  1. Step aside Ted Ginn, Andrew Vaughn does everythin'!
  2. ESPN is pathetic. Listening to Len and DJ, much better (a pitch ahead of the picture). James Fegan on "That stick."
  3. Billy Hamilton winning over Cubs fans, engaging in Papers Scissors Rock from the dugout. Not sure how he can wear a sweatshirt in this heat.
  4. Thanks. One of the subtweets said Durk sang it. John Vincent sang it, he does it regularly there, Wayne Messimer does it occasionally at this point. https://www.soill.org/blog/team/john-vincent/
  5. Looked up Wayne Messimer's schedule, but he's not there today. Per Cubs twitter, I believe Lil' Durk.
  6. ANDREW VAUGHN!!!! 5-0!!!!!
  7. Glad to see players, especially young players, are being more accepted, and good coaching practices and training are incorporated / brought in to youth leagues, perhaps kicking and screaming. I’ve witnessed poor behavior by an opposing travel team coach (from Oklahoma) in one of my nephew’s hockey teams this May. He was ejected and banned for the next game. Brought the worst out in his players as well, they had to cancel the game due to fights and choppy play (middle school age). Needs to get here ASAP. Glad to see the board condemning the Vizquel behavior, come a long way just to get to this point in society.
  8. They have six OFers at this point (since they don’t play Lamb in the infield after 3 attempts this season). It’s not about fretting about an individual game. Leury started three OF games this month, Sheets once. Leury was needed to play near everyday when Madrigal was out, and before when 3-4 OFers were out. Made complete sense. He is valuable for the ability to do that WHEN he is needed. Had no issue with Leury at SS today before Tony switched back, or resting Cesar or Yoan. That’s what he’s there or should be there for. Just don’t need to continue to sit young outfielders when your roster is now one away from fully healthy, and continue to start Leury in the OF on a regular or even semi regular basis. When Robert returns, and they likely send down Sheets (or release Lamb), he should never start in the OF beyond future additional injuries. He should back up 2B, SS and 3B, or be a late defensive replacement (infield or outfield) LF - Eloy / Andrew CF - Luis / Adam RF - Adam / Brian / Andrew / Lamb or Sheets
  9. Andrew is not Cuban, can never be Cuban. Jose, Luis and Eloy are great Cubans. ?
  10. I thought they managed Kopech’s innings fine, and coming back slow after the injury also made sense. The Sox acquired Kimbrel, now have four other reliable back end relievers (Liam, Kimbrel, Bummer, Crochet). I was hoping they acquired Kimbrel in part to allow Kopech to stretch out for 2-3 inning appearances, or perhaps a few tandem starts with Rodon and Cease, for this season (multi inning appearances, also help the rotation) and build a higher innings base for the proposed transition next season. Kopech has been very effective with his longer appearances (ten 2-5 inning appearances this year, 0-1 ERs allowed in all ten), and it could play a difference in a playoff game. They still used two very high first round draft picks (2018 (Madrigal + they lost Heuer) and 2020 (Crochet) ) for two set up relievers, and they’re still tying up Kopech as well.
  11. “The fans” aren’t penciling in Leury 90 times and counting. He is best used as a infield reserve or late inning defensive replacement at this point. The team is carrying six other players who have played OF this season. Leury continues to start regularly in the OF. He can’t hit righties, he can’t hit lefties. He has no platoon advantage. It is fucking absurd.
  12. Thanks. Thoughts and prayers. Perhaps we will see this lineup: SS T. Anderson 2B C. Hernandez 1B J. Abreu LF E. Jimenez CF B. Goodwin RF J. Lamb C S. Zavala P D. Cease 3B L. Garcia
  13. The problem is the manager who plays his utility player every single day because he is a switch hitter, regardless of the fact he sucks at hitting (.388 OPS last 7 days, .483 last 28 days).
  14. Eloy thankfully survived the twelve innings he played in left field. I would support Tony if he rested him today, or removed him early like he did Friday. There are bigger fish to fry than the Chicago Cubs. Perhaps Sheets or Lamb gets a start in RF as well, though sadly that would likely come at the expense of Andrew, who has been on fire. Hopefully Engel will play in CF to lock down the defense. My preferred lineup, can see Tony messing with up to 3 of these choices. SS TA; 2B CH; 1B JA; 3B YM; CF AE; RF BG; LF AV; C SZ; SP DC
  15. This would add 20 pages to a game thread if called against the Sox. This wasn't even one of the worst ones on the Umpire Scorecard.
  16. I'll open a sports book account this week if one offer odds on Eloy falling into and or getting lost inside the Field of Dreams cornfield.
  17. So glad another piece of shit wasn’t voted into the HOF. Hopefully this is the full extent off what he did to this batboy or others. He already had a publicly known history of domestic violence toward his wife.
  18. It should be zero. LF: Vaughn and Eloy CF: Robert and Engel RF: Engel and Goodwin 5th man reserves: Lamb and/or Hamilton These are all better options than Leury, once Robert returns.
  19. The good news, a double. The bad news, continued everyday Leury.
  20. The true test is whether he can physically catch for 9 innings. Would expect him to catch 2-3 days a week to start, which is just a game less than he pre-injury workload, and perhaps DH or play 1B as well, to see how he holds up before taking on a 4-5 game a week catching workload.
  21. I wouldn't be so sure on the final statement. He left for a radio job now, but didn't say he wanted to move and remain on radio broadcasts the rest of his life. Steve Stone also took a radio job with the Sox to transition into TV. The Sox have a better handle on the timeline for Steve (retire) and Jason (leave for something else).
  22. Both Len and Steve are baseball announcers. Benneti more suited toward basketball, boxing, MMA. Baseball is too slow for his style and taste. Just hope he stays so us radio listeners get him for 120 or so games a year. Len and DJ are great. Is Len at the park, or still out of the Jerry Springer studios in NBC tower?
  23. Hahn keeps saying Kopech is a starter next year. He’ll need to start in June or July, it’s unrealistic to ramp up from 65 innings (44 now) to 150 + next year, which means at least a month or two off. It’s why I liked his usage better before his IL stint (2 + innings prior, now just an inning). Would have been on pace for 90-100 even with the month off. Now he’ll hit 65-75. They already burnt their 2018 (4) and 2020 (11) high first round picks on one inning guys (Crochet and then Madrigal (+ Heuer) turned into Kimbrel) instead of signing FAs or getting lower cost arms.
