  1. Why sign or give QOs to solid pitchers in their 20s, when they can overpay on end of career guys with gargantuan ERAs in their mid 30s. Bonus for being a finger pointing d-bag.
  2. Between adult responsibilities and Jerry Reinsdorf, my fandom has waivered over time. Currently in following but boycott Jerry until the Reinsdorfs are out. Will likely attend 20 + games a year once / if they are before I die. Dual Sox/Cubs fan ages 6-9 (1975-1978) Excusive Sox fan after NW side Cub fans gave me s%*# age 10 (1979-1990). Had weekend season tickets, went to 1983 playoffs, worked at the ballpark in 1986. Attended first night game at Comiskey II on scalped tickets, boycotted beyond free tickets through 2002. Broke boycott, attended a significant number of games (2003-2006). Busy with work, followed team but not closely (2007-2018), attended games when I could. Retired in July 2019, attended many games in second half. Excited with rebuild and to attend first ever Spring Training March 2020. Postponed season tickets until 2021 due to planned long trip to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand in September / October 2020), but planned on going to many 2020 games through August. Government lockdowns and Jerry cancelled most of 2020, owner lockout out in 2022, Jerry's treatment of minor league players, Boycotting until Jerry and family are gone, still following most games. Going to first Sox game since spring training 2020 on Saturday (comped tickets, won't spend a penny inside). Mikolas vs. Touki the likely starters LMAO. First regular season game since the Doubleheader on Saturday September 28th, 2019.
  3. If they only spent as much research and effort in scouting ballplayers, only spent as much time and effort with legitimate player analytics (i.e. not Dave Duncan's son to placate Tony) versus conducting ticket analytics, perhaps the Sox would have advanced in the playoffs more than one season since 1917. Perhaps they would not be sitting 12 games under .500 this year, or under .500 since May 2021 after the Tony / Yermin and Tony / Liam baserunner debacles. https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2022/2/15/22934905/white-sox-ticket-scam-broker-bruce-lee
  4. He faced two left handers. Will hopefully have consistent success against RHP and return to being Tim again for the second half.
  5. This is just typical jerry Reinsdorf / insular White Sox bullshit whining. Milwaukee moved to the National League in 1997, the Sox have played a whopping five more games against Pittsburgh (36 to 31) over the twenty five years before going to the play every interleague team 3-4 games this season. Getting the Yankees on an off-summer weekday series benefits them because they can draw 10K + more per game than they would have with people showing up anyway because of Summer weather or a promotion, In terms of West Cost Travel and Home stands, here are the past several years of reality: 2023: Perfect scheduling. Two full week trips, week long homestand in between. 2022: Perfect scheduling. Two full week trips, week long homestands in between the first, short trip to Cleveland/Detroit before returning home. San Diego (after Minnesota) the anomaly due to facing additional West games based on NL West interleague (Colorado and San Diego). 2021: Perfect scheduling. Full week after Spring Training (low travel) followed by full week homestand, Oakland the lone other West Coast Trip, week long homestand before and after. 2020: Perfect scheduling. Owners cancelled most of the season, zero West Coast trips. 2019: The schedule had three separate trips out west, so guess they could have had two back to back series for two of the three (post ASB mid July Oak/KC/TB; mid August LAA/Min, mid September Sea/Min), but had week plus homestands before/after each trip, and none were "back out to the coast" as they fell over three different months. 2018: Perfect scheduling. Two trips / 3 series total. One series in between two week homestands in April, one week for the other two series in July sandwiched between two week long homestands. 2017: Perfect scheduling. NL West Interleague, one three series trip sandwiched between two weeklong homestands in May, two other pairings (Oakland / Colorado & LAD/Texas) also sandwiched between week plus long home stands in July and August. 2016: Perfect scheduling. Opened the season from Spring Training to Oakland, one other West Coast trip (Angels and Seattle) sandwiched between week long homestands.
  6. Travel to/ from the West Coast the likely reason. Teams / players advocate for off days after these kind of flights.
  7. Yes, this is why I don’t get down on players beyond scumbags like Clevinger, and a few finger pointing d-bags who don’t respect their teammates (Keuchel is one of the few I recall approaching 50 years of fandom). Glad Carlos and Ashley got the family, contract, and baseball situation they deserved, and hope the players in the Sox organization can also experience this joy one day either through regime change or free agency.
  8. Catchers: Zavala (Giolito, Cease, Kopech), Grandal (Lynn, Banks). Infielders: Vaughn (1B), Remillard (2B), Anderson (SS), Burger (3B), Andrus (Reserve). DH: Eloy (Permanent). Outfield: Benintendi, Robert, Colas, Sheets (4th OF), Hamilton (5th OF). Transaction: Sosa for Perez Keep Elvis to have someone if you flip Tim. Pending Transaction: Lambert up if Shaw sucks once or twice more. "We Got To Pray, Just To Make It Today." - White Sox Mission Statement So
  9. Meghan will always stand by her man. Well, if there is still cash to be had.
  10. Both Ron and Larry were fired after the third (Ron 95 win) and fourth (Larry 94 win) highest win totals during Reinsdorf’s four decades plus stint. Chalk it up to Jerry’s douchebaggery and preference of cronies over competence. Hence eleven seasons of Rick Hahn. White Sox Highest Season Win Totals 100 1917 (WS) 99 1983 & 2005 (WS) 98 1964 96 1920 95 1965 & 2000 94 1954; 1959 (AL); 1963; 1990; 1993
  11. There have only been two seasons with more losses through June 30 than this season. The worst was of course also led by Rick Hahn The other by Larry Himes who built the early 1990s "multi-championship contention window" closed by Jerry in 1994 when he cancelled a potential White Sox vs. Expos World Series. Most White Sox Losses through June 30th (1901-2023): 54 2018 (Rich Hahn) 50 1989 (Larry Himes) 48 2023 (Rick Hahn); 1998 (Ron Schueler); 1970 (Ed Short) Ed Short was fired in September. Larry Himes was fired one year later. Ron Schueler was fired two years later. Rick Hahn is here five years later, with no signs he is going anywhere.
  12. DVS from the Sun Times called it "pulled for unspecified reasons", perhaps Rick will tell us Tuesday if he is not off to attend a Fourth of July parade in the suburbs.
  13. Who wanted Jake Lamb in RF? Who wanted Andrew Vaughn in LF? Who wanted Steak Dinner extended here for two more years, crippling the staff who could use an actual decent starter? Lance is only motivated at this stage by revenge because he isn't physically capable of fielding bunts. He has been horseshit since he s%*# the bed in the playoffs. But he pitched for Tony in 2012, Tony vouched for him. Tony also wanted a 3 year extension for his 'everyday reserve" Leury, DFA'd one third into the contract.
  14. 2020 Ricky Renteria 35-25 .583 2021 Tony La Russa 93-69 .574 2022 Tony La Russa 81-81 .500 I actually felt for La Russa, was glad he turned his life around resigning to take care of his obvious health issues. Just not a good manager without a decade plus of Balco syringes and two HOF GMs. His legacy would be much stronger if he stayed retired in the FO and manager seat after 2012.
  15. Yep, part of my point in the other thread. Crochet in the same boat. Romy a big loss due to his flexibility and superiority over players like Andrus or even Frazier. Not that it matter at this point with Sox sellers, but hope he can finish the season here, and return at least as a solid flexible reserve player who can adequately cover the middle infield and OF corners.
  16. I think most here rooting against the Sox are primarily doing so hoping for wholesale changes with the FO if they finish with a 95-100+ loss season. I feel bad for the players who by and large deserve better, with one large exception.
  17. Would have been epic if they blew it. Missed the game today, nice to see they hit well at least. Will be tough to win more than 2 next week, especially with two more bullpen games. Thank you Hahn.
  18. I agree with just about all of this, including Hahn is the primary person responsible for this s%*# show. Some are arguing things I didn't say. What I said was: La Russa wasn't "run out of here". He had bad health issues, likely including continued alcoholism, and barely functioned as a human being his two years here until he was detoxed. The moves Hahn and La Russa made over the two years were bad. La Russa had a bigger role in these moves than a Ricky or Pedro. Hinch inherited a much shittier team two and a half seasons ago, and they are better at this point. Some of the reoccurring issues would have been corrected. Hinch's input would have been superior to signing guys who played for Tony in Saint Louis, Arizona or Anaheim.
  19. And Eaton and Lynn among others. The entire thing was a disaster then, and the team is still feeling the effects today with nine figures committed to s%*# that would have been much better spent on others. Then again, it's Hahn spending, so there's that. Would have been nice if Hinch could have helped bring the Sox into the 21st century in terms of modern baseball ideas, player development, analytics. Instead we got Dave Duncan's son. They weren't "over" ,500, they were ,500 last year. Ricky had a much better record in 2020, and had a better playoffs in 2020. This gaslighting of the two years of La Russa is beyond laughable. You're like that clown Nightengale who wants to give Tony another HOF plaque. Tony La Russa is s%*#. Rick Hahn is s%*#. Jerry Reinsdorf is s%*#. Period.
  20. Yes, that Thursday start vs. LH starter seemed to be a spark. It's a shame that ball didn't hit the pole yesterday. Just hope he keeps doing well for his sake, perhaps he can get traded to a better situation, though the Sox will be going into a multiyear tank if he does, which seems to be the direction the Sox will be going the final six months.
  21. How are they going to get the win without going five? White Sox Baseball
  22. Baltimore is through 22 innings this weekend and have scored 1 run. Not that the Sox deserve help at this point. Cheering for the Guardians or Detroit to win the division from here on out, barring a 22 game White Sox win streak to close out July.
  23. I am honouring one of my favorite players from the 2005 World Series, Joe Crede, for my 24th Win of the Day achieved July 1st, 2023.

  24. I have been for shitcanning Hahn since 2015. Took a lot of s%*# here for being consistent throughout, even after his "executive of the "year"" bullshit. Same with "120 Games a Year Elite" Grandal's pathetic deal. That said, Hinch is a much better manager than either Tony or Pedro, and 2021 and beyond could have turned out much better with him in place. Question for you and Tony - I believe we all feel Pedro and Ricky had minimal input in roster construction. What do you feel Tony's role was in terms of acquisitions and trades? I contend a lot. Doesn't absolve Hahn for all the s%*# before and after, but Tony only exacerbated the bad decisions during his 2 years.
  25. I'm talking about roster / off-season moves. Nobody knows for sure if Tony had lone decision making, but the garbage trades and signings of guys like Steak Dinner from Saint Louis, Jake Lamb from Arizona, Brian Goodwin from Tony's Anaheim days, horseshit "crafty veteran" types like Adam Eaton and playing Leury everyday, likely the guy who pushed his 3 year deal. Ricky and Pedro had/have no say. I don't believe a quality candidate like Hinch would have accepted a job here without a major voice in terms of roster decisions. Also think there would be far better communication between the manager / coaches / players and training staff, far better injury management, no lingering for several days unplayable before being placed on the IL. No cockamamie La Russa mismanagement of the development of both Kopech and Crochet, knowledge of the rule book, not the "old school book". Tony La Russa was drunk and senile, wanted to be the players grandpa, only held rookies accountable. Pedro is out of his element. Ricky held players accountable, but Hahn treated him as his personal b****, with Hahn's Game 3 Bullpen Game and subsequent s%*# canning him after extending him 60 games prior.
