  1. At least this guy I think it said was a No. 44 overall pick in the draft. KW is hoping the proverbial change of scenery will make the guy blossom. Sounds like a guy who will definitely open in the minors and will have to impress to ever get a shot with us. Unless Oz really likes what he sees in spring training.
  2. Good points, I even said I think it's possible Swish rebounds. I just don't like the "bad luck" argument at all. It just doesn't make sense to me.
  3. You know what? I respectfully disagree. The guy hit .210. That simply sucks. I don't care how many OBP stats, etc., you unveil. The guy had a very miniscule number of hits. Swisher had a s***ty season and I feel his batting average showed that. I mean Sox pitcher Gary Peters back in the day could have outhit Swisher this season.
  4. --My gosh, how stats have changed. Can you imagine when Bill Melton played having all these wacky stats and some guy proclaiming much of your problems due to "bad luck?" My god. Swisher's batting average was horrific. It was a bad trade. Can he rebound? I guess he can. At least this writer was fair. He pointed out Swisher's taking those pitches right down the middle which was baffling to say the least. The guy had a s***ty year. Can he have a monster year next year? I wouldn't think so. But I would think he'll be motivated right from the get-go if Ozzie doesn't beat the s*** out of him first. It was pretty apparent Oz thought the guy couldn't play down the stretch. I don't buy the fact he had to play Wise cause Griffey was so bad in CF he needed some more speed. Until proven otherwise I think he sat Swish late cause Swish stunk.
  5. Santo that's giving up too much. Floyd had a great year and is showing the promise people felt he had. Poreda could be a standout as well. Fields also may still be a good pro. Zito was perhaps the worst starter in the history of baseball last season (except for Kip Wells every season).
  6. You really think people on the board would be in favor of adding Moyer after last season for this season??
  7. True fathom but I'd like to give Jamie Moyer credit. If we had him on our team at his age as an acquisition everybody would SCREAM on here. He pitched a f***ing great game. We could do a lot worse than picking up some old pitcher who can eat up innings like Moyer. Congrats to a class act, Jamie Moyer. Baseball, by the way is a fricking joke. The game ends just before 2 a.m. Eastern. There are so many things wrong about that there is no need to mention. f*** YOU commissioner.
  8. Fair enough. How bout Swish, Wise and Dotel for DeJesus? Or sign Ibanez, isn't he a free agent?
  9. Why not? Retire it. Do we have a white sox hall of fame like the Royals do? We should. He'd be in it.
  10. There's a good Byrd and bad Byrd, kind of like Wakefield. No thanx.
  11. How bout Swish, Wise and Dotel for Rowand. Go ahead, flame away.
  12. Is this reporter reliable? I mean I would think Swish and Vas are trade bait because they stunk this year. Why wouldn't the Sox want to dump their asses? But it's still very early on the other 3. You wait, when it's snowing and sleeting and the memory of this season is gone, Thome and Dye are going to sound good to teams and their fans, maybe Paulie as well. s***, Jose Guillen sounded great to Royals fans last offseason. Paulie actually finished pretty strong making me wonder why the f*** he couldn't adjust and turn it around earlier in the season.
  13. The Javy of the last month? I find that hard to believe. Is the NL as bad as the minor leagues now? He was horrific.
  14. It amazes me that we always list these type of contracts for other teams ... then say quickly the Sox would never want the guy. Somebody pointed out a concern Garland was one of the worst pitchers in the league last year. Yet he's gonna get four years at 8 mill a year and we won't offer him anything? Why are these players good enough for other teams and not the Sox? (see posts on CC being fat and arm weary).
  15. This isn't meant as a slam at AJ, who arguably tied for the single best play in our season (holding onto the ball; Thome's bomb the other), but is anybody concerned about his throwing ability, or doesn't it matter in the AL? Can he throw out anybody? Again, is it no big deal in the league of the DH? Or are you concerned his ability to throw people out has diminished greatly?
  16. I can't imagine the Sox thinking Jose will ever pitch again. He's old. He's old. He's old. And he's not very good.
  17. Anybody that wants Boone Logan is a nutcase. His pitches scream hit me at all times.
  18. We ain't gonna make the playoffs without upgrading the starting rotation as well as the pen. I want Jon. If he's done then baseball teams are ridiculous giving any pitcher more than a 2 year deal. These guys are breaking down at 30??
  19. I don't. I'm just saying many teams don't care about that. They just sign the guy. Garland is a FA??? What the frick. SIGN HIM. We need him back. He's the inning eater. I want Jon.
  20. Javy stinks. Jose is over the hill
  21. How come the Brewers can make a run at CC but we can't? Attendance has been great on the south side. Sox need to make a splash of some kind, folks. If we hadn't squeaked out Minnesota and won the division, people would be clamoring for a total rebuild.
  22. Whenever we mention somebody exciting somebody on here says no way it'll happen because of money. We need a better bullpen or we're going nowhere next year. We also still need another starter; two if Javy is sent packing. That's just pitching. We all know we need some speed in the lineup, not all speed but some. Good luck Kenny. We're aging in many spots including catcher and we ain't a lock to even have as good a year next year as we did this year. Rebuilding by the way can and usually does suck. Ask the Chiefs. I'd rather tinker and continue to have a decent contender on paper.
  23. You'd think the networks were praying for Boston-Philly. They get the Rays who never even had a decent fan base at home til this year much less a national fan base. Nobody's gonna watch, folks.
  24. Tough loss for Boston. It shows how terribly hard it is to come back from 3-1 against a damn good team. Bosox had plenty of chances as we did. Some sluggers were up with a man on base in late innings with chances to hit the White Sox all or nothing type dinger to tie it. Like us, they failed. Tough loss when you have that kind of payroll. I would think Bosox fans are mighty pissed. It's changed in Beantown since they started spending like mad and winning. Some damn good high paid players made outs against that no name reliever at the end.
  25. Fourth inning. The Bosox may be in trouble. They didn't knock out Garza early and he's settled in. Trouble a brewin.
