Since the game thread wasn't stolen today *cough @Lip Man 1 cough* I predict an easy victory.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all win streaks are created equal, that they are endowed by their thread Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, the pursuit of Happiness, and the honour and obligation to create future game threads through completion.

  2. What the Sox need to do is catch Zavala with Giolito and Cease (move the rotation so that they are 1 and 3) and stick fWAR with Lynn, Kopech and the scumbag. Let your starters be comfortable with their preferred catcher. Grandal is subpar at every aspect of catching but framing. Lucas and Dylan can't be confident Grandal will catch their best pitches which may break in the dirt, and thus have to hold back everytime he is behind the plate.

Dylan Cease Catcher Splits (OPS Allowed):

    • .524 Reese McGuire  6 Games
    • .547 Seby Zavala 23 Games
    • .728 Yasmani Grandal 40 Games

    Lucas Giolito Catcher Splits:

    • .613 James McCann 37 Games
    • .665 Seby Zavala 22 Games
    • .731 Yasmani Grandal 30 Games

Intentional tanking or losing games is tantamount to cheating. In addition, it ruins the sport and makes a mockery out of the team and the fan base. Wishing for new ownership does not guarantee more wins or a championship. Loyalty to the team, attendance at games, and taking pride as White Sox fans is what will make a difference.

The problem is, Rick Hahn is the GM embodiment of tanking.

Without looking it up, which records were the result of Hahn promoted tanking seasons, and which were Hahn promoted “trying” seasons?

I’ll hang up and listen to your response.

Yeah, but it’s useless. Does it make everyone feel better to point that vitriol at him when there’s no action taken?

Sometimes it's therapeutic, and it helps build critical mass of disgust at Jerry and Hahn.

I agree the more concrete method is to stop giving Jerry a penny, stop going to their website or engaging in any of their other social media, and if you are part of the TV or radio system, zero ratings. If tickets are a sunk cost, don't spend a penny there including parking, or just don't go.

Set a record low attendance record and cancel their worthless asses. Disgust is working against Bud Light, Fox and other organizations. Jerry / Michael finally took action after people stopped going to Bulls games.

  9. The two areas Hahn did a good to excellent job was acquiring and flipping Eaton, and the Sale/Quintana trades.

Where things fell apart is when he failed to draft/develop much talent beyond these acquisitions plus Paddy's Robert/Abreu signings to have a solid 12-15 player core / 1-9 lineup. The terrible DH and RP heavy roster construction and overpriced veterans on their last deals constrained the ability to address perennial needs at 2B, RF, SP plus additional depth. This led to an act of desperation in dealing cost controlled players like Dunning and Madrigal to acquire high cost end of career veterans like Kimbrel/Pollock, Lynn plus the high priced Keuchel and Grandal signings.

This, not Hahn's 2016-2017 deals, is why the Hahn era needs to end.

Worst GM or not, why in God's name would he be allowed yet another shot to rebuild when he failed in that endeavor as well as failing to compete on the fly from 2013-2016?

What exactly can he do well... besides trade very favorable controlled contracts for those three younger  Sox players?

Let's not forget when he traded Frazier Kahnle Robertson etc., to the Yankees, he got ripped off.

And the Tatis trade, when all is said and done, will cost how much in lost fWAR?

The trade market doesn’t work as it did several years ago when Hahn pawned everything of worth from Kenny plus Hahn’s one shinning moment, Eaton 1.0.

Teams value their top salary controlled prospects far more today (well except for the Sox flipping for Lynn, Kimbrel recently, far worse during their last “window”). The Sox will not see the same returns on an Eaton, Quintana or even Sale in 2023 that you did in 2016.

Juan Soto earned 21.4 bWAR by Age 23 and netted Wood, Haskell and Mackenzie Gore last season.

Max Scherzer (7-0 1.98 ERA w LAD) and Trea Turner (22.3 bWAR through age 28 with Washington) netted Josiah Gray (1.6 bWAR age 25) and  Keibert Ruiz (2.4 / 24).

The White Sox have nobody in these player’s universe in terms of age and production available at the deadline. They will be trading contract relief for marginal prospects in a quest to sink to AL Central Payroll Land.

Career bWAR White Sox Core Players under 30 (7/1/23 Age):

    • 16.0 Benintendi (28)
    • 4.0 Bummer (29)
    • 0.8 Burger (27)

I think finishing 81-81 would be a reach at this point. They will be selling pieces by June. Remember, Jerry recently said- you can still have successful years on the business end of things, he doesn’t mind another 2nd or 3rd place finish. 🥕

Another Rick Hahn rebuild on the way. But it will be classified as a “re-tool” to silence anyone who bashes him for attempting ANOTHER rebuild. Hahn will get fleeced on his deals yet again. Why? Because he’s the worst GM in the MLB.

The Sox have the worst owner in the MLB and the worse GM in the MLB. It will remain as such until Hahn resigns. But why would he resign? They’ll keep cancelling Soxfests before they let their ‘fantastic’ GM leave. He has a job where there is no consequences for sucking for 10 years. It’s a dream job!
    Dear Lord, help us!!

With the farcical 14 team playoff money grab, 3rd / 4th in the division and 8th - 10th in the American League is the new “2nd place”, and that’s where I expect the Sox to target until Jerry passes, beyond if there is similar ownership. I expect payroll to drop to $100M-$140M over the next two years.

To me it looks like they are trying to become Oakland light with all the anti fan policies (no stadium staffing, little to no season ticket perks, bad on field product) to angle for a new stadium or relocation. It’s not like Jerry hadn’t done this to the franchise and fans before. F him and his “meaningful games in September” bullshit.

Here's what I don't get. Sox have a big lead yet Grifol burns through three pitchers to finish the game only letting them go an inning each.

    What?

One of these stiffs couldn't go two innings, saving a guy? I mean they don't have a day off until May 15.

    Makes no sense.

They were scheduled to throw today, Lambert last pitched 3 days ago and Middleton 4. Hopefully Colome built some confidence today with his scoreless inning.

Was sleeping during the game, glad they won and nearly everyone padded their stats.

Hopefully we see Colas back soon, if he’s regained a better approach in Charlotte. Really could use an OF glove and decent bat in RF, keep Sheets at DH or 1B if he can handle it until everyone returns (as if that’s ever going to happen).

    Current Roster (OPS through today)

    Catchers (3): Grandal (.798); Perez (1 AB); Zavala (.531).

    DH (1): Sheets (.709).

    Infield (5): Alberto (.903); Anderson (.654); Andrus (.547); Sosa (.377); Vaughn (.766).

    Outfield (4): Benintendi (.648); Hamilton (2 ABs); Haseley (1.029); Robert (.825).

    Future Moves (4)

    • Moncada (.859) up for Perez.
    • Burger (.924) up for Sosa.
    • Colas (.541) up for Haseley.
    • Eloy (.743) up for Sheets.

Well, except for years the Royals win the pennant (2014) and World Series (2015).

  15. Thread Prompted by @Chimpton quoted post,

It's the field here, unless you are talking football. There are load management legitimate reasons why only 3 of the 4 would start if you are trying to rotate (though DH would be the best to rotate if the roster wasn't so defensively limited). However, the vast majority of games the four haven't appeared has been due to one or more IL stints. Tim Anderson played the least number of games in two of the three completed seasons, Yoan Moncada has played the most games in two of the three seasons.
