look at the tape. 3 goals and 3 goaltender take downs. Learn how to play the game. You remind me of the Philly GOONS and you play just like them. PLEASE LEARN HOW TO PLAY HOCKEY>" -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) Sponsorship? What, for citizenship? If you are here illegally, you shouldn't be able to do any such thing. If you are here legally, fine, sponsor them, within the bounds of the law. But if the plan is to grant citzenship to all these people..hence making them here legally. They then can legally bring over...their parents, their spouse and their children right away. They can apply to bring over... Unmarried adult sons and daughters, Married sons and daughters, Brothers and Sisters.... although there are backlogs and quotas to how many can come over each year. If "whatever number of illegal aliens you believe are here right now" are granted citzenship and then go and bring over their immediate family...which can be rather large in the hispanic community. How can this country support it? Where is the line drawn? What do we do with aging parents of adult immigrants? They will put a major burden on this country's social services. Services, most of us have paid into for our entire lives and they will have paid zero into. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 3, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) Having machine guns set up to automatically kill anything that moves = murder in most sane people's standards. I'm not agreeing with that by the way. I just think they meant for it more like self defense. Kinda like defending your home from intruders...if someone breaks in and I shoot and kill him...it's not murder. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 3, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) Of the 4 other couples at the table, none of them disagreed with that suggestion. In fact, they all thought it was reasonable. I was floored. Perhaps I was raised differently but advocating murder is unacceptable. Think you need to look up the word murder. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) Not sure what you'd do specifically about that, and I don't think you need to worry about it if you can shore up border controls and dry up the demand. They can revert it back to spouses and minor children only. Pretty much any immediate family member can be sponsored now. -

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 2, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) I like Bolland, but things just haven't been the same with the team since he came back. Not saying it's anything, but like SS alluded to, somethings off with them and it just makes you wonder. Agree and I'm also a Bolland fan. I can't put my finger on it either...Bolland or the Oympics or what....but they have definitely lost something. Early this year they looked like one of the Detroit teams in their hey day. Crisp tape to tape passes, burying their shots to the goalies weak spots, winning the puck battles, entering the zone effectively, dominating defensively. It seems everything has gone down a notch or two. That's what's frustrating and why it's so hard to label it on one person or thing. Keith has been a different player the last month...pucks are constantly sliding off his stick..he's making bad decisions. Hossa....yes he scored after that 5 minute penalty, but find me anyone with skates that wouldn't have banged that home. he needs to start earning. Uggh...they all need to get it together... I wish they had splits for Pre and Post Olympic, but they don't. Shots against Pre Allstar - 24.4 Shots against Post Allstar - 27.1 Shots against Playoffs - 27.7 Shots against have increased as the year went on and the Shots taken has dropped. They averaged 34.1 shots in the regular season and the shot differential was at 9. Now they are averaging 31 shots and the differential is 3. Slumping offense and defense is a bad recipe for winning. They need to snap out of it tonight...we all saw what kind of dominating team they could be early in the season.... -

QUOTE (NIUSox @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) I've been going to the Canucks message board the last few days and they all are in agreement that they hate Buff. This is great news, Buff was awesome in front of Luongo last year. BTW Canuck fans may be the whiniest fans in all of sports. Everything I have read over there is that the refs weren't calling anything on the Hawks last year, and we were/are a dirty team. They also think that there is a conspiracy that the NHL doesn't want a Canadian team to win the cup. It always gives me a good laugh going over there. Honestly, I think the Hawks are one of the least dirty teams in the NHL. I could be biased, but I do watch a lot of hockey and we just don't have alot of dirty players. I think Buff and Ladd will do some s*** to get under peoples skin. Eager and Burish will attempt to hit and fight, but I don't see them taking cheap shots. Everyone else is pretty laid back and while they'll retaliate, they're rarely the aggresors as far as after the whistle stuff. How do you guys see it? -
Obama: “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money” Shareposted at 8:48 am on April 29, 2010 by Ed Morrissey Via News alert and Breitbart TV, consider this Share the Wealth 2010. Barack Obama went off the TelePrompter in his speech to a Quincy, Illinois audience about Wall Street reform. After saying that Democrats don’t begrudge success that’s “fairly earned,” Obama then ad-libs — and reveals more about himself than he probably wanted: We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money. But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy. Compare that to his remarks as prepared for delivery: Now, we’re not doing this to punish these firms or begrudge success that’s fairly earned. We don’t want to stop them from fulfilling their responsibility to help grow our economy. He should have stuck with the TelePrompter. The President doesn’t get to decide when people have “made enough money.” In fact, as the radio host notes, that’s a statist point of view. Furthermore, the responsibility of an entrepreneur isn’t to “grow our economy,” core or otherwise. It’s to grow his own economy. In a properly regulated capitalist system, the natural tension of self-interests create economic growth through innovation and efficient use of capital and resources. Put simply, a free people work for themselves, not for the government. Barack Obama seems to have a problem understanding that.
