  1. I can't remember the exact situation, but I think the last game I watched on TV, Thornton was horses***. I know he walked at least 2 guys and pitched like a woos that night.

Great victory with the wild new lineup. My question to you though is ... Is Dotel worth the money?? The bad Dotel is quite annoying; the good Dotel is a delight.
  3. Rowand is one of those players that never should have been traded. I love Thome but was there ANY OTHER WAY we could have acquired him? Rowand was the wrong guy to trade off the title team.
  4. He's kind of like Harold was in quiet excellence.
  5. That's a pretty good philosophy to have IMO.
  6. AJ can't bunt. Yet every day in BP these guys plop down bunts. Why do they have to bunt as part of BP? Because they might be asked to bunt. I just told you in the exact same situation, Boston's swinging away resulted in a DP and we won that game. Their fans had to be saying what a moron their manager was for letting Pedroia swing away instead of bunt. I look at the big picture. Our team is in the hunt to win it despite a team with many many weaknesses. I credit the manager some for that success. He has reasons for every move he makes. He's a damn good manager. I did not like Bevington and some of the other hacks who couldn't put us in position to win a division. If a manager asks you to bunt, it should be in your repertoire to bunt. Didn't AJP play in the NL? How many bunts did he get down there. I'm sure it's in the stat books somewhere.
  7. We're not dead yet, but it sucks when the worst possible scenario entering the day did happen. Lose game one, suck in game two and see the Royals lay over in the BaggieDome. I'm not giving up, but champions don't drop two games at home this time of year on the same day. Prove me wrong, Sox.
  8. What do you want me to say about Ozzie?? I haven't studied tonight's games, but when he brings in a reliever and that reliever gets shelled as has happened like that stiff KW brought in from the Royals ... it's Oz's fault? Bulls***. If he leaves in the starter and the starter gets ripped in the sixth, it's Oz's fault. If AJP can't get a bunt down, it's Oz's fault. Yeah it's Oz's fault cause he's the manager. I look at the big picture. He has this very questionable team in the hunt in September. We have no team speed at all. We have a suspect starting rotation that has overachieved (thanks in large part I'm sure to Oz and Cooper both). We still have a shaky bullpen except for Bobby. Aside from Bobby, that bullpen for the most part has been average to a little below average. What else do you want me to say?? That one game when Ozzie bunted AJP and they walked CQ and we didn't score, everybody blamed Ozzie. The very next inning, Boston didn't bunt in the exact same situation and the guy (Pedroia? somebody) hit into a DP. Oz is good.
  9. Joe Girardi is a heck of a manager ... oh wait.
  10. How come you guys fail to answer my point about in a loss, any loss of any team, you could point to at least five instances of the losing manager being an idiot. Players win games. Talent wins games.
  11. Who is a good manager then? Leyland? He's supposed to be the messiah. LaRussa? He's a god. Give me a break. In game, Ozzie goes with the talent he has. If the talent produces he looks good; if it doesn't he sucks.
  12. As far as Oz, we'll have to agree to disagree. When his moves don't work, I don't agree with them. I still think he's great. I still say no matter who our manager is in ANY LOSS you will be able to blast that manager for anywhere between 5 and 10 moves. I like what Oz brings to the table. No sense arguing it. I mean even a 10-run loss there are at least 5 things you could second guess the manager about.
  13. Second guessing is so easy to do. The Yankees second guessed Torre all the time; now they have a clown in Girardi. Oz has gotten the most out of his talent this year. Any manager we had you can second guess 10 moves in any loss. That's a fact. He's a great manager.
  14. I do. Ozzie is as good as any except maybe Torre.
  15. I don't know what happened in the first game yet, but yes, I am an Ozzie backer. I think he's a great manager. But I am pissed that the worst possible scenario tonight has happened: KC laying over for Minnie and us dropping two.
  16. It's not easy to lose a doubleheader at home. What a joke.
  17. I just logged on. Are you kidding me? We're gonna get swept?? What's with us against good teams? I do realize we beat Angels 2 of 3 but some say they are cruising toward playoffs and not in killer mode.
  18. When I read how many doctors were to be in the room for CQ surgery ... ain't no way he'll be back this year. We'll be lucky to get him for spring training. I agree Joe is done. Sad story bout his back.
  19. Catcher: Pudge. 1b - Ernie Banks (he played in Chicago longer than Dick Allen). 2b - Fox, Sandberg tie. ss- Aparacio (Kessinger, Alan Bannister runnersup, joke on Alan). 3b - Santo (I loved Bill Melton and Robin). LF - Shoeless Joe. CF- Hack Wilson RF - Billy Williams. Righty: Ferguson Jenkins. LP - Buehrle, Kenny Holtzman second. RP - Sutter, Jenks tie. DH - Big Hurt. Apologies to Minnie, Ozzie, Paulie, Dye, Beckert, et. all.
  20. The tall lug is going to be vital in the DH tomorrow. Hope he wants to be part of a pennant winner and doesn't pitch like he did a year ago. We need him to excel vs. the Jays in the DH.
  21. Do you realize how big that DH is?? Man pennant races are scary. Let's face it, Minnie is going to sweep KC. The games probably won't be even close. KC is in the tank. They have quit on their little dictator of a manager who has done a piss poor job this season. Hope we bring our A game(s) tomorrow.
  22. That is what seems to kill us a lot, when we have to use a lot of relievers. Many times at least one of them sucks. The fewer we need to use the better.
  23. But if we get in, can't we get hot like St. Louis did to win it all?
  24. If the Royals beat the Twins in one of these games, it will be a miracle. KC is toast.
