  1. The rumor that seems to be building some steam is the 3 way deal involving the White Sox, Dodgers and Yankees. Yanks get Kevin Brown, Dodgers get Frank Thomas and the Sox get Jeff Weaver. Again, only a rumor I've heard. I don't like it. Trading a guy who's entire career has been with the Sox for a guy who has openly admitted that he hates the Sox.
  2. My initial reply was merely a question. Nothing more, nothing less. You were the one who became defensive about it. I was never derogatory towards you, but you felt the need, since your initial reply back to me, to name call and threaten me, then have the gall to tell me to act like an adult. Unreal.
  3. I know you are not the only one who said anything about this, that was my point. And in case you missed it, this is a community message board, so your "sticking your nose where it doesn't belong" argument doesn't apply. People post and people reply. Your message didn't begin with "Hey Joe Blow, I told you so", so who the he11 knows who it's directed to. And if your little "Now stop stirring the pot.. unless you want to get burned" is supposed to be a threat, that's just grand. A threat over an internet message board. Next, maybe we could have a cyber-fight.
  4. No he's not here, but most on the board knew that was going to be the case. NY was a good guess, but again, many others speculated NY might be an option as well. NY is a good guess for every top free agent. And if I recall correctly, Andy Pettite to Houston was mentioned by others as well, but you don't see them running up and down the halls of soxtalk.com saying "I was right, I was right". Some people just feel the need to toot their own horn I guess.
  5. Kid, which cubs baord did you see that on? I saw it on the ESPN board and the dude who posted it had the 'handle' of cub_h8er and posted the following quote... I doubt he was a cubs fan.
  6. My love for the Sox has never been stronger, but to be quite honest the cubs may end up spoiling my White Sox World Series dream. If the cubs happen to win the World Series, my thoughts are that it takes some of the luster out of our WS victory, whenever that may be. I guess the fact that both teams have waited a long time since their last WS victories, the cubs wait obviously longer, it has been sort of a race to see who wins one first. Say the cubs win it this year and 2 years from now the Sox win it, it seems to be tarnished a bit. The fact that most cubs fans will throw the fact that they won a WS a few years earlier and the fact that I can't see the media giving us nearly the attention that the cubs are getting. I guess the only way to shut those people up from there would be to meet and beat the cubs in the WS. I don't know if this makes sense to you guys or not. I guess living near and working in Chicago, you get the full effect of these morons. If you are from elsewhere, you may not understand this because you don't get the full dosage of the idiocy.
  7. I've noticed that same thing since the second half of 2000. As soon as there are expectations of this team, they fold, asses pucker, whatever you want to call it. Last year, once they were out of it, they played a nice last month of baseball. This is nothing new.
  8. This teams mentality never ceases to amaze me. Still a fight for second? If I'm not mistaken, the Twins haven't won the division yet. Albeit a very, very long shot, the magic number is still 2. But we're fighting for second. Unbelievable. You sounds surprised that they have quit? I am kind of surprised that Frank said that to the press, but I guess it really shouldn't surprise me when he does something like that... No, not surprised. I guess just amazed at the way the team I root for thinks. Playing for second when the division isn't even wrapped up. Wow.
  9. I wonder if Joe Torre is getting ripped in NY today for his decision to stick with Weaver?
  10. This teams mentality never ceases to amaze me. Still a fight for second? If I'm not mistaken, the Twins haven't won the division yet. Albeit a very, very long shot, the magic number is still 2. But we're fighting for second. Unbelievable.
  11. Thanks Jason. I looked through there earlier, but must have looked right over it. Love the site.
  12. The twins magic number is a joke. Like I said in an earlier post, the Sox are just eliminating themselves. They mailed it in this weekend. Like Hawk said after the game, KC looks like the team that wants to catch the twins.
  13. cwsox... I got it in an email the other day. I'm a Notre Dame fan, so someone was trying to brighten my day after the beating we took. I thought it was clever as well, but can't take the credit. The email subject line was "Clarett's Plate", but I highly doubt it. Don't think he's bright enough. Tough loss for your guys against Oregon the other day. Gonna be a long year for the Irish.
  14. How do you remove the avatar or basically go back to nothing under your username? Thanks in advance.
  15. Pathetic. That about says it all. This team couldn't even finish out the season, a big :fyou to the fans. The twins don't have to worry about their magic number, this team will eliminate itself. No heart, no pride, nothing. Third place, here we come. Garland...showed some promise the last month of last season and this year looked to build on that at times, but his last few outings have been horendous. Frank...MVP? yeah f***ing right. Not even close Loaiza...Cy Young? 20 wins? Oh that's right, you're sick. You fit in perfect with this bunch, they're full of excuses. The batter's box is too small, we don't hit pitchers we haven't seen before very well, the hitting background isn't good, etc., etc., etc......... Signed, One frustrated fan
  16. My guess would be Everett as well. I hope he spills his guts when this season is over. Rest assured that if the Sox don't sign him this offseason, he'll be the one guy to tell what's really going on in the clubhouse.
  17. Mientkiewicz is a jackass. Kenny Williams had the best thing to say about him when Mientkiewicz popped off about USC shouldn't hold the All-Star game (after the ump attack)...something along the lines of 'he doesn't have to worry, he won't be here' Mientkiewicz and Pierzinski look like a couple of f**s anyway. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I personally wouldn't go down that street though.
  18. Ive never had a problem with the truth, so i dont have a problem with these comments at all. Same here, what do you want him to say after they just beat our asses? "damn, those white sox are good. everyone should vote for frank and magglio. shannon stewart and torii hunter don't deserve a damn thing." I think not. Speak your mind and back it up. And that's what he'll do. But Torri Hunter? Sorry, .250 hitters with a .312 OBP are not MVP's. Defense yeah.
  19. Torri Hunter? He has to be joking.
  20. Alex.. Sorry man, I didn't know it was you and you should put it back up. I'd put my picture up, but I don't know how to use all those controls. Plus, I'm ugly as hell and wouldn't do that to you guys. Please accept my apology, the comment was uncalled for. You bring alot to the table here at Soxtalk.
  21. 50,000? I wouldn't want to lose partial hearing for that amount. Unbelievable, the fvck-ups in this country get off too easy, Ligue, Clarrett suing OSU, etc. Un-fvckin'-believable
  22. I always thought it was someone from a boy band. I thought that too, but whoever it was, I'm glad "He Gawn!"
