  1. Gordon and Butler both feast on Sale fastballs. Anybody worried about Sale's stuff?
  2. Sale's body is the total opposite of Jenks. Bobby big; Sale not an ounce of fat on him. Pencil thin.
  3. Lots of lefties in our bullpen. Sale eighth; Thornton ninth.
  4. to you computer wizards, how do i make this my background on my Mac OSX? thanx.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) What would be wrong with a split in KC? Nothing. Come home 3-2, and have a 6-4 or 7-3 home stand. That would be great. I'm ready to take 'em one at a time this year rather than think what we have to do in a certain series. The past season and a half have driven me batty trying to figure out what we need to do in this series and this roadtrip, etc. One at a time, baby.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) I abhor off-days. I didn't mean to be an offday asshole. I was just wondering aloud about the fact a skinny big leaguer, just a few days after the conclusion of spring training can look awful on the first attempt at the simple act of bunting, then bunts into a triple play. Huge mojo killer. We lead 1-0 and can have second and third and one out. Arguably a killer in trying to sweep the Tribe. I get the reasoning, just am ready to sign a petition to deliver to Jerry that say no more bunting until big leaguers actually can pass a bunting test. Lexi obviously can't bunt except to drag bunt for a hit like somebody said. Peace.
  7. I immediately thought of what the game thread would look like. I normally back Ozzie, but at some point you just have to stop trusting these big leaguers to put down a bunt. I mean unless that was just one bad at bat ... my god his bunting form was embarrassing. Stop.The.Bunt (not that it's not called for). s*** it would have been nice to have men on second and third with one out and a one run lead. Not bases empty after a triple f***ing play.
  8. Was at a restaurant today and saw Lexi bunt into a triple play. You know, I have backed Oz on the bunt before, but I now am against it in almost any situation for one simple reason that we all know: Baseball players f***ing cannot bunt. I don't know whose fault this is, but my god, bunting into a f***ing triple play? Just a few days after the close of spring training? I like the bunt (in theory) but since f***ing high paid big leaguers cannot bunt I am now in the camp of those of you who f***ing hate the bunt. And yes my anger is to Lexi more than Ozzie. His sacrifice bunting form today was ludicrous, firing the bat out there. I was a s***ty baseball player but I could deaden the bat and f***ing bunt like most of you also probably could, albeit the pitcher wasn't throwing 95. Ugh, frustration, forgive me for my frustration but I'm just hacked off.
  9. Opening Day win is Opening Day win. I'll take it. But to have a 14-0 lead turn into a 15-10 final? My god. I'm in chicago this week and from talking to people, I think Oz is at the stage his team has to produce big time first half of the year or he's gone. I still love him regardless, but I'm sensing many think he is a problem. Ohman? Who decided to sign that guy? Wow.
  10. Just think if Quentin emerged as a stud this year. Man, that would bolster our chances significantly. We need that bat.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 12:15 AM) He's pretty much the homeless guy on the corner who screams at cars about the end of the world... No one really takes him seriously. Whom are we talkin bout?
  12. Yu know what, that's true. We have great memories from even the s***tiest of seasons. But guess what? Tickets were DIRT CHEAP back then.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) What is the attraction of rebuilding for people? This isn't fantasy baseball where you can play 20 years of baseball in a week. The last thing I want to see is 3-5 years of minor league baseball, with no guarentee that we can catch lightning in a bottle. Give me competing for a division title any year, even if it is with a flawed team. I've been through rebuilding multiple times. Rebuilding sucks. That's the post of the year. Rebuilding is dumb. We don't have to rebuild. Do it like the Yankes, Bosox, etc. Reload. We got Dunn. We got the pitching horses. They just have to do the job. I mean we got Danks, Floyd, Mark, Jackson. f***. That's good enough. With decent bullpen on paper. If the guys underachieve, fine. Oz will be the fall guy this year for sure. Oz will be gone if we are not in first or close to it by the break. GO SOX.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) Well, last year Bobby Jenks pitched in 24 games where the game was within 1 run or tied, another 10 where the game was within 2 runs. So, only 34 actual "Close games". ANd of course, a handful of those games were close because Jenks came in with bigger leads than that and gave up several runs. I don't think I'll bag on Dunn this year no matter what. I know what we got in him and it's worth the strikeouts. He is what he is (cliche). He's all or nothing and we need that big bat. So I hope for the best. He definitely gives us a presence when we play those s*** heads from Minnesota and the other teams in our division that we can't seem to beat on a consistent basis.
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) I don't care how much of a competitor Peavy is, or how hard he's trying to come back to be of value to this team. He's nothing but a drain on this team. Go f*** yourself, you glass piece of s***. That's pretty radical, but I would be stunned if he ever pitches a full season. He's too injury prone at this point.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) Peavy will be limited to 60 pitches going into May. Might as well write him off until at least June. I hope they go even slower with him. If he isn't back until July, but then can stay in the rotation, that's fine with me. Wow this certainly changes my expectations of the team. Edwin Jackson, come on down. You must be dominant. Mark Buehrle, you got to be ultra consistent every night or 8 out of 9 for 7 innings. Danks/Floyd, you 2 must take the next step and be very very good. No. 5 starter: Call me crazy; I prefer it be Pena.
  17. Like somebody said, we need Freddy about now. Sucks that he's gone. I wonder if we could make some minor deal with somebody to get a Bruce Chen type guy (not Chen, but somebody like him). Any guys out there still unsigned?
  18. Been busy, just caught this thread now. I feel for Jake. Seems like he's a gamer, he's just really behind the 8 ball with injuries. No reason to overreac, but this obviously is s***ty news.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 09:17 AM) Two spots are open. I will invite the first two people who asked. Greg, I will include you in the next league that we have. thanks lemme know if there's another league cause I'm getting ready to join 3 yahoo leagues total. four is too many.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 01:10 AM) Dave Bush nailed him in the hand w/ a fastball. Thanks for the info. That truly sucks.
  21. Sox fans are smart. They know Teahen is a utlility guy at best. If he starts and boots a grounder Opening Day the fans will let him have it. He'll be this year's Kotsay.
  22. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 06:15 AM) You say that like he's going to some D2 program. He's only going to the best conference in college basketball. All I meant by that is location. Why would he want to go all the way to UConn? That's a long way away and Calhoun is not exactly Mr. Personality. Big miss by Illinois, some other Big 10 schools, Kansas. This guy can score and everybody needs a scorer.
  23. How did he fracture his thumb? Did he foul a pitch off it? I'm surprised more guys don't do that. This really sucks. Anyway you slice it, he doesn't figure to be a factor til after the AS break.
