QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) The only logic I can see is that they are in a race is you need veteran presence. If they are in a race, they are resembling me in an REM dream where I try to run and can't ... where it's like I have dead weights in my pants and I can't run no matter how hard I try. Or they are in a race where they are Adam Dunn and the other runner is Usain Bolt.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) One thing is for certain. The Twins pitching staff is having a nice, relaxing flight to O'Hare later tonight. I think they just smile and nod at each other knowing what is comin' the next four days. Any chance of rain? -
Official greg don't jump off a ledge until Sunday thread

The Sox are afraid to act like they want to uh ... compete. They should have done it before the KC series and the restart of Comedy Central Division games, but the time to do it is now. Bring up Dayan for the Minnie series. But no ... that might show Minnie we think they are a threat and we respect them. What's wrong with showing you want to change things and actually compete. The lineup as it stands is putrid. Viciedo won't save it but it's time for a change. Whether people want to believe it or not, dropping 2 more to KC is really really bad. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) We've got exactly one guy in the minors that can upgrade the offense almost immediately. No sense in even talking about anybody else. I'm certain we have no legitimate trade assets, either. Damn shame Peavy is so combustible. I'd be all for dealing a guy like Floyd for some offense. KW should be doing all he can to trade Jackson and Floyd to get us some bats. And figure creative ways to dump Rios/Dunn. This Viciedo thing is all about saving pennies. When's he eligible to join the team and be under team control one more year? Is the date mercifully approaching??

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:55 PM) We've got to get some offense in here. Even the standard "wait until the weather" heats up rebuttal to our yearly slow starts offensively is not coming to fruition. Viciedo is a must. What's the 3B market like. I can't take Morel. I know he's a rookie. And I'd be a lot more patient with him if we had the payroll/expectation of the Pirates/Royals. But shockingly, this division can still be had. Send Morel back to the minors. Do we have a 2Bman in the minors who could replace Becks a couple weeks as well? He needs help. To not call up Viciedo for the Minnie series ... it's insane. We are just conceding games it seems til we finally can call him up. I'd have a lineup of DeAza (cf), Alexei (ss), Konerko (1b), Quentin (rf), Viciedo (DH), AJ/Castro ©, best minor leaguer we have (3b), best minor leaguer we have (2b) and Pierre (lf). Let Lilly play some; let Omar play some. Give Morel and Becks some time in AAA, two weeks or so then bring them back up if the minor leaguers are failing.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) might not be the worst but probably one of the least likeable QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) Congratulations White Sox, you broke greg's heart! 1.) If you like pop ups, you love this team. And strikeouts from power hitters not named Konerko. 2.) You are not ready to bury this lifeless crap team that can't even beat KC at home when the team knows it HAS to start beating Central Division teams? All because the division is so bad they are presumably still "in the race?"
-
Congratuations Chicago White Sox. You knew coming into this series you had to start beating Central Division teams ... better yet at home. You almost got swept by Kansas City. You were owned by 3 KC starting pitchers, all of whom suck. You were outplayed by a team that is AWFUL on the road. You were outplayed by a team that has been so bad the past month it is laughable, again at home. Congratulations boys. Nice series. Get ready to get your asses swept by Minnesota and maybe just maybe we'll see some firings and changes to staff and player personnel both.
-
Serious question ... after this series combined with our body of work this season and last how do you not fire Walker? How?
-
This is one of those games if you go to in person u leave just saying, "Why did we come to the park today? We could have hit the beach or the Museum of Science and Industry?"
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) Greg...chill I don't like Gordo's approach, his stance, the way he uses his hands. Just lost faith in him. 1-2-3 vs. Soria is a given here. He is good; we not so much.
-
Not calling up Viciedo is a fireable offense. Whoever is making that call should be fired today. I now officially expect nothing out of Beckham except good defense. He's another Morel to me. He's an average ballplayer, pretty blah really.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) No on both. KC still sucks even though they are beating us. I dunno. You would have Hosmer, Moustakas and Gordon and would be able to build your team from there without being saddled by the contracts of Dunn, Rios, et. all. And their middle relief is pretty damn good with a good to great closer. I think I'd take KC's with the ability to build from there.
-
Shoulda done that your last at bat, Brent. You actually got a hit against a good pitcher and failed miserably against a worse pitcher with bags juiced in the sixth.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) Beckham turned out to be a major bust. So Beckham is good field no hit. Not a good combination for a second basemen. Those guys can be found anywhere.
-
Here's a serious question. Would you take KC's lineup 1-9 over ours starting tomorrow? And take their relief corps over ours?
-
I wish the AS break started today. No need to play Minnie four straight starting tomorrow. Now if we'd call up Viciedo and DeAza and fire Walker all today, I'd be all for playing Minnie.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) Somebody explain to me the Brent Morel at bat when the bases were loaded? I was listening and and Farmer insinuated Morel swung at three straight balls instead of just taking the f***ing walk. Were those three pitches clearly out of the zone? Yes. Chen threw him two lob meatballs on 3-0 and 3-1. He took them when you could have hit either over the fence. Then on 3-2 he swung at 3 straight balls. Finally popping out weakly.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) Not even close. But he and CQ have cooled off considerably. CQ is 16 for his last 85 with ZERO home runs. Ramirez is sporting a sub-.600 OPS the last month. This wouldn't be as big a deal if we weren't featuring 5 of the worst players at their respective positions right now. The way CQ is going, I don't need to see him bat in the AS game. It's pretty funny really that one of our hitters (not named Paulie) made the AS game when our pitching has been the only reason we don't have the Royals' record. Royals have a chance to work on that record, though, with so many games left against us.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) You're comparing one of the best players in baseball at his position to one of the worst players in the entire Major Leagues? I just wish Lexi and Beckham would wake up. Maybe then we could win a series against Kansas City instead of almost getting swept at home.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Just tuning in. Another atrocity from the offense I see. In what alternate or parallel universe does an AL team sporting a payroll of nearly $130 million get shut down by Bruce Chen? The weird thing is so many people will be still, "it's early; we'll be fine; we still have a lot of games left against the central.'
-
So in retrospect we coulda been swept by KC at home. We lose 2 of 3. Minnie coming in with team hitting as badly as it has all season. No Viciedo. Morel batting second. Dunn batting third. Real smart. They should sell signs that say "Boo" so the team could make some money on booing.
-
Lexi and Beckham are supposed to be hot this time of year. They are not doin so well.
-
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) Viciedo probably not. Danks is likely to be Brian Anderson2 without all the crazy sex stories. LOL. Nice at bat Lexi. You think Anderson is still getting the women? Is he still in baseball even?

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) I plunked down 100 bucks for this crap!!! I want a refund!! QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) And the guys that don't think home run....can't ever walk or even hit a double these days. You can count Lillibridge as a charter member of the "homer happy" club, too. Vizquel...well, he hasn't changed in 20+ years. 1.) Good thing you are not at the Cell. You'd spend a lot more than $100. 2.) I'm totally convinced Lilly tries to hit a home run every time at bat. It's crazy.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) Can't make changes, as that would take the players out of their comfort zone and make people thing they're in panic mode. I would be all for firing Oz, KW and Walker after this game. I guess the fairer thing would be to wait for the AS break if as expected we lose 3 or 4 vs. Minnie at home. To not fire them then would be sad.
