2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Was at a restaurant today and saw Lexi bunt into a triple play. You know, I have backed Oz on the bunt before, but I now am against it in almost any situation for one simple reason that we all know: Baseball players f***ing cannot bunt. I don't know whose fault this is, but my god, bunting into a f***ing triple play? Just a few days after the close of spring training? I like the bunt (in theory) but since f***ing high paid big leaguers cannot bunt I am now in the camp of those of you who f***ing hate the bunt. And yes my anger is to Lexi more than Ozzie. His sacrifice bunting form today was ludicrous, firing the bat out there. I was a s***ty baseball player but I could deaden the bat and f***ing bunt like most of you also probably could, albeit the pitcher wasn't throwing 95. Ugh, frustration, forgive me for my frustration but I'm just hacked off.

White Sox winner!
Opening Day win is Opening Day win. I'll take it. But to have a 14-0 lead turn into a 15-10 final? My god. I'm in chicago this week and from talking to people, I think Oz is at the stage his team has to produce big time first half of the year or he's gone. I still love him regardless, but I'm sensing many think he is a problem. Ohman? Who decided to sign that guy? Wow.

The Possibility of a corner OF platoon
Just think if Quentin emerged as a stud this year. Man, that would bolster our chances significantly. We need that bat.

Mark Buehrle
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 12:15 AM) He's pretty much the homeless guy on the corner who screams at cars about the end of the world... No one really takes him seriously. Whom are we talkin bout?

From the old guys . . .
Yu know what, that's true. We have great memories from even the s***tiest of seasons. But guess what? Tickets were DIRT CHEAP back then.

Payroll Too Big
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) What is the attraction of rebuilding for people? This isn't fantasy baseball where you can play 20 years of baseball in a week. The last thing I want to see is 3-5 years of minor league baseball, with no guarentee that we can catch lightning in a bottle. Give me competing for a division title any year, even if it is with a flawed team. I've been through rebuilding multiple times. Rebuilding sucks. That's the post of the year. Rebuilding is dumb. We don't have to rebuild. Do it like the Yankes, Bosox, etc. Reload. We got Dunn. We got the pitching horses. They just have to do the job. I mean we got Danks, Floyd, Mark, Jackson. f***. That's good enough. With decent bullpen on paper. If the guys underachieve, fine. Oz will be the fall guy this year for sure. Oz will be gone if we are not in first or close to it by the break. GO SOX.

Adam Dunn
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) Well, last year Bobby Jenks pitched in 24 games where the game was within 1 run or tied, another 10 where the game was within 2 runs. So, only 34 actual "Close games". ANd of course, a handful of those games were close because Jenks came in with bigger leads than that and gave up several runs. I don't think I'll bag on Dunn this year no matter what. I know what we got in him and it's worth the strikeouts. He is what he is (cliche). He's all or nothing and we need that big bat. So I hope for the best. He definitely gives us a presence when we play those s*** heads from Minnesota and the other teams in our division that we can't seem to beat on a consistent basis.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) I don't care how much of a competitor Peavy is, or how hard he's trying to come back to be of value to this team. He's nothing but a drain on this team. Go f*** yourself, you glass piece of s***. That's pretty radical, but I would be stunned if he ever pitches a full season. He's too injury prone at this point.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) Peavy will be limited to 60 pitches going into May. Might as well write him off until at least June. I hope they go even slower with him. If he isn't back until July, but then can stay in the rotation, that's fine with me. Wow this certainly changes my expectations of the team. Edwin Jackson, come on down. You must be dominant. Mark Buehrle, you got to be ultra consistent every night or 8 out of 9 for 7 innings. Danks/Floyd, you 2 must take the next step and be very very good. No. 5 starter: Call me crazy; I prefer it be Pena.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
Like somebody said, we need Freddy about now. Sucks that he's gone. I wonder if we could make some minor deal with somebody to get a Bruce Chen type guy (not Chen, but somebody like him). Any guys out there still unsigned?

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
Been busy, just caught this thread now. I feel for Jake. Seems like he's a gamer, he's just really behind the 8 ball with injuries. No reason to overreac, but this obviously is s***ty news.

Viciedo fractures thumb during ST game on HBP
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 01:10 AM) Dave Bush nailed him in the hand w/ a fastball. Thanks for the info. That truly sucks.

3rd Base....NO....not Teahen!
Sox fans are smart. They know Teahen is a utlility guy at best. If he starts and boots a grounder Opening Day the fans will let him have it. He'll be this year's Kotsay.

IHSA playoff thread hoops
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 06:15 AM) You say that like he's going to some D2 program. He's only going to the best conference in college basketball. All I meant by that is location. Why would he want to go all the way to UConn? That's a long way away and Calhoun is not exactly Mr. Personality. Big miss by Illinois, some other Big 10 schools, Kansas. This guy can score and everybody needs a scorer.

Viciedo fractures thumb during ST game on HBP
How did he fracture his thumb? Did he foul a pitch off it? I'm surprised more guys don't do that. This really sucks. Anyway you slice it, he doesn't figure to be a factor til after the AS break.

Make it Milledge
Wow, Dick Allen. You usually aren't this vicious. You must really dislike Lilly the ballplayer. I remember last year he was pretty darn good at the plate. I have a sneaky feeling both may make the team. Is that possible. If it's one or the other I think Lilly makes it. Don't Oz and Kenny both kind of have a hard on for Lillibridge?

IHSA playoff thread hoops
QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) How is beating Simeon bad? Sobolewski good, Kaminsky overrated. My Warren Blue Devils should make it to state barring a choke. Well my theory (which could be off base) is that Benet was so looking forward to that rematch against Simeon that, upon winning, the team lost some of its edge. Benet avenged that loss and didn't really play well again. Naperville North lost to Benet 42-40 in double overtime in the game before the E. Aurora game. 40 points? Boatright kicked some major ass. Why in the world is he going to UConn???

ST: 3/9-- Sox vs Giants
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) I think he went after Greinke there because ZG's injury did not happen while playing baseball. Dat is correct. It was a basketball injury. Also I don't like Greinke's attitude compared to Jake's. Greinke admitted he went thru the motions last year despite making a lot of money.

Jay Mariotti Speaks
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) I say he gets the same respect he gave anyone else who had problems. None. f*** him. Amen, brother.

IHSA playoff thread hoops
My Benet Redwings lose to East Aurora to halt an undefeated season way too early! My theory is Benet should never have agreed to play Simeon in the regular season. Benet was not the same team after that game. From afar, my feeling is that game was Benet's state title game. And in reality it didn't mean squat.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
I follow the team religiously during the season, just am too busy or something to ever follow the squad much in ST. So can you help me out? How has our defense been? Specifically how is CQ doing in RF and Gordon at 2B? I did read Teahen has been sucking at third.

Viciedo to the OF
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) For my two cents, it all depends on what we could get for him, and how this team starts off. If it is a final piece of the puzzle, or replacing an injury, that is one thing. If this team starts slowly and falls out of competition, there is no reason at all to trade him. With the free agents we have coming up, I am all about winning this year. Trade Quentin. Keep Dayan.

ST: 3/9-- Sox vs Giants
I didn't realize Peavy was ready to pitch in real games. My gosh, he's definitely one of the great competitors. If he's pitching today, obviously he's ready to go by Opening Day as well? No matter how he does on the mound, he is trying to earn that money, unlike Greinke.

ST: 3/5 Sox-Indians
Try as I might, I can't flame Teahen or anybody for spring training games. They don't matter. I think most are in agreement Teahen should play Lillibridge type innings and be paid about 2.5 mill less.
