This is the start of the stretch where this team plays up to its potential.

Starts with a sweep of Indians.

White Sox go 40-20 over the next 60 games and lead the AL Central by the end of it.

Since when has Brooks Boyer been "chief revenue officer," by the way?

Boyer is Reinsdorf John McDonough, and I’d fire him ahead of even Rick Hahn as my first action as new owner.

Anderson is angling for a Sox job. Cronyism is the one attribute required to succeed in a Reinsdorf organIzation.

    • Team pitching WAR in 2023 is 1.5, good for 26th in baseball.
    • 4.11 BB/9 is good for 29th in baseball.
    • Team 5.55 ERA is good for 29th in baseball.
    • Team FIP of 5.04 is good for 29th in baseball.

But sure, keep Katz. This is fine and nothing is on fire.

...The good news is he will be an excellent scapegoat.

I’m fine if a complete organization rebuild occurred, as qualified baseball people brought in a quality candidate. That has never, nor will ever happen under Jerry Reinsdorf.

    Gave proof through the night

    Darryl Boston was still there..

Lucas hired Katz because Hahn didn’t have any ideas, and Tony’s guy didn’t want the job. Still think he is far better than anyone willing to take the job under these circumstances (dying owner, incompetent GM/Manager, weak roster and prospects, weak pay).

Until recently Cease has been Katz's one big success story.  That isn't enough.  Coop may have been a jerk and outlasted his welcome, but he certainly didn't have only one success story every three + years.

Tell me exactly who did Cooper “fix” over his last 16 seasons with the White Sox?

Sale and Quintana didn’t need fixing. If Sale didn’t tell Kenny to go f*** himself, he’d likely be bullpen fodder his entire career here.

Cooper was Kenny’s clubhouse snitch, got his extension behind Ozzie’s back which is why Ozzie left with two games left once he found out about it. That is what he did, and little else, since 2006. He was pitching Daryl Boston.

Shortsighted, dumb organization. Stretch the kid into a starter we need starters BADLY.

If the plan is to remain disciplined and strech him into 2-4 inning appearances over the remaining 4 1/2 months, than that will hopefully build a legitimate base of innings so that he can start 25 or so games next season. Need to allow him to work on 3-4 pitches so he can pitch effectively in a starting role.

Can also determine whether he will have the capacity to exist as a starter at the ML level, can convert him to high leverage after this tryout period. It's good Tony isn't here and there is nothing left to play for so they can possibly have Crochet reach his full potential without worrying about current needs.

    • Kopech's one OK season was in 2022 under Katz.
    • Lucas worked with Katz before his 2019 season, had solid seasons in 2021 and now 2023, also under Katz.
    • Cease had his first good season in 2021 and first great one in 2022, both under Katz.
    • Rodon finally put it all together in 2021, under guess who.

But sure, fire Katz. Sounds like a Rick Hahn plan. Good luck with that.

In 2012 Richard Roeper and I co-hosted the 40th anniversary celebration for Dick and the 1972 White Sox. I can tell you having spoken with Dick's teammates ("Goose" Gossage, Bart Johnson, Hank Allen, Bill Melton, Carlos May, Ed Spiezio, Tom Bradley) for three days and interviewed a number of others NOT ONE MAN said anything negative about Dick.

All praised his ability, his drive, his will to win.

Like Chuck Tanner told me before he died (paraphrasing) 'You tell anybody who says that Dick wasn't a leader is full of s%*#.'

Here is my obit story when Dick passed quoting his teammates:

    https://www.southsidesox.com/2020/12/9/22164784/white-sox-dick-allen-remembered

That's nice and a well deserved tribute.

However, I'm addressing the largely racist contemporary media during his career who found him "uppity", and the Baseball Writers who kept him out of the Hall of Fame, many of whom were the same people.

    https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/50-year-old-bad-press-keeping-dick-allen-hall-fame/

    https://deadspin.com/the-gross-racism-that-cheated-the-legacy-of-dick-allen-1844717189

    https://www.cooperstowncred.com/dick-allen-another-chance-hall-of-fame/

Then you have Jerry Reinsdorf's Crony Veterans Committee statements and actions, sabotaging Dick Allen and putting in arguably the least qualified player in baseball history into the HOF.

    1. Dick Allen 1,749 Games 58.7 bWAR, JAWS 17th (3B)
    2. Harold Baines 2,830 Games 38.8 bWAR, JAWS 76th (RF)

Baines gained election largely on the basis of 2,866 hits, and no doubt was helped by influential committee members Tony LaRussa, his manager in Chicago and Oakland, and Jerry Reinsdorf, the White Sox owner who erected a statue of Baines in Chicago.

I'm not certain any person has ever said any of the guys you have on your list other than Keuchel were are a cancer.

How you included Thomas and Dick Allen renders whatever you were trying to proof as nonsense.

Only two people that wanted Thomas out of town were KW and Guillen.

Benentendi is punchline and has been since he signed his contract.

The entire media crucified Dick Allen as a cancer, Jerry Reinsdorf repeatedly called Dick Allen an unworthy HOF candidate.

There were dozens of post 2022 stories by the media trashing Abreu's lack of leadership, he only cared about himself and his stats, only spoke with Spanish speaking players. Nobody called him a cancer, but everyone trashed him as a "leader" when he simply tried to lead by example by busting his ass and playing every day. People also criticized Harold Baines for being a quiet reserved player, he just went out and did his job.

There is at least loud vocal minority who have called Yoan and Tim cancers for years. Many here praised Keuchel in 2020 when he trashed Renteria and the team. He was a leaker of clubhouse discussions to the media and a self proclaimed leader who needed to speak up and lead a team of losers to winning ways. We all know how that worked out.

Mookie Betts now playing SS pretty regularly this year for LA...his original/first position as a minor league prospect.

Cardinals moved Contreras off catcher for OF/DH and one week later changed their minds.

    This isn't so.

    Mookie Betts 2023:

    1. Right Field (32 Total Appearances, 26 Starts, 20 Complete Games, 231 Innings).
    2. Second Base (9 Total Appearances, 7 Starts, 3 Complete Games, 56 Innings).
    3. Shortstop (7 Total Appearances, 5 Starts, 2 Complete Games, 41 Innings).

Contraras hasn't started anywhere but C and DH this decade. No outfield not even for an inning in Saint Louis or even the Cubs in 2022 (played the final inning in LF and 3B in different games in 2021, zero in 2020.

When you look at Moncada's contract and realize having more versatility boosts his trade value...

That and the fact that Burger suddenly has become a much more viable replacement option at third than he was at the end of 2022.

Betts willingly moving to SS for the good of the team as a former MVP and even CF/RF Gold Glover while Moncada isn't even willing (seemingly) to consider it tells one a lot.

Not only Betts, but Lux, Taylor and Muncy have been willing to move all over the diamond for the ultimate positional flexibility benefit of that franchise.

    Already addressed Betts above.

Lux hasn't played this season, was primarily a 2B last year (102 Games at 2B, 28 in LF and 9 late inning defense substitutions at SS last season (0 starts).

Chris Taylor is a utility player in the mold of Leury Garcia (.644 OPS), with the difference that Taylor can hit (.764 OPS, .736 this age 33 season).

Muncy plays 3B this season (zero starts at 1B or 2B), and played 3B primarily in 2022 (84 Games / 713 Innings vs. 31 Games / 223 Innings at 2B).

  11. Sheets shouldn't be on the roster if Burger, Vaughn and Eloy are on it. 2B and RF need to be filled by players who can play the position.

Yoan is the best 3B and should remain at 3B. No dramatic in season shifts should occur because of Hahn's annual abysmal roster construction and annual holes in RF and 2B.

Any transitions of long standing players sinch as Yoan or Tim should be well thought out and agreed to in October to allow players a full offseason to prepare even before Spring Training.

Tim sure has been apart of alot of losing baseball around these parts. Tim also misses a bunch of baseball games. Yeesh thats alot of missed games. Not good.

What are your expectations for games played by a starter?

Most reasonable people would consider 140 games per season (86% games played) an expected no injury pace.

Shortstop is more taxing than any other position besides catcher. Tim played in 74.1% throughout his career.

Maybe he didn't but again, just my opinion, the entire body of work, the history...the guy doesn't seem like a good teammate. And the fact that he can't stay healthy isn't helping his situation or giving him the benefit of the doubt.

It may be very unfair but if you are the "face of the franchise" then you are expected to play and conduct yourself to a higher standard.

I think he needs to go and I've felt that way for a few years now. Not just him but a number of these other underachievers who seem to be babied.

Tim busted his ass for over 8 seasons and what did it get him? Zero Postseason with the absolute trash Hahn fields year in and year out. He had to play the past two seasons with a senile drunk driving assclown.

I don't blame a single employee (non officers) for hating their current work situation with the White Sox. This is a trash organization, one with a mission statement from their owner to finish in second place. The same team who trashed their greatest players on the way out (Frank Thomas, Carlton Fisk).

The owner and senior executives are among the worst of any sports team. Anyone with any talent would be disgusted with every game they suited up for this clown show, knowing it was completely and utterly futile in terms of team success, and will continue to be until they are finally able to leave and sign elsewhere.

Watching this awful team, I've enjoyed picking up other things from the telecast.  For example, what a douche the scout seat security guy is to the highest paying customers in the stadium.

    What was he doing?

Not surprised because Jerry and his minions are absolute pond scum. Every single officer including Brooks Boyer and Stadium operations Terry Savarise need to be shitcanned yesteryear.

Between the AWOL security staffing with brawls going on for minutes with zero response, to the 45-60 minutes plus just to enter an under 20,000 attended stadium with the lack of gate personnel, to another 15-20+ minute line to enter because the piece of s%*# Reinsdorf conducts the only 100 level / main concourse second ticket inspections across The MLB, again in part because the severely understaffed crew so Jerry can screw over minimum wage workers the state is heavily subsidizing.

This all is intentional, Jerry wants to f*** over the handful of fans still going out to watch his rancid product lead by the dictionary picture of crony incompetence, Rick Hahn.

Really sad that 18,347 bought tickets, I hope attendance drops into the four figure level as the team sinks further into the abyss.
