  1. Royals look like they came to play again. We shall see.
  2. Sit your ass down mutha. Strike three. Now the umps should hold a grudge vs. the twins since he b****ed.
  3. Nice bender by Meche. That would be so cool if he shut down da Twins and won again. I wonder if the Twins fans hate sitting indoors on a nice fall day. I would.
  4. He kind of settled down after Aviles in pitch count tho. Wish Avilas woulda drawn the walk. They didn't mention that one pitch was ball four and he swung.
  5. Avilas swing at ball four. Bummer. First two batters pop it up. Yikes great play at third base. Twins bringing their A game. Like you said, no more messin around. We got to win tonight and Sunday.
  6. Good comparison. I don't know why the Sox fade got to me. As happy as I was when we swept Detroit, the fact we lost 3 of 4 to NY and the sweep by the Twins really got to me for some reason. I don't know why I feel so unconfident in the Sox's chances. I do want us in the playoffs. Your post is helping me snap out of this depression. We only gotta win two games to get to Monday!
  7. That was good stuff at the end of Cowley's column. Who is the hell would offer anything for Mike MacDougal? I certainly hope Griffey isn't in the plans. He's got to go as well. How long can AJP stay healthy? It'd be nice to have an actual alternative to share some catching duties instead of our current backup who hasn't done squat. It's sad to be discussing next year when the playoffs were so attainable.
  8. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, OC. Our organization is better than you. Bye bye.
  9. It's always better to make the playoffs. It's what they play for (aside from zillions of dollars that arguably have changed big leaguers' attitudes for the worse) and why we cheer as fans. We aren't going to make the playoffs, trust me, but it is way better to make the playoffs. Why else be fans or players?
  10. Dotel may be the most overpaid player in baseball history.
  11. I can buy that. What a terrible week. And now Bro Rice is clobbered by Mount Carmel. Sucko.
  12. Tony I like your takes and posts but I can't understand why you are so positive lately. Haven't these games waxed your energy and made you pissed as hell at these guys? Read the quotes lately including the story I just posted in some thread. These guys are a total mess on the field and in the head.
  13. His statement was a bit harsh but you can't be happy with what's going on are you Dick?
  14. Look at the AP story: You think I've been bleak in my comments, check out these: By RICK GANO AP Sports Writer CHICAGO (AP) — A missed opportunity and a sloppy performance left the White Sox in second place and had manager Ozzie Guillen as frustrated as he’s been all season. “That’s the only thing I hear, ’We have a chance.’ We don’t have a chance if we continue to play that way,” Guillen said after Friday night’s 11-8 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Ryan Garko drove in five runs with a grand slam and a solo homer for the Indians, but Chicago’s pitching was also a major contributor to the White Sox’s fourth straight loss. And it came on a night when the first-place Twins lost at home to Kansas City 8-1 — on the heels of their three-game sweep of Chicago that knocked the White Sox into second place. Trying to regroup Friday, the White Sox faltered again. Chicago hurlers gave up 10 hits, issued six walks, including one with the bases loaded, threw two wild pitches — one scoring a run — hit two batters and committed a balk. “I already got mad. I broke up stuff in the clubhouse. I get to the point I just wanted to start laughing,” Guillen said. “I don’t have any choice, just because it’s something you can’t even try to do what we did today. I think that’s the worst five or six innings I ever remember we went through in a long time. ... I think those guys out there should be a little embarrassed.” The White Sox, still a half-game behind the Twins, have two games left against the Indians and possibly a makeup game Monday against Detroit, if needed. “It is frustrating to look up there and see the team in front of you getting beat and losing and you can’t do anything with it,” Chicago’s Paul Konerko said. “I know it’s tough to stay positive when you look bad and it’s sloppy. But we’re still right there and crazy things have happened in this game.” Cleveland lefty Scott Lewis (4-0) served up homers to Jermaine Dye, Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski during his five innings but got the victory. Winless in six games on the White Sox’s home field before Friday, the Indians jumped on Chicago starter John Danks and reliever D.J. Carrasco in the fifth inning. Trailing 4-3, Cleveland loaded the bases on two singles and a walk to start the inning before Shin-Soo Choo delivered a two-run single that finished Danks (11-9). Carrasco walked Jhonny Peralta to reload the bases before Garko homered over the wall beyond outstretched center fielder Brian Anderson, putting the Indians up 9-4. “We have a lot of pride and we want to play hard for ourselves and our managers and the coaching staff,” Garko said. When the White Sox won the World Series in 2005, they went into Cleveland and swept a three-game series over the final weekend to knock the Indians out of the wild card. Revenge? “That’s not something I ever look at,” Indians manager Eric Wedge said. “I don’t give a damn who wins between Chicago and Minnesota. I gave a damn what we do.”
  15. I have no problem with him getting an extension. He's got his work cut out this winter though.
  16. Quotes from tonight. The attitude of this piss poor September team isn't any better. Why all the optimism on this site? We negative people are getting ripped pretty good when the tone of the clubhouse has been gloomy for many days.
  17. Whatever ... I've also expounded on my thoughts about them quitting. Pile on. I don't care. This team has waxed me of all energy. I think you can question a lot about this team's performance/effort/want-to in September. If we want to blame the loss of CQ and Crede and injury to Linebrink, I'll buy that as well. That's what's going to be the common thread nationally, that we couldn't overcome loss of those 3, especially CQ.
  18. I follow the team in enough ways to have a legitimate opinion. I'm not saying I'm right. I have an educated opinion though.
  19. No I'd prefer the guys who actually "may" have big league potential. All of those relievers mentioned are hacks. In my opinion we have three big league relievers -- Jenks and Thornton and Linebrink when healthy. I don't like Dotel either.
  20. Does anyone truly believe either of these guys could go more than an inning w/out giving up a run? Bless them for trying as younguns, but I dunno. I do agree I'd rather see them than the guys you mentioned. That is something Oz could legitimately be second guessed on when this thing mercifully comes to an end. But does anybody really have confidence in those two either at this stage of their development?
  21. Not many unfortunately. I've unfortunately had to follow the action on espn.com or yahoo.com and in the game threads. If they haven't quit ... then the only excuse I'll buy is that the loss of CQ finally demoralized them as well as the many bullpen implosions. I mean baseball players aren't dumb. They realize these relievers with the exception of Bobby and Thornton are dogs***. And don't tell me Dotel is good. (Liney gets a pass because of his injury). If they haven't quit I'll say they are simply demoralized and have thrown up their hands.
  22. Fine, you don't want to address my points which I think are somewhat valid. Sorry I asked you to put out the effort.
  23. I can buy these points. You might be right. I still say there's something to my take as well.
  24. This says a lot about why we don't deserve to play postseason ball (not that the Twins do). My god. Mike MacDougal should never ever have been allowed to join the big league team this season. Any team willing to give that guy the ball deserves to not make the playoffs. The other guys ... oh my god how bad they are. All of em. Horrific pitchers all. I'd hesitate to rank them in order of cruddiness. Too bad Dotel didn't join the fray tonight and add to the KC Royal horrificness of this Royals-led bullpen.
  25. Tony then you explain it. That it's "just baseball?" Please comment on my above take on the matter.
