  1. I thought it was cool they caught Oz freaking out in the dugout yelling for Dye to move in on the last at bat. Then a bloop gets hit and BA makes the extension and grabs it. It's one of the reasons I really like Oz. He makes dumb moves sometimes, sometimes arguably really dumb moves, but I think he really knows baseball. It's scary to think how good a manager he will be in 20 years.
  2. I know I will probalby be mad if we tank but I think anybody who truly gets upset at the team or Oz or KW for anything that happens from this point forward is simply an idiot. This is all gravy, folks. Tampa has a better team than we do. We're the underdog. Yes I badly want to win, and I'm sure I will be pissed at certain players if they stink in this round and hopefully the ALCS, but this team already has proven a lot to me for winning those 3 elimination games and getting in. Do you agree with me you'd have to be a real mope being really mad at the Sox for anything that happens the rest of the way this season? Thanx Sox and play with the house's money. Relax and kick ass. You got nothing to lose.
  3. Sox should be very loose going in. I mean after what they've been through, this is gravy, they are playing with the house's money. Javy should be loose as well. As far as Swish playing ... I don't like Wise, but is there a method to Oz's madness? Wise does have some speed. Pardon my ignorance, but I assume those wanting Swish back in there want him to play lf for Wise? Obviously Paulie needs to play and Griffey is in cf now.
  4. That was so cool the TV network caught it, showing Oz going wild telling them to move in. That's why I love Ozzie just because I think being around baseball all his life he really knows the game. Second guessing is so easy; s*** he'd have gotten fried tonight if we lost; every loss has second guessing. I actually was thinking what the thread starter was at one point. I thought: Well Oz took a chance calling out Blackburn and the kid responded rather than wetting the bed. I''m sure Oz woulda got fried had we "lost." We didn't though. Have a beer. Congrats Oz on great moves tonight. (I'm not a big Wise fan despite that granny he hit the other day). I'll save that discussion for another day!!
  5. Even at pathetic Royals Stadium you run into the wrong drunks with your jersey on you could get whacked in the head with a bottle or something. I went to that 14 inning game and some dumbass drunk KC fan couldn't even tell I was rooting for the Sox. KC did something great and the dumbass wanted to high five me. I'm thinking if I had a Buehrle jersey on I probably woulda got harassed from him n his group. I do respect you guys for wearing Sox gear on the road though.
  6. Danks really was unhittable. It's what we needed. s*** we only got him one run.
  7. Not too many said they stopped caring, did they? I christened them buried. I'm so glad they rallied to make the postseason. I just didn't want to imagine an offseason and future after losing 6 straight to end the regular season and wimpily go out. Congrats to those who never wavered once. The Minnie losses were the ones that made me hop into insanity and anger, calling them pussies. GO SOX!!
  8. Cool as long as no fights broke out. Just out of curiosity how did they react? They had to be so bummed at scoring nada runs.
  9. I don't know why Mauer bunted but it made me sooo happy. One less out we had to earn. Wow that was huge!
  10. Sorry for freaking out as we lost one, two, three, four and five in a row and not believing. Those who never once did not b**** at our lack of balls, heart, fire, whatever ... take a bow.
  11. Yes he must be. Danks and Floyd and Griffey coming through. Have a beer, KW.
  12. I read every post. What an enjoyable thread. What a great game to watch all the way through. But 1-0? You gotta be kidding me. Who'd have thought that? When Juan hit the line drive fly out to left leaving two runners on base, I couldn't help but wonder if the "piranhas" would scrape together a couple runs and beat us. But like you said ... Danks (amazing). AJ (holding onto that ball on the tag was monumental. Don't know how the ball didn't pop out or even his glove fall off). Thome (just what you'd expect that one of our veterans would come through big time). Griffey (excellent one hop throw; amazing tag by AJP and one for the ages shot of him sticking the ball out at the baserunner; classic!) Anderson (wow, I can only imagine what it was like at the Cell when he read the fly ball perfectly and laid it out there; had to be once in a lifetime feeling for the fans there; tell us more about it those of you who were there!!) Jenks ... wow. He was perfect. Dominating ninth inning. Ozzie ... my gosh. He's the leader of the pack. Again there could have been second guessing if we lost. Give him his due when we win. Nice job Ozzie all the way through. Fans ... great job. Got up for it several times I'm sure helping Jenks and Danks. Congrats especially to you fans who told us who were so depressed and mad and wanted to jump off buildings after the 3 losses to the Twins and 2 losses to the Tribe who kept the faith. I was so down and mad and depressed that we couldn't man up and take the division. Some of you had the faith. Way to go! Sorry some of us brought you down, but it was tough to take. Great job White Sox and Oz. I frankly could care less if Javy is starting. He is on the team and needs to man up like the rest of our starters. By him starting everybody else will be back on normal rest I believe. Whatever ... we're big underdogs. Hopefully we'll stay hot, but I'm OK with Javy pitching. It's up to him to do the job. GO SOX!!! Those of you who drink, have a beer tonight. I just went out and got some Miller Lite. Have to toast the team tonite!
  13. Danks was phenomenal. What great command tonight. Danks and Floyd. Congrats Kenny, Danks and Floyd. And we can put to bed criticism of the 3 days rest thing. Other teams did it as well. Our starters manned up. Get drunk Danks, Floyd and Mark and of course Bobby. You deserve the beer tonite.
  14. Wow, Oz officially has given up on Swish. Hope Wise has another decent game in him.
  15. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I might go with Swish over Wise. But Oz is gonna go with Griffey in cf so won't Wise have to play left instead of Swish? Got to play Paulie.
  16. Awesome stuff. I hope trash talking really doesn't matter in sports cause from what I've read we've given them more bulletin board than they've given us. I don't think talk matters though it apparently turned Javy into a wreck. GO SOX! JUST WIN BABY.
  17. What about his two walks today? No I'm not being sarcastic. I think Oz will be too superstitious. But is Swish a walking DP or K right now? I think Oz may be scared of Swish more than anything. Wise is a bit speedier in theory.
  18. Wow, hope Johnny throws strikes in that wind.
  19. And one more: JOHN DANKS: “I know we were embarrassed there,” Danks said. “I’m sure we would like to not have to worry about playing them one more time, but at the same time this is a chance to get them back. It’s the perfect situation.” In order for the Sox to advance to the postseason for the first time since their World Series title in 2005, they’ll need an impressive outing from Danks, who will be starting for the first time on three days’ rest. “The ball will be in my court to get us there,” Danks said. ME: Hope John Danks can pitch on 3 days rest.
  20. NICK PUNTO: “We’ve played good against Chicago this year,” said Twins shortstop Nick Punto, one of only a few players still around the clubhouse as the final outs were recorded. “It is a little different in this Metrodome than it is there, but we feel real confident in the way we are playing right now. We look forward to beating (Chicago manager) Ozzie Guillen and the White Sox.” MARK BUEHRLE: “I think if we were going there I wouldn’t like our chances as much as having them here,” he said. “I hope we absolutely beat the living crap out of them. It’s one of those games that if we are 20 runs ahead, hope we are still stealing bases and hitting and running because they are such a good team they could come back from that.” RON GARDENHIRE “We know where we are going and we know what we’ve got to do,” Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said in a statement. “Win a ballgame.” AJP: “Last week, when we played (the Twins), they handled us for three games,” White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski said. “It’ll be nice to get them on our turf.” AJP on Gavin: Floyd, however, was nervous from the outset, according to Pierzynski. But he overcame his throwing error, which put the Tigers ahead 2-1 in the sixth. “If you’re not nervous in that situation, there’s something wrong with you,” Pierzynski said. JOE CHRISTENSEN (Minn. Star-Tribune newspaper) Now the Twins must come to this house of horrors, where they are 2-7 this season, to decide which team moves on to play at Tampa Bay on Thursday in the first round of the playoffs. OZ: “I’ll take my chance against (Blackburn) after the way he pitched the last time,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. “He did not pitch well. We just didn’t approach him the right way.” “Tomorrow, 162 games mean nothing. It’s only about one game and that’s great,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. “A good feeling.” NICK BLACKBURN: “I’m excited about it,” Blackburn said. He has already pitched against the White Sox five times this season, going 2-2 with a 5.67 ERA, 37 hits, four homers, nine walks and 12 strikeouts over 27 innings. “The couple starts before that weren’t too good, so to know that I can still go out there and get guys out was good,” Blackburn said. “But I’m not going to let it change my thinking. I’m just going to approach it just like I do every other game I have this year.” PUNTO ON BLACKBURN: “He’s pitching well. He’s going to work the sinker, work the cutter, and hopefully work some magic,” Punto said. Me: Good luck, White Sox.
  21. I hope Oz makes the right call and doesn't just go by superstition. I dislike Swish much but I'm not a big Wise guy. But the fact he drew two walks and scored a run probably was pretty big in Oz's eyes. I'd suspect Wise will be back out there wouldn't you all? Swish wouldn't have caught that bomb in left that Wise didn't come up with as well.
  22. That would be so cool if we could kick some Twins butt and finally relax til Thursday. Man to pull it out after that wild wooly month with all those bad times in early, mid and pretty late September.
  23. I hope our crowd goes nuts. Those domers got 3 home games last week against us and we paid the price. We need to intimidate them into oblivion and beat them like KC did. They looked mighty ordinary all 3 vs. the Royals. GO SOX; MASH TWINS!
  24. I pick Lexi today at least. Can Thome pick it up tomorrow? Would be nice to score early and often. Today was great but mighty scary after letting Freddie off the hook in the first. Didn't we have just four hits even after Lexi's awesome slam?? Then we got some late which was nice. Our bats need to come out firing and we our home field needs to be insane. Hopefully it'll be the polar opposite of our woes in the Twinkdome.
  25. Hope our fans are going nuts. They certainly could help I would think if they make raucous noise all nite.
