  1. Mendick getting hurt has hurt the Sox more than we thought. We got an overdose of Leury, Big Energy, now Andrus. TA injury compounded the problem.
  2. At least Romy has gotten a couple of balls into the air deep. Still warning track power.
  3. There is no outfield defense for homers. If we would have been hitting more homers, we take all these nice outfielders out of the equation. But with our ground ball offense and warning track power we put opponents outfielders in play.
  4. The sad part was that it was a 0-2 pitch to a rookie batting below the Mendoza line. With no one on base. Hendriks had 4 chances to strike him out and threw him a hittable cookie strike. Bury a slider in the dirt or blow him out with heat just out of the zone. I don’t know who called for the breaking pitch but it was a bad blunder. Hendriks does not hang fastballs, but does hang curves and sliders.
  5. Opponents outfield defense have been killing us all season, while our own outfield defense has not put the hurt on anyone.
  6. That is why is hard for the Sox-to come back in games like tonight. Earl Weaver would not have been happy with this team.
  7. One common denominator in Chicago pro sports lately has been bad GM/FO, starting with Bears drafting Trubitsky, Bowman bad trades with Hawks and firing coach Q, and Hahn bad trades and inaction to begin with.
  8. And in the third best homer friendly park in MLB. It is been Ground ball City team. Hard to hit homers with ground balls.
  9. And the Blackhawks looking terrible for this season trading our three best young players including De Brincat.
  10. A sudden rain storm dumping 6 inches and flooding the field. Not going to happen though.
  11. Presume you are including TLR as part of this team.
  12. Swung at ball four over his head. We could have brought Abreu up with the bases load. No guarantee but there was always the chance for a grand slam to get us back in the game. Same mistakes being repeated, double play balls, not taking a walk/ swinging at everything/not working the counts….I think we underestimate crappy teams like KC and DB and get ambushed.
  13. They will just leave Cueto in there to take one for the team.
  14. Netflix is my savior.
  15. One of the worst lineups of the year. Injuries have hurt but still Engel gets rewarded with a start. Actions have no consequences with TLR. No Sheets our hottest hitter even against lefties,
  16. Wishful thinking. We are already down 6-0. That Engel/ Hendriks screw ups last night will be hard to forget. So close and yet so far.
  17. We are the dumbest team in the league. Lacking baseball IQ. Who is calling the pitches for Hendriks?
  18. On an 0-2 count to a rookie hitting .130. A high off speed pitch is probably only pitch he could hit. Dumb pitch selection when you can throw a 100 mph fast ball or a slider in the dirt.
  19. Same old story tonight, can not pile runs. 3 errors and 3double plays in a one run game is tough.
  20. The count is not 1-2.
  21. Not a good idea on an 0-2 count. If you are going to throw off speed pitch bury it in the dirt with no men on base or blow him away with a fast ball just off the plate. Four chances to strike him out. Engel error cost us this game. Earlier Abreu error cost us at least a run and we hit into three double plays that also cost us at least one run. Same old same old. This team is no t in sync. Needs to be shaken up.
  22. Too impatient. Swinging at every ball out o f the zone with bases loaded, like yesterday swinging at a ball over his head on a 3-2 count with bases loaded. If he walks we had a good chance of winning. He needs to be told to work the count and look for a pitch to hit in the zone.
  23. Two comments: 1. The DP was even better with the very fast Mateo running. 2. Sheets has been hitting over. 500 in his last few games. I believe if TLR pinch hits for Harrison with Sheets yesterday with 2 RISP we win that game. We have no margin for error, and we need to use our best resources in order to win. TLR does not worry enough on the game at hand. I like to keep Sheets in the lineup hitting 5 th until he cools down, he is our hottest hitter. I like the infield tonight. Keep Big Energy grabbing some bench. He has sucked lately.
  24. Sheets is doing well. He is hitting over .500in the last 7 days. He is also a lefty that can hit homers. I think he is here to stay.
