  1. Are Kennedy and Thomas actually buying into those conspiracy theories, or are they just spreading them because getting others to believe them is profitable?
  2. I think the point people are trying to make is that the fascists have set themselves aside by committing treason/sedition, which sets them apart from the acts of violence and terrorism that have been committed by other groups, and that in addition to dealing with the specific crimes committed Wednesday we need to deal with the larger issue that fascists thought it was OK to storm the Capitol in a way that no other group has dared even consider.
  3. If you want to feel less bad about the Bears, turn on NBC to see what's happening in Pittsburgh.
  4. Can Foles be cut? I don't know how contracts work and all that.
  5. A good QB still isn't winning anything with this roster, and acquiring a good QB limits improving other areas. I want to get the other pieces in place first before addressing QB.
  6. First of all, he doesn't cost picks to acquire and he won't cost a lot of money to sign. Secondly, if you're going to rebuild you're going to have a bad team for a couple years and his mobility and relatively low turnover rate is good to have on a rebuilding type team.
  7. As far as the punishment for the specific act, no, it doesn't matter why those people broke into the Capitol, but if we're going to deal with the cause and not just the action, then yes, it matters why it happened and that people of other types of extremist views didn't. Otherwise, we're just sitting around hoping it doesn't happen again.
  8. Is Trubisky the long term answer? Absolutely not, but this team is so poorly constructed that there is no way possible to both acquire a significantly better QB and surround him with enough talent to win over the next 2 years, so give Trubisky a 2 year deal and blow everything else up around him.
  9. You keep saying that, but you don't seem to have a problem with everything that led up to this point. These idiots who stormed the capitol and weren't smart enough to disguise their identities while posting their actions on social media didn't think up this grand plan. They were incited to do so, and there were serious flaws in the system that led to that point. The President egged them on, then prevented the military from stopping them, and he was still in power to do that because his entire party refused to do anything about him before that point. When he can call Ukraine, ask them to dig up dirt on his election opponent, and only one member of his party stood up to him during impeachment, the entire party bears some level of responsibility for everything he did after that.
  10. A couple things that we thought would never be an issue need to be fixed: 1) Congress needs direct control of something bigger/better than the Capitol Police so that the President doesn't control their ability to defend themselved. 2) The procedure by which a long congressman and Senator can object to the electoral from being counted and force a vote needs to go away. The courts are there to adjudicate disputes over election results. 3) We need fewer than 14 days between the electoral vote count and the beginning of the new term.
  11. If the few thousand people have the President running interference for them in terms of preventing the military or law enforcement from stopping it, it's 100% possible, as we just witnessed. It took the VP, quite possibly illegally, ordering the National Guard in, in order to stop it.
  12. If they killed more than half of the Senators, they could not have certified the Electoral vote, so Pelosi would have become President on the 20th, unless she was also dead and there wasn't a quorum of House members to elect a new speaker, in which case the Constitution doesn't say what happens, so yeah, that would have been just fine. I cant' tell if you're just obfuscating to avoid admitting the obvious or if you really don't get it.
  13. If we wait until something succeeds to judge how bad it is, then it's too late.
  14. What happened Wednesday wasn't just a violent mob--it was a violent mob attempting to subvert election results. Find another example of that and then come back.
  15. Tens of millions voted for Trump, but they're sheep. If the 2024 Republican nominee says that Trump was a piece of shit, the tens of millions will have signs saying that Trump was a piece of shit.
  16. There are so many unconfirmed people acting as Department heads right now I'm not sure anybody knows whether or not invoking Section 4 of the 25th Amendment would even be legal at this point.
  17. I think we're reached a point where Conservative has become a proxy for pro-Trump. There are plenty of conservatives who were never on board with Trump or got off pretty quickly, but they're now labeled as RINOs or moderates. John Kasich is pretty conservative and he never bought into Trump. Jeff Flake is pretty conservative. There are others, but Trump had such control of the party that they weren't able to keep or seek elected office. Those people will be back eventually.
  18. Never thought I'd see the day that it was more likely the Bears could win a playoff game 30-27 than 20-17, but here we are.
  19. Something I'm genuinely worried about--how much ability does Trump have to prevent the military, FBI, and other law enforcement from preventing widespread rioting on the 20th? Would it be wise to schedule Biden and Harris to get sworn in in different cities?
  20. If only there were other things going on in this country to distract us from the lack of baseball activity.
  21. Wow, so I didn't thing about this until just now, but after people stormed the Capitol in order to kill Mike Pence and the proceedings eventually resumed, one of the 100+ Republicans who kept fueling the fire by voting to reject the Pennsylvania electors was . . . GREG PENCE!
  22. The manufacturer and distributor for your golf shop likely have hundreds, if not thousands of retailers that they make money from by selling the product, so they don't need to put any more pressure on the golf shop owner then he's putting on himself. If you're selling Amway the first couple people up the chain don't have a lot of people making them money so they're putting more pressure on you to sell. That is what some might interpret as predatory. I don't think of it as predatory and don't think it should be outlawed, but it's most definitely different than standard retail.
  23. The public portion of the internet is that anybody can get their own domain name and use it however they want. Nobody has a right to use a domain name that someone else owns. Just because Facebook has a billion users and Soxtalk has a thousand (or whatever, I'm guessing) doesn't make them inherently different.
  24. Re: "All cops" Go back and read the quotes from the head of the Chicago FOP. Then think about how he has to get voted into that position by a majority of Chicago's cops. Then think about how the head of the Hammond FOP said something similar. Of course it isn't "all cops" but it's enough of them that they are ascending to leadership positions. As for the Capitol police, I'm sure some were more than happy to let the mob in, but I'm guessing that there are also plenty who knew that the Feds had refused to send backup and just let them in to save themselves, and I don't blame them.
