Brian Anderson and Brad Penny at club
How can he be a good deal worse than Swisher, Thunderbolt? Even if he doesn't hit (which he will) he will be rock solid defensively, unlike Swisher.
-
What will be Kenny's signature move of 08-09?
I predict he's gonna go with his own: Anderson in cf, Fields at third and Getz at second. He'll acquire some more bullpen hopefuls and make one deal for starting pitching help. He's trade one of Thome, Swisher, Paulie, Dye.

Brian Anderson and Brad Penny at club
Why don't the Sox just start Anderson in cf next season? That was a pretty nice catch he had to win the Twins' game. Let him play. See what he's got over 600 at bats. He can't hit any worse that f***ing Swisher.

The Republican Thread
Somebody convince this lifelong Republican why I should continue my streak of voting for Republicans tomorrow. McCain's picking Palin ousted me. I'm still gonna check White Sox fan's name at this moment.

Why is Greg Walker coming back?
I'd argue that Uribe had one hot streak; Swish looked like a guy in need of a hitting guru. Yeah there were bright spots. I'm thinking hitting coaches probably don't matter in this day and age. Guys won't listen anyways. Hitting coaches just make sure guys put in the work and make sure they get extra hitting, etc. But if they DO MATTER I feel Walker is not top notch. If they don't matter and Oz likes hanging with him, fine.

Why is Greg Walker coming back?
I think it's pretty dumb to bring Greg Walker back. I never personally piled on him on here during the season, but isn't it time for a change? The only reason I see bringing Greg back is the assumption hitting coaches don't matter. The assumption that modern day players won't listen to a hitting coach anyway. If that is true then ... nevermind this argument. What do you folks think? If hitting coaches DO matter, then I think it's safe to say Greg deserves a grade of D for last season and shouldn't be back. Just reassign him. Swish needed help and never got it or never listened to it. He was abysmal. Paulie didn't figure it out til the last month and a half when he was Paulie again. Uribe's approach is a trainwreck. Wise was a mess his last 40 at bats or so. CQ gets hit so many times he may never be healthy after getting plunked on his hands over and over next spring training. Thome could use some advice. That shift is not conducive to winning White Sox baseball. He has power to left center. Why hit grounders at the shallow right fielder all the time? Who does Greg Walker help at the plate? Our lineup was so hot and cold. Didn't we get shut out a great number of times? Again ... why not a change on the staff? Why does Oz love Greg Walker? It doesn't make sense.

The Democrat Thread
Congrats Barack. You are the next president. Looking forward to seeing you throw out the first pitch at the Cell next season.

The Republican Thread
I have never voted for a democratic presidential candidate in my life, but cannot vote for John. His choice of Palin was so stupid it is beyond belief. She is probably the hottest chick (her age) in the history of her age. But to be second in command? My god. DUMB choice John. DUMB. Palin needs to host a TV show immediately after the election. Although her voice and you betcha is annoying. John you were a fool picking the hot chick. So dumb.

Guess which candidate has family members living in the US illegally
This is dumb. Who cares about Obama's aunt? He's gonna win because McCain picked a pretty bimbo as his running mate.

Guess which candidate has family members living in the US illegally
Folks, the next president of the U.S. is a huge White Sox fan. He will be throwing out the first pitch in the Cell on Opening Day next year for sure. A Sox fan is president. Wow! --I've never voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in my life before this. McCain's choice of Palin was just DUMB! Her stupid sayings and acting like the pretty woman she is is insane. Horrible choice by John.

Trading Vazquez a "priority"
How do we know this? He seemed like he had potential to me.
-
Fields to start in 2009?
Why don't we let Fields play third and sign Renteria and keep Lexi at second? I'm all for giving Fields a shot.
-
Trading Vazquez a "priority"
I'd have to agree with fathom again. It is going to be frustrating if we add singles hitters who are fast. Like he said, just add talented players. Not somebody who can't even hit a double. We are going to need a decent replacement for Vazquez on the mound as well. I just think Kenny should trade one of the big boppers in our liineup, Dye, PK or Thome realizing there are no trade clauses involved.
-
Trading Vazquez a "priority"
I'm kind of scared about Lexi at ss as well. As mediocre as OC was and that stupid blowup in the playoffs which accomplished nothing, it was pretty comforting to see a ball hit to OC and realize it was going to be an out. Normally ... I realize he kicked some, but he was a pretty good ss. Lexi like fathom said was kind of a loose cannon at times even at 2B. I wish we'd sign Renteria and give him a try and keep Lexi put at 2B.

Will Tampa Bay be back next year?
Can you imagine if we had to play Boston and NY as many times as they do? That would not be good.
-
Sox Sign 2B Jayson Nix
Would any of you be irate if Nix opened the season as our starting 2B?
-
2008 World Series - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Wow. Phillies in 5?? What is that all about? See, somebody was able to beat the Rays. It coulda been us with CQ.

Steve Stone
Paulie finished pretty strong power wise. He may not be done quite yet.
-
Swisher Analysis
Is that because you think we can't get anything good for him (which I'd agree with) or the fact you think he's going to help us win a division and advance in the playoffs (I have some serious doubts about that).

Griffey Jr. not to be re-signed
Great suggestion. He should be our next hitting coach. What guy had a sweeter swing than Griffey? I'm not blaming Walker for our weird offense, but now that it's the offseason why not make a change there? I mean Walker was a pretty mediocre hitter himself and couldn't get our guys to do squat except hit bombs on occasion. Unless CQ believes Walker is a god, let Walker go now before it becomes a distraction during the season again. Griffey as player/hitting coach at 3 million a year.

Sox Sign 2B Jayson Nix
At least this guy I think it said was a No. 44 overall pick in the draft. KW is hoping the proverbial change of scenery will make the guy blossom. Sounds like a guy who will definitely open in the minors and will have to impress to ever get a shot with us. Unless Oz really likes what he sees in spring training.

Swisher Analysis
Good points, I even said I think it's possible Swish rebounds. I just don't like the "bad luck" argument at all. It just doesn't make sense to me.
-
Swisher Analysis
You know what? I respectfully disagree. The guy hit .210. That simply sucks. I don't care how many OBP stats, etc., you unveil. The guy had a very miniscule number of hits. Swisher had a s***ty season and I feel his batting average showed that. I mean Sox pitcher Gary Peters back in the day could have outhit Swisher this season.
-
Swisher Analysis
--My gosh, how stats have changed. Can you imagine when Bill Melton played having all these wacky stats and some guy proclaiming much of your problems due to "bad luck?" My god. Swisher's batting average was horrific. It was a bad trade. Can he rebound? I guess he can. At least this writer was fair. He pointed out Swisher's taking those pitches right down the middle which was baffling to say the least. The guy had a s***ty year. Can he have a monster year next year? I wouldn't think so. But I would think he'll be motivated right from the get-go if Ozzie doesn't beat the s*** out of him first. It was pretty apparent Oz thought the guy couldn't play down the stretch. I don't buy the fact he had to play Wise cause Griffey was so bad in CF he needed some more speed. Until proven otherwise I think he sat Swish late cause Swish stunk.

Bruce Levine on ESPN 1000
Santo that's giving up too much. Floyd had a great year and is showing the promise people felt he had. Poreda could be a standout as well. Fields also may still be a good pro. Zito was perhaps the worst starter in the history of baseball last season (except for Kip Wells every season).
