  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Well maybe if you analyzed a little closer, you'd know there's a difference between the trade deadline vs. April, June, and December, roughly the time frame when those three transactions occured. Give up the farm? Good Lord, what's next, the White Sox just ruined their future? Well than I suppose making a move now, when the value of relievers is apparently through the roof, is also an indictment of Williams inability to get a deal done sooner. I mean if relievers are expensive in July, but cheap in June, WTF are you buying them for in July?
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) No, the first priority of any major league organization should be winning. And when you're contending and you have good players, add to it. Your valuation of the trade market is a bit askew IMO. Relief pitching is at a major premium this year, just about every contender wants to add to their bullpen. I know you somehow feel Williams should always get a lot and not give up anything, but that's not reality. Thornton for DFA candidate Borchard Riske for AAAA non-roster invitee Lopez Jenks off of waivers Using high ceilinged arms for bullpen help is not a good idea. I don't care what Krivsky did. You don't have to give up the farm to get good bullpen help, especially one with as sketchy a history as MacDougal.
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Shouldn't that be 4 ER? Punto was Neal's runner. No. Punto reached via FC.
  4. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) why is morneau batting 5th instead of 4th? not complaining... just wondering Because Torii Hunter's on the DL. Otherwise he'd be 6th.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Who is Roger Bossert, I've seen this name mentioned a few times. no idea... But Roger Bossard is the White Sox head groundskeeper.
  6. terrible.move. Alomar should report directly to the Field Museum. He'd be more at home on exhibit next to Sue than standing in the box Tuesday vs. Santana.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Wasn't Freddy Garcia traded for at like 5:05 or 6:05 on a Sunday? actually I think it was more like 3:30 on a saturday.
  8. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) I thought I remember hearing somewhere that Stewart does an excellent job handling Haeger's knuckler. Can anyone shed more light on how well he handles Haeger? Also, could it be that a move is in the works that would involve Haeger coming up resulting in Widger being DFA'd and Stewart coming up as Haeger's caddy? QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) I really doubt Chuck comes back up. Stew does do a pretty good job, but if you've got a guy throwing like 80% knucklers, the passed balls stick out....let me see how many he has. He IS our best defensive catcher in the system that can hit a ball at all. The last time I checked, Stewart had only caught 1 Haeger start this season. Matos has been him primary catcher.
  9. That was educational. Boning is good, kids.
  10. Cunningham is looking like a nice prospect. Obviously has work to do with the strikeouts, but good power, decent speed, decent eye. He has a chance to be a good one.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) Former Sox organization member, Alex Escobar, looks very good in his brief stint this season. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Oddly enough, as so many assumed Owens was stolen for him, Escobar probably could really help the White Sox this season if he could remain healthy which probably is a huge question. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) He can bearly walk right now, everytime you see him run he's hobbling. I doubt he makes it through the week without going back on the DL. Plus he's been put back through waivers, going unclaimed. Escobar wasn't wanted by anyone. Maybe if he does something for the rest of the season he can earn a back-up role next year. but more than likely he'll just get hurt again and pass through waivers a few more times before he calls it a career.
  12. Gload on deck. I hope we tie this so we get to see a defensive OF of Gload-Pods-Dye with Cintron at SS.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) If Ozzie lets Anderson bat vs Otsuka, I'm going to throw my remote. He has to. He has no CFer if he doesn't.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) Just slumping bigtime. What can you say. Your excuse book is a large one.
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) I disagree. After his first 15 pitches, Bobby's stats become rather miserable (8.64 ERA during pitches 16-30). ERA based on # of pitches is flawed stat. Not many pitchers can have a high ERA on pitches 1-15 because, well, 15 pitches is an average inning. So for a guy who works out of the pen, pitches #16-30 are usually made when they are struggling to get out of an inning. This is not news, and shouldn't really be cited as a reason to sit Bobby.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Cause we have a 2nd baseman playing in left field. obviously, the solution is to trade for a different 2B to play LF.
