  1. I simply cannot figure the manlove for Swish. Wise should have been the hero yesterday. It aint easy to hit a two strike, three run home run on the road in the dome. Had Javy not pitched like a BP pitcher and other Sox decided to stroke some clutch hits, Wise would have been hero of Game One. I hope Swish gets three hits today but he's just as apt to whiff every time up. I applaud Oz for playing him just because of the lefty thing; Wise probably woulda been overmatched. But the manlove for Swish baffles me. Wise gets three of our four RBIs yesterday; everybody but Wise s*** their pants. Paulie's homer was great but too late to mean anything.
  2. Aint that the truth. It would help if Juan would get a clutch hit once in a month.
  3. It was total bush league and fired up their wacky pitcher. We are about to see how much it has fired up their crowd and their team when he takes the plate. Very stupid. You get a base hit and that shuts the pitcher up. It was very very dumb to do that on the road. Stupid f***.
  4. No offense and I wish him the best today but Swish sucks. Thanks, OC, for making sure the Rays fans will be fired up out of their minds when you come to the plate in the first inning today. Stupid stupid move by OC yesterday. They are gonna want blood all game.
  5. I wish we'd keep Alexei at 2B for the next 10 years. But I bet they move him to ss. Hope he's not a sieve.
  6. Man I watched the replays of the homers and shot to center. My god it's like Javy is steering it right to the bat. Shows you how pitching has deteriorated in baseball that that guy was a game one starter in a playoff series. That was brutal how much he got roughed up. And the OC thing truly was embarrassing and just fired up their crowd more for when he leads off tomorrow. Not good at all.
  7. I'd love to see the entire Lou interview. But Fox doesn't show much of it. Wonder why? If Cubs do somehow win this series we know it definitely is their year cause no team could ever have played worse tonight. What's with the Cub infielders grabbing balls with the bare fists. If you are a cub fan the only word truly is "embarrassing." Kinda like I felt when we were tanking in Minnie and the first two vs. Cleveland.
  8. Wow. What a reminder the playoffs are a whole different entity. It just seems so amazing how quiet Wrigley was the past 2 games. Eerie quiet. I could hear the pitch hit the mitt on TV. Think of how nuts that is compared to the regular season when those crazies were going wild a majority of the games. Do you guys think the Cubs FOR CERTAIN are dead? Or will they bring it back to Wrigley. The Dodgers actually aren't that good. Is it OVA? Man I hope we win tomorrow and get it to the Cell 1-1.
  9. Excellent column in my opinion by Couch. Have to nod my head in agreement here. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/couch/11994...g100308.article
  10. Was Joe spraying champagne in the stands? That's so cool. I always loved that guy.
  11. I'd hate to see Crede snatching every grounder and liner we pull toward third 18 games a year and getting clutch hits and homers in The Cell vs. us as well as OC deciding he wanted to bury us every time he plays us. -- Is it just me or does Bartlett hit way over his head against us? Is it him being a former Twin? He f***ing kills the ball vs. us it seems.
  12. Thanks to Jordan4life for shedding some sanity on the situation. I think he's right. Who knows what Clayton would have done starting? He mighta been wild. I will say at the point of the game he was in, he looked good against their lefties. I think Jordan4Life's post is valid, though. We sort of had to start Javy unless we did the 3 day's rest thing again with Mark. I would think at some point that 3 day rest thing would really start to blow up in our faces.
  13. I think if we win tomorrow with Mark I'll start getting whacked out again. During the game I'll be happy with fairly low expectations again. But today I was calm the whole game. After what we've been through since the Yankee series and especially the 3 elimination games it was tough to get all worked up today. When Wise whacked the homer I didn't even get in the competititve mode, but if it woulda been 3-1 after 6 or so, it woulda been interesting. Like you all said, it is gravy. I truly think T. Bay has a better team. I do not blame injuries and haven't seen anybody blame injuries. But when Evan L. hit 2 dingers I couldn't help but wonder what would be up if Carlos Q was healthy. You do need some young guns who are studs and step up. IT AINT OVER YET!! GO SOX!!
  14. I'd keep him and turn him into a middle reliever, salary be damned. I think he'd be like Dotel, some days good, some awful. As far as the thread, yes he was the biggest reason we lost. You take the 3-1 lead and immediately are behind? I wish I could have heard what Stone said about that. That was a killer. That said, great relief job and we still could have made it interesting with some clutch home runs (we don't get clutch hits, only hrs of course). Nice job by Wise; we had a chance to stun them ala the Dodgers vs. Nubs in Game One had we held them at bay a couple innings. But Javy giving up the lead immediately!! My god that cooked us. Poor Javy, what a stiff. -- I was talking to somebody who was not a big baseball fan who wanted to know why a guy with 16 losses was pitching in a playoff game (and I don't blame Ozzie; I'd go with the headcase Vazzy today over a rookie)? I just said I don't know.
  15. Badger did you watch that last fly out? Javy is so bad their hitters are licking their chops. It's bombs away like he's a home run derby pitcher. Playing on the road sucks. We need to stay within a run (somehow with Javy) and steal the game late with a bomb.
  16. Badger you are nuts. That was all on Javy. he gave the lead right back. The question is is Longoria gonna set some kind of record for home runs today?
  17. Wow. Paulie takes strike three. Giving the lead back immediately is a huge killer. Thanx javy. Man you do stink.
  18. This dome is doom. Only way we are gonna win is to pull out a 10-8 victory.
  19. At this rate, Longoria is gonna hit 5 home runs today not just four. Javy is a BP pitcher; it's hilarious. The uppercut swings by Tampa. Wow. Let's see if we lay down on the road or keep fighting. Would nice to see Paulie hit a bomb. Or Griff. Fathom I dunno about if Griffey coulda done anythiung about it. Doubtful. It was a pretty good cannon over his head.
  20. He's running even down 2 runs.
  21. This is why I love baseball; who would have thunk Wise would pound a two strike pitch for a 3 run homer when mired in a horrific slump?? And then with two out and pitcher on ropes with man on second Jimmy weakly taps out. Let's enjoy this playoff baseball game. Hang in there, Sox. beat these young bums.
  22. Get ready Jimmy; drive it baby.
  23. Wise just laced a two strike, three run home run after being in a major slump. How do you explain it?? No more Wise criticism from me. Nice 2B by Dye; keep it goin.
  24. I'll shut up on Wise forever; my god a 3- run homer, fathom it was a liner!!!
  25. He's gonna whiff; we all know this.
