  1. After that catch to beat the Twins, Anderson deserves his shot to start next season. Just say no to Taveras.
  2. Why is WT better than Owens? Why?
  3. Taveras is on another team so many like him. Give me a break. He's Willie Harris. He's Gathright. He's OWENS! We don't need Harris.
  4. Interesting thread. I have my own question out of leftfield. Should Thome try to bust the Thome shift? He has power to all fields. Why not stroke it to left field next season? Any ground outs will be base hits instead of grounders to the right fielder.
  5. Mark isn't free of criticism on here. It's just time to try something new. Get rid of Javy.
  6. If we want Willie Taveras why didn't we just keep Willie Harris?
  7. Swish better get off to a good start this season. Those fans in NY wouldn't like the Swish we had all but one month last season. What a light-hitting stiff he was for us.
  8. I respectfully disagree with you a lot. 1.) Why wouldn't Garland come back to Chicago? Great city. He won a title here. 2.) You say he's not worth whatever he's asking. Who the hell in baseball today IS WORTH what they are asking/making?? I mean if you want us to have all guys in the first 3-4 years of their careers making peanuts, say so. But my god. How many players do you think are worth what they make? None? I'd agree with that. No ballplayer who is eligible for free agency is worth what he's making. 3.) Garland is not exactly old I realize what Kenny said about money. 4.) If JR and KW won't give a 3-4 year deal, then I guess just keep getting guys like Danks and Floyd. Even the Royals have signed some free agent pitchers like Meche. You think Meche is worth what he is making? Of course not. They are paying him anyway. I think there's a decent chance Danks and Floyd will regress next season. Hopefully they won't. We need some veteran pitchers and Oz obviously wants nothing to do with Javy. My rotation: Mark, Danks, Floyd, Garland, Byrd. I think my rotation is a division winner.
  9. Trade Javy with Jermaine in a blockbuster; sign Garland as an inning eater. He's better than Byrd. Garland is less annoying than Javy. Just do it.
  10. I'm proud of baseball teams for not picking up Bonds last season. That was nice.
  11. Sort of. But I don't think many fans have a problem with going younger and hopefully a little faster on the basepaths. But they probably shouldn't be raising ticket prices in this economy. Baseball ticket prices are so out of whack it's amazing. I guess some people have the money.
  12. Best job in world: Baseball player. Worst job: Working stiff (non rich) fan. Baseball player can drink tons of beer get chubby and still excel at the game while chubby. Can drink beer in clubhouse after the game for free and take a limo home. Fan can drink beer if he'll pay 7.50 a beer. It'll be warm, he'll get fat and have the wife yell at him for getting drunk at the game. And he may get a DUI on the way home.
  13. Certainly KW can't be so dumb as to take on Jose Guillen. I can imagine Dayton Moore asking teams about Guillen. I am sure fellow GMs laugh over the phone uncontrollably. I stand by my statement it would be the worst trade in Sox history to have Dye in a trade for that bum. Dye is total class; Guillen a total ass.
  14. Caulfield I understand your loyalty and vouching for him. He was a DISASTER in KC. If you want to say that's because they were a losing team, I call bulls***. He also was not productive at the plate. He was an automatic out for so long as KC fell out of contention then had one very hot period for maybe a month. He sucked again right after the all star break. He was a fricking disaster. You can't write off this season as saying it was simply out of character. I pray he doesn't join our team. He is a clown.
  15. With all due respect, that would be the worst trade in Sox history and assure us flip flopping KC in the standings. Dye is one class act! Guillen is one of the most selfish pricks in baseball history. The troubles he had this past year in KC were mind boggling and legendary. He is somebody you do not want on your team, period. He also had slumps as bad as Paulie. Guillen is a disaster. No Sox fan in their right mind would root for that bum. Richard seems to be a good prospect. Dye remains productive. While DeJesus is pretty good, he is no Beltran. He can't steal a base or won't and can't learn at this part of his career. I like him personally and he's the opposite of Guillen personality wise. He'd be OK to have I guess. I predict Ozzie will beat up Jose Guillen before the season is over if we get him. He'll physically kick his ass which is what Hillman shoulda done.
  16. We keep talking DeJesus on this board. Who would the Royals want for him? They don't need Fields with Gordon trying to emerge at third. The Royals already have enough mediocre pitchers. They don't want Javy. So who would they want?
  17. I'd think if the Cubs want Teahan they'll get him for some of those names mentioned in the article.
  18. I agree. I didn't want Crisp. Royals have changed two of their nine everyday lineup guys. I don't think they've upgraded much with Crisp and Jacobs.
  19. I agree, though I was encouraged reading some article about the Sox brass being high on some minor league reliever ready to take over for Bobby. I'm not sold on Thornton closing, not at all, except by committee.
  20. Did anybody see the little pissing match in the media. Gotta love it. This was from DeLuca's article in the SunTimes. Good article by the way on Viciedo up on their Website. p.s. Cubano, love your posts and your attitude. You are da man.
  21. Me too. But that ain't happening. Hope KW and his scouts have evaluated these Mets correctly. Can you say rebuilding mode?
  22. Viciedo is 19? Is that the truthful age? If he's older already maybe he'll pull a Lexi and rule in spring training and make the team. Would be nice to start Fields and see if competition pushes him to hit from the start. If this Viciedo is as good as Lexi ... wow, the future on the left side of the infield appears bright.
  23. Anybody who thinks Affeldt can be a closer is a moron. He is awful. That's why I think in the offseason you can trade a Paullie or Dye and get a lot in return. If Paulie had a trade clause. Guys sound much better in the offseason, like MacDougal, Sisco, Dotel, Swisher. During the season when you see Paulie not hit 3 months, not so much. Affeldt pure and simple sucks.

It's funny how sometimes third base coaches want to believe our plodders can somehow make it home on a single to left or center from second base. Then reality sets in and our only hope of getting the runner in is a horrible throw. Not complaining. Our home run era has been exciting, but the coaches at third need to get real and never get a plodder throw out.
  25. Gload was great, but probably proved with KC he's a career backup. No poor man's Mark Grace.
