I don't know. I always kind of liked AJ. From reading all the articles, it's apparent Swish will be back especially since he's affordable. I don't wish ill will on him. I hope he bounces back. I just never thought he was worthy of the manlove on here especially during the period Paulie was sucking and got roasted. If I had my way though, KW would move on and dump him and try again in the continuing quest to find a replacement for Rowand.

I put Floyd. I think Danks is much nastier. Hopefully all will continue to excel, though.

The Cubs might want to consider adding a big video board like the Cell for nights like those in the playoffs when the place was funeral-like. They don't have any artificial noisemakers like we do, do they? In hallowed Wrigley Field? Those fans should be embarrassed for their zombie like ways in the playoffs. The Cubs will be sold out every game again next year and the year after no matter what they do in the season/postseason. The Sox will always be second fiddle. Who cares?

KW's messin' with us: Getz and Owens the change we've bee
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I saw some quotes earlier as well saying there were speedier guys in the organization like Getz and Owens (he even included Fields as fairly fast) for Oz to use if he wishes. -
Cause Swish has been given a free pass by many for this season for some reason. They say he'll be fine next year when he's set in a regular position. Whatever. I'd cut my losses and dump him for your proverbial bag of balls. Try it again, KW.

Don't we talk about Figgins and Roberts on here every year? Is Figgins worth this much discussion?
-
Cub fans won't convert. They'll keep packing that dump. One thing about the Cubs, you would think if they keep the same team they'll probably be locks for the playoffs again. The only thing that will prevent them eventually from getting to the WS is the postseason choke thing.
-
Does that mean he may get his average up to say, .250? The only reason to keep him is we can't get anything for him.
-
I understand the risk stuff, but it's wild how the teams line up to sign the Zitos of the world. You would think the Yankees will give CC the biggest salary in baseball history as desperate as they must be to win. Bigger than A-Rods.
-
I just read some of the postgame stuff finally. KW hugged Swish and said, 'Start over next year.' That doesn't mean he won't trade him, but I can see the front office taking the stance that it was an off year which I don't necessarily agree with.

Good points all in your post. I guess what you are also telling me is he's a future Yankee, Met or Red Sox.

I never thought of it that way, but since that road trip where we played the Yanks, Royals, Twinks it's been all White Sox every day. Thanks, Sox for a very good year. It was fun, especially that 14 inning game I saw in KC where you nearly choked away a game, but amazingly won it on a 6-4-3 DP to end the proceedings with about 500 fans including me left in the KC stands. But please, in future years can you be a bit less Jeckyll-Hyde? Not where you look pathetic for 4 games then like WS champs for the next four? Oh well nitpicking. It was a WILD ride. Good job, Sox. You never quit and I wonder how different our team would have looked late with CQ. No excuses, but hey ... if he kept being CQ, it mighta been even more special a season.

How old is ol' Paulie? He had some nice at bats the last month and a half into the postseason. Also some high pop ups. Way high in the air.

OK guys and Steff (is she the only girl on here?) ... seriously. CC Sabathia. Why not? We are Chicago; a big market. Think about how he would help our staff and get everybody 110 percent jacked for next season. We'd be picked by everybody to win the division. It's just f***ing money. Is Jerry gonna take it to the grave with him? What are the Sox worth now? Some astronomical amount. Since they went back to the cool uniforms years ago after some of the old monstrocity uniforms, they must sell gobs of merchandise alone. Think about it. The Flubs got Soriano a few offseasons ago. They get Harden at the break. What about CC Sabathia?? Do we have to think small just because we are the White Sox? I want some serious comments. Can we get him? And the obvious answer is no, then why not??

Alexi for leadoff hitter! Just kidding. OC's our leadoff hitter for the next five years. Kidding again. Can we acquire Roberts? Is it possible or likely?
-
That has to be the Soxtalk line of the year; wow. What creativity. I nominate it for line of the year. If Swish comes back he has a lot to prove. I know he draws walks but you have to hit better than he did. Maybe he'd be better in Year Two with the same team but he certainly was a C this year; he doesn't deserve a B.
-
You also need a White Sox press guide or media guide as it's called. Maybe you can buy one online somewhere.
-
I can't root for the Rays either. Call me crazy but the young guns from the Dome I don't think are that good either. Remember they and the Twins had crazy winning percentages in their s***ass domes. Boston might as well win another one so they won't be as jacked for next year.
-
One of our problems was we didn't have a great leadoff hitter. Maybe we'd like him better if he batted lower. I won't miss him but I wouldn't tear my hair out if we signed him for one year. I can't imagine him getting some megabuck deal somewhere. But maybe teams are that crazy. Detroit wasn't crazy about Renteria either, right? I'm not a big OC fan that is for sure.

I agree fully. I may eat my words, but I think Boston will bash their pitching around quite a bit in the division series. Glad to see the Sox never use excuses about injuries or anything. They pretty much gave it their all I feel. Lots of promise for the future. Obviously lot of work ahead for KW. Home runs are great but it's pretty apparent fans want to see a bit more balance. Should be interesting to see if all the veteran bombers are back or if they are traded and if they are traded what will we get for the slow footed guys who can still knock the ball over the fence on a fairly regular basis.

I didn't read the game thread today, may look through it later to see how everybody felt about the game. I thought it was disappointing. Sounds dumb, I know, but I was hoping Boston would have wrapped it up last night and we played the marquee game at night with perhaps the Sox getting ultra psyched about the fact they could get home field vs. the Bosox in the next series. I was hoping we were the only show of the day and our guys would find a way again to win. Not blaming the 4 p.m. start; just thought we played flat. What's everybody's take on Gavin? Mad at Ozzie for the early hook? Or was it apparent he didn't have it. I thought he didn't really have it. I guess he could have let him try six, seven innings like he probably would have done had it been a regular season game, but he didn't look like he was fooling anybody. We got the bad Dotel today. Immediate double. Our fans seemed pretty darn good. Oh well ... I'm still not convinced the Rays' pitching is that good. If I had to bet my life savings, I'd bet Boston in five games max. No excuses, but we certainly missed CQ's explosive bat. I logged into chat in case anybody wants to talk baseball.
-
IT would be so cool to continue to man up and win another elimination game. Then who knows in Game Five? Cmon Sox, one more at home.
-
I still think Boston is going to win that series, probably at home tonight.
-
Yes, but he should stay in the bigs if not a starter a key reserve for somebody. No doubt what he did today was special. He's actually having a good series on the whole. Glad to see Uribe stroke a nice hit today. If he could actually get hot, that would help.
-
Would be nice to see the lefty veterans do some damage. We need Jimmy to crush 3 homers; Griffey two; AJ one. I can dream.
