But that is BS too. They have brought plenty in. Worrying you might disrupt chemistry so you don’t improve the team will blow up in your face.

It wasn’t his chief concern. His main concern was the  return on what you give up being worth the upside. And also, prioritized the reliever as the biggest need that HAD to be filled. I also would not downplay the chemistry concern. This team on paper could have lost a heck of a lot more without it. These guys like playing with each other. Heck some people worried about disrupting what Vaughn had going with Eloy. Its not like, something that should preclude improving. But you weigh it when you are asked to overpay for the possible improvement/short term benefits.

There are better options on the market than Garcia/Mendick that will not cost as much to acquire. The market prices are just high right now. They are 9 games up so no need to be desperate. Wait until the deadline.

Hahn could have beaten the Padres offer if he really wanted to. So we know the Sox are probably not desperate to do this.

There is no excuse not to get another 2B.

If the price is too high, it is understandable, and probably not the thing the team teally needs. Which is a guy to do what Lopez has been doing.

Yeah I mean I’m not saying I would send him out of town immediately if he returned something that improved the club. There is basically no way ReyLo can pitch well enough to avoid an offseason non-tender. But he was in fact looked decent in relief. Touched 98 last night.

It simply fits in with the character of this team, next man up. That’s another thing Ozzie said. Bringing in outsiders could disrupt the chemistry. Sure wouldn’t live to stand pat, but Ill understand.

ReyLo has looked kind of decent out of the pen, tbh.

Right? You don’t want to depend on it though. Ozzie was saying this morning his preference is to get the reliever and leave second base alone if the price is too high, because while the guys there aren’t that good, this team around them is good enough already. Gotta agree with the Oz.

    Which tells me two things.

#1 the team is using match ups to their advantage well with Sheets

#2, if he starts playing a lot more, expect a regression.

He might regress. But then again for a rookie it’s hard to groove into a comfortable head space when you are not playing your natural position on a regular basis. He’s still developing, so otoh he might hold his own if he had more consistency as far as natural positional usage. Vaughn is more talented, but he showed improvement as he settled in to left field and he knew he was playing left when he rolled out of bed every day. Now I wonder if he will keep that arc of improvement going if Eloy forces him to move around more. But that’s another story.

  7. Everything else has been mostly said about the power position characteristics.  I’ll only toss in that ideally you want a lefty at first base because the glove hand is in the hole to increase range. And you want a big target there. Gavin Sheets was almost created in a lab to play first base.

I called it. We're gonna see Eloy-Robert-Vaughn OF in the playoffs.

If I didn’t know any better, Id say Tony is doing this outfield on purpose to show everyone how bad it can get if we were to try it in meaningful games 😜

Tucupita is a top 10 guy. The rest is meh

A quick first impression of his description is that he is a bit like a Rodriguez level talent but more of a utility man. Then again I was barely familiar with Rodriguez other than a few brief google  searches recently

....and its crickets from front office.

I know I exaggerate but we have been thoroughly beat in Milwaukee but we have done nothing on trade market.

As a fan and on looker it seems we are waiting for Eloy, Yaz, and Luis to come back and call it a day.

    Its discouraging!

Takes 2 to trade. Discouraging but not necessarily Hahn’s fault. These teams are likely trying to bend us over.

Sox getting boatraced by Milwaukee. Oh well.

As far as the angst about the postseason. It's pretty obvious Sox will be a totally different team/lineup with Robert/Eloy. Team will pick up a reliever by the trade deadline (remember greg guarantees this!) and will probably lose either Burger or Madrigal or Vaughn in the process; my guess unfortunately it will be Vaughn). This team with the new reliever, Robert/Eloy just might reach the WS. It truly might. (Assuming the starting pitching stays pretty good to excellent). Comments?

I will take it right to the bank.

You can see the improvement happening with Vaughn on a nightly basis. At least that's been one silver lining in this series so far.

When Vaughn finally hits, and Kopech slides into the rotation, Sox fans get their wings. It truly represents moving the needle

So...with Cleveland probably losing tonight and falling to exactly .500, I was wondering when we last beat a team above .500 on the road.

Well, apparently it's been almost 3 months since that's happened. The last time it happened was against the Reds on May 4th. Even then, the Reds are a team barely above .500. So, the last time we actually beat a a good team on the road was against Boston on April 18th. This team has some serious issues to work out on the road.

In the mean time, we've gone 0-1 against Boston, 0-3 against the Yankees, 0-4 against the Astros, and now 0-2 against the Brewers. That's a 10 game losing streak to good teams on the road.

I guess we hope lineup updates will fix us. To an extent. But will need to plug the bullpen leak. Well need both to feel good. Expecting a starting pitcher run like 2005 in the playoffs is unrealistic. The team is sort of still raw and unfinished? So I won’t be too disappointed if we get run in the ALCS.

I don't think Lopez has any value to rebuilding teams as an innings eater, and why would they want a lottery ticket 27 year old reliever? The ideal situation for Lopez might just be putting him in the Ruiz role to see if anything clicks for him as a full-time reliever.

    Pretty much
