  1. Until the Twins move out of that park, Minnie is my choice. I would think on paper the Sox are the best of the rest. Who knows, though? Hopefully nobody will run away (unless it's Sox). The summer will suck if the Sox are out of the race before the all-star break. There are so many question marks. If Soria was a starter I'd love the Royals rotation. It seems the Twins and Sox remain a solid 1-2 on paper until somebody proves otherwise. I love Ozzie, but he has been given a team with most of the ingredients to win. This is assuming the defense will be adequate. On paper Oz has a good bullpen (gulp), if Count is back a good rotation, veterans sluggers, a veteran backstop. But we have to assume Minnesota will have an amazing home record. The Twins can't play any worse than they did on the road last year. If they improve that a bit, everybody else is in the Twins' wake.
  2. Fair enough. As far as whoever brought race into this, give me a break. That did get me thinking, however, to why I really like Joe. One of the reasons is I played third base all my life and naturally you look at that position more than others if you played it all your life. I thought he was a great great third baseman, except for last year. I will miss his D. He is awfully slow on the basepaths, so hopefully he'll slow down the piranhas.
  3. Is this the year Dotel is dominant? There were a lot of Dotel lovers on the site last year. Six innings from our starter or seven. Then Linebrink to Dotel to Thornton to Jenks. Or let Thornton finish it off the days he's nasty. Those other guys are all hacks. These are the four guys to work with.
  4. Good post caulfield, but it's a bit depressing. Are we to assume the economy will never rebound? That the future of America consists of low employment rates and an overall horrific economy? If so I'd hate to be a 5 year old child right now. I prefer to look at it more optimistically. America will rebound and there will be baseball in the AL Central cities.
  5. I don't think he's a false idol. Except for last year (hopefully he'll continue to be weak with the glove with the Twinks) he was a great great fielder. As a Sox fan I loved the fact we had such a reliable glove at third. I personally don't think Josh is a reliable glove. We'll see. I'm never going to pour over ever stat like most of the younger crowd does. The wild stats. All I know is as a fan I loved his defense (maybe last year is a sign he is through; we'll see) and I loved his bat when he got hot. I also loved his contributions to the title. If Josh is ready to take over, great. I want him to succeed because like everybody else whether the Sox win or lose pretty much dictates my mood during the summer.
  6. Not from me. I don't blame Fields and I wish him the best. I hope he outperforms Joe by a bunch now that Joe is gone. I don't want Joe to excel just so I can say I was right. I just truly as a Sox fan fear him strolling to the plate against us. I really really do. The guy can hit. And if he is in the game, he's gonna rob CQ and Lexi of some rockets down the line. Yes I think Joe Crede is a god. So shoot me. But in no way will I root against Fields. It's his time and I want him to excel and us to win. I just truly fear Joe.
  7. Well, that guarantees us a s***ty season versus Minnesota again. He is a fricking clutch hitter. He will abuse our staff, especially our pen. What a joke. We got to face him 19 times? f***.
  8. Having Jose would be great. If the tendon is healed, it's healed. He is a proven pitcher of course. I wish he'd work faster like Mark B.
  9. Pick on some other guy. From everything we've heard and read, Thome is pure class. Maybe Steph or somebody else who knows the team can comment further. I don't like Jimmy much when he belts the ball right into the shift, but no doubt he is a stud. And it's possible he's not a steroid guy. Maybe even probable he's not, just like Big Hurt. If everybody bet you that 100 dollars you'd be broke. Of course he could have a serious injury and you'd happily win.
  10. I really like Bobby. It's easy to take closers for granted. He's been great.
  11. There's no reason for him to lie about his age at this stage. He'd actually get to the bigs quicker if he was 22, 23. 19 is probably too young.
  12. It doesn't sound like you like him "as much as the next guy." Me thinks you are exaggerating a bit on the 90 percent.
  13. My bold prediction is no soxtalk fan will post "this game is over" the moment we fall behind 3 runs in a game in the game threads. Please people, just don't do it!!! You got to believe. Games are not over til they are ova.
  14. If it's true it's great news. Any time a ballplayer is fit, it's important. Wonder if Paulie lost the belly fat. He was a little heavy last year.
  15. Throw in jail the guys who lied to Congress. Continue to try to get the names released of the guys who took Roids. Make them talk about it like a-Rod. No suspensions, no asterisks. True baseball fans know Aaron is the true HR king. We'd need too many asterisks like somebody said.
  16. We still don't have a reliable set up man to Bobby. Lexi has an awful spring defensively at ss making Oz wonder what to do. Dye has another good year since he's Jermaine f***ing Dye. Paulie starts slowly and gets booed out of the Cell. CQ becomes even more of a fan favorite and keeps our lineup scary. Lexi hits no matter how bad his D is. We contend.
  17. That's amazing how old Owens is. Proves it's tough to crack a lineup in the majors. I wouldn't discount Wise making it. Oz loves him obviously.
  18. Is this the year the f***ing Royals are added to the mix of teams we have to be concerned with winning the division?
  19. This is the year KW finds out which of our prospects can play. Owens, BA, Fields, Getz, Clayton, Lillebridge, etc. I am kind of looking forward to it. I think it'd be great if our pitchers had good years. We need more consistent relief.
  20. Sure he is. I just don't understand the Crede hate around here. The guy is one of the reasons we won it all. OK, dispute that. I'm sure somebody will say he didn't do squat. He did.
  21. Thanks. I bet they wind up dealing him and eating some salary.
  22. Dunn's the guy I always wanted to be a Sox. Now my other other guy I wish the same is McLouth.
  23. Maybe witesox fan, but magglio sure hasn't been injured since departing the sox and most people would have bet he was through as well. I hope Fields is great, but right now he is a question mark.
  24. I forgot that fathom was that down on floyd. I remember the furor over This.team.is.dead. We should have a moratorium on such posts about deadness of the team this season. Any loss and the team looks dead.
  25. Juan was great, but he had a bad approach at the plate. Hard swing ... hard miss.
