Acuna and Romo back to back is brutal. This game should have been over with a Sox win. If it wasn’t for Venable falling in love with the bunt with guys that cannot bunt. Carrasco was throwing junk and we give an out away. Venable showing shades of Grifol. Braden bailed out Venable. Somebody needs to tell Venable to put the bunt sign away in a locker.

Let’s have co MVPs. If both these guys keep pitching this way, the Sox will be favorites to win the Central. IMO.

Was Rikuu the best PH option? He can’t bunt and he is a ground ball hitter. A bunt would have been better from someone else more skilled at that. Venable has been Grifol like lately. IMO

Neither is our catching. Throwing a ball in the dirt with Quero catching, and a man on third, is almost always a sure run.

Romo, Quero, Acuna, Nishida are worse hitters than Benny.

I opine that the Sox are a good team, not a mediocre team. Will be contending in the Central the whole season. Our weakest link now are the catchers. Hopefully we will get Teele back, sooner rather than later. IMO.

Venable did not have a good game with the bunt with 2 strikes, and this lack of aggressiveness not sending Antonacci to steal. It was likely that the Twins would not have even attempted a throw to second, afraid that Acuna would score from third. I would award Venable the Pedro Grifol Memorial Award tonight.

Sox have a better team today than the Cubs , particularly pitching and offense. Cubs have a better defense, but the Sox has good core of young, hungrier, skilled players, while the Cubs have a bunch of highly payed older players underperforming. IMO.

Also who called for a splitter on an 0-2 count when the batter could not catch up to the fastball twice? Quero, the pitcher or the bench? Don’t trust QUERO judgement. He is a terrible catcher. He is leading MLB in losing ABS CHALLENGES as well.

The big issue was Teel getting hurt at the WBC playing for ITALY! In hindsight, he should have been told not to do it.
