  1. Congrats to those two. Paulie goes 4-for-5 has one of those days I dream of seeing in our box scores. What the frick is going on? Is Paulie attacking the ball? Love it.
  2. Like many of you said, it's Brian's time to shine. If he wants to start in the big leagues, this is his chance. Case closed. It's up to you, Brian.
  3. Did you mean "We should have never traded FOR Swisher iin the first place? f*** Swisher. He's on a high being on the historic NY Yankees. He simply sucked as a White Sox. I don't care if he hits .400 this year. He sucked. Bye bye.
  4. Don't be worried. That is our offense. We hit a ton of home runs and live and die by them. Happy for Thome hitting the big bomb today when we needed it. Just be thrilled the pitching has been this stellar. We really could be 5-1 right now the way we pitched against the Royals. Really happy we dusted off the Twins the last 2 days. It really seemed like we were defeating an average team not some superhuman set of Piranhas. Glad their catcher was out; big deal. We've had injuries before as well - as in Carlos Quentin last year. Nice job, Sox. Hopefully the pitching will remain strong. Obviously that is huge. Today's win was great to get a rocky opening homestand back to .500.
  5. Ever notice the Twins have a lot of quotes like this? They are ornery pricks much of the time. Is Corky capable of getting a couple hits in a single game a lot? Nice to see AJ get a rest and have his replacement get 2 hits.
  6. Today we can all agree Bartolo deserves credit. Nice job.
  7. That was a big win. Going 1-4 at home to open would really really be s***ty. It'd be nice to win Sunday and go .500 on the homestand.
  8. That was a classy move by the organization. I wonder how many teams would have done that? Maybe some others, maybe not.
  9. 5-11 is a disastrous start. I realize it's early, but we need to start playing some baseball.
  10. Nobody has started a game thread yet, but looking at the pitching matchup tomorrow, can you believe we are looking at a 1-4 start with all the games played at home? My god.
  11. How come our big leaguers never have a line like Beckham's in the box score? We could use a 4-for-5 from somebody once in a while.
  12. MacDougal just has to go. Put him out of his misery, release him and let him get on with his life. Does he know how to play basketball? He's tall enough.
  13. I heard that call. I can get the Score at night here sometimes. The announcer handled it so well. Funny. We have a handful of guys on our team that probably don't deserve to be on a big league team, MacDougal leading the list.
  14. Well, this season is off to one, s***ty start. 1-3 all against teams in our division. I wish we'd opened on the road with this kind of start. This just sucks.
  15. A liner to right isn't going to fall for a base hit the way the Royals played him. It's home run or nothing. I didn't say I dislike Thome, I just said as a fan the shift is frustrating to watch. As far as the Royals, their bullpen arguably is as good or better than ours. I'm not the only person suggesting they might contend this year. Laugh all you want. They beat us 2 of 3 in our first meeting this year. We have some work to do if we are going to own them record-wise as we have the last many years. If we don't own the Royals,we're going to have to play a lot better against some other teams to have the same record as last year.
  16. The video thing is very classy. All members of our world championship team are special in their own right. Cheer him the first at bat; silence the rest of his career outside of Chicago. GO SOX. I wanted to add this Ozzie quote from the Sun Times: "Joe is very special in this house,'' Guillen said. ''In my heart, in my mind, that guy is a pro. I've got more respect for him than anybody out there because I saw him play for me when he was hurt. I saw him play for me when he couldn't even move his legs. I appreciate that. Hopefully he has a really bad weekend here and then plays better.'' Say what you want about Oz, but he doesn't lie. He thought Joe was a gamer. Cheer him once.
  17. I like Getz but it's not like he's Rickey Henderson. He's going to be Getz.
  18. Quick ramblings. ... -- To get that kind of pitching, it's embarrassing not to sweep them. -- I do think the Royals are finally going to contend. I know that contradicts my first sentence. -- I also don't like to see Bobby in non save situations. -- As a fan, I'm sick of the Thome shift. -- I hate to lose series at home. I just hate it. It almost seems like there's no sense of urgency sometimes to win games that aren't played in September. I realize I contradict myself a bit here. It's just frustrating to open 1-2 at home.
  19. That is scary that you say CQ had a bad spring as well. That would really suck if he was not the CQ of a year ago. Actually we could not survive that. Our lineup will be toast without CQ being CQ of last yar.
  20. That sounds reasonable to me. The standing ovation will forever be in his mind and in reports of the game, in the papers, sportscenter, etc. After that ... even Crede knows no Sox fan is going to root for a Twins player. I'd say standing ovation one at bat or polite applause, after that, nothing. He made the decision to play for the Twins instead of the Giants.
  21. That was boring. What an amazing sport. Just think if that was the only game you had a ticket to all year. It was so dull.
  22. That's what I thought tonight as well. Does anybody know for sure? He looked farther off the plate to me. Man, Zack really plunked him with that pitch on the shoulder. Ouch.
  23. Sorry I don't know the answer to this yet. Did the fans boo Wise a lot again tonight? Has it been really loud booing?
  24. This topic is tiresome only because it was a topic of discussion much of last season. It was addressed by Oz and KW in media interviews. They elected to bring him back after a somewhat controversial year for Walker, so it's really beating a dead horse to discuss it again this year. The offense is going to be identical to last year. Frustrating half the time; explosive when we are hitting homers and shots off the wall.
  25. This is one of those deals where the fans have spoken. Did they boo him noticeably again tonight? If so, KW and Oz, do what the fans want. Dump him. No sense having the Cell be full of negative vibes all season. We wouldn't lose much if anything if he's yanked off the team or at least out of the lineup. It's really going to be a long year if the fans boo this guy every game. Negative vibes suck. Oz and KW, make your next move. The fans hate Wise in cf. -- I do think it's sad that Wise is the scapegoat here, but "it is what it is." The fans have spoken, dump Wise.
