I was about to crown Hoyer as the winner of the deadline if he got Bart.
Ok yeah Bart. The Cubs would have the middle of the field locked up in the future with Bart, Madrigal, Hoerner and the Crow kid.

I wanna see what the Cubs got back.
Were the Giants the team shopping Joey Bart?

Sad to see Madrigal go; excited about Kimbrel's impact on this bullpen and the post-season. World Series or bust!
Burger better get his 2B glove readyI have mixed feelings. I like to see the aggression. And the system can overcome the loss. Im not that sure about getting full value for Madrigal, and we can’t beat the Dodgers now anyway.

No chance. I'm down on Yoan as much as anyone right now, but he is a natural at third, and was....shaky at best, at second.
Things change, that was a snapshot. He can get better. Nothing says he can’t. He now hits like a second baseman anyway. Burger, Moncada, TA and Abreu is a slugging infield to rival any. The e lineup is what needs more juice. This is an easy way to do it.

Now its widenopen for a Moncada position switch next year. It has to happen

We already lost our Covid thread due to politics…in the middle of an interminable worldwide pandemic, lol. Why not every other game thread?
I see a warning “sticky” coming from mods. TLR debates have spilled over into 75% of game threads as it is.
I feel that. At the same time, vaccination is a baseball topic as well. In all sports now.

Ya hate to waste these innings from Lopez 😤

I didn’t quite realize his leadoff man ability. That’s good, because there needs to be an option to Anderson, who can do an unconventional job, but again its nice to have that option. Especially as a switch hitter. The Sox are a team in need of one true leadoff man. But they are somewhat hard to find.

Apparently Tepera is very anti-vax, from what I've heard from Cubs fans. So I guess vaccination records aren't that important to the Sox.
Good grief. If he sucks fans should pelt him with hypodermic needles. But seriously, the Sox have a good vibe in the dugout. Hate to think he’s that dick that the team is gonna have to deal with. Eh…out in the bullpen.

Hernandez should be the happiest guy in the world. Very few places are a bigger dump than Chicago but Cleveland does qualify.
Chicago is fine. The block you live on otoh…..

Long term big picture - I don't see a position for Burger to play at on this club. And trust me I'm a big fan. But we have a 3rd baseman. We have Plenty of dh/corner outfielders. He's definitely a trade chip.
I don’t mind that tbh. The point is to get real value for a very good prospect. He was seriously undervalued around here this week. If they somehow turned him into some team’s top 10 outfielder, I won’t be mad.

No need to troll. No one said rental.
Firstly, this board was enmasse ready to trade him for a rental. If that mentality has changed, then good to be with y’all finally. The namecalling, whatever man. Enjoy what Hahn as done for us not overpaying like everyone wanted him to.

This. He is a piece you can afford to move who also could get you a return, plus give a team looking at 2022 an instant starter.
Ill trade him for another good prospect. Or a younger major leaguer with upside. Has to be real talent. Burger is for real as an above average mlb 3rd baseman. They dont grow on trees

If Burger goes out, it will be for someone with at least another year of control, if not more.
No Burger

Good deal, get another one and the bullpen will look a lot better.
If Lopey is for real out of the bullpen, they fortified as well as can be expected unless they backed up the truck for Kimbrel.

Bailey Horn? Any scoop on him other than a southpaw?
He was one of those draft guys they had to pick as a cheap signing after they took Kelly iirc?

Kinda liked Horn. Good arm. But good deal.

Gotta love the little internet GMs. Gold Glove 2B with 18 HRs is the equivalent to Wal-Mart.
The Sox essentially got the equivalent to Escobar for an extra year instead of Escobar for a couple months. For less than what most people were willing to give up for Escobar

Always the bridesmaid never the bride. That’s how this team operates, doesn’t surprise me.
This team operates by bringing studs into the minors and promoting from within. which is the exact opposite of most White Sox years of my life. And look, we are an elite American League team.

This is a solid move.
I better see some people on this board treat it like the next coming.
More than solid. Not that they need him going forward but with a team option, people here were willing to surrender our top prospects for Escobar rental etc. Pilkington is so reasonable under the circumstances it’s beautiful.

The Sox still would have a couple huge trade pieces next year to recoup. 2 elite closers is a lot of flexibility.
