  1. I remember when Bo played for KC he threw the ball from the warning track in lf all the way to the plate on a fly gunning out a runner from third on a sac fly. Amazing.
  2. We are on a roll right now. The crazy thing, however, is there's been no separation from Minnie of late. I love the way we're playing and we are a terrific team, but our inability to shake the pests the Twins concerns me.
  3. If it comes down to those 3 games at Minn, I don't think I could bear it. It will be crazy pressure. Man ... nailbiting time. Sports are so crazy. We got older players who you'd think would overcome the young Twins. But s*** anything can and does happen in the Twinkdome.
  4. It'd be nice to sweep em and have the same record as Minnie in recent games vs. Sea and Oak. I fully expect Minnie to beat Oakland and take 2 of 3.
  5. We have some guys having pretty damn good seasons like Quentin, AJP, Dye, Thome, Lexi with guys like Swish, Konerko and even Crede capable of going nuts in the playoffs/WS. Our pitching, however, remains iffy and could go either way. Should be interesting, but we're right there. It'd be very disappointing to not get in after being right there for so long.
  6. I'd have to go with KC cause of the ownership.
  7. Hochevar and Gordon have a shot, but they aren't looking like superstars just yet. This is Gordon's second full season.
  8. We got some tough games coming up. It'd be a shame to not outlast the Twins in this division. What's our payroll compared to theirs anyway?
  9. That's probably true Tex. Should be interesting to see when Crede returns and how much he plays right away.
  10. Great win. Richard ... wow. Oz and KW are on a roll right now. I hope the team continues to stay hot. I mean with Minnesota playing so well, we've got to keep winning. Richard stunk during his first stint, got a second chance to redeem himself and showed something. I couldn't understand the decision to give him another start. Once again I was wrong. KW is on a roll. Keep it up KW and Oz!
  11. A healthy Crede is so much better than Uribe. But Oz seems kind of perturbed so I wouldn't assume Joe will immediately take over. I guess if Joe is 100 percent healthy they might plug him back in right away.
  12. Mark pitched pretty bad last night and we still won. Keep the faith.
  13. I would agree with you. I'm just hoping Oz/KW know something we don't know and Clayton will come through. I can't figure out why they wouldn't let Broadway start again compared to Richard. You'd think Richard would fight like hell tonight to get us a win. It's a big game. If Clayton fails again I don't know what to say.
  14. I don't know about the Royals. I'm still not convinced. They have some pitching in the minors I guess and Greinke is damn good. Aside from Soria do they have any stars in the making? Butler and Gordon ... jury still out. Like somebody said they've been saying a long time KC will be improved. The bottom line is the owner is a joke and allegedly Moore is an up coming GM with some ability. We shall see. I wouldn't bet on them excelling like the Rays next year.
  15. At this point and judging from Oz's comments I can't see him taking over for Juan immediately. If Joe is smart he'll shut up and wait for the chance to play and not be a distraction. I doubt the Sox will move Joe right into the lineup but I could be wrong. On a side note, isn't it funny how the acquisition of Griffey hasn't cut Paulie's time much at all?
  16. I don't know why we didn't give Broadway another start. Pretty weird. Hope Oz and/or KW know something and Richard has a great start.
  17. I mainly liked the part of the 25 problems.
  18. Well that's true, technically, Paint It, but lotsa players waste a lotta time on superstition. So I say we need an anti-hex on this one.
  19. I skimmed the thread after looking at the box score late tonight and was impressed. Not much jumping off the ledge early with the exception of some Mark B bashing which he sorta deserved. Nobody had given up on the game, however, after one inning. Nice.
  20. You Ed Walsh are a great fan to pull those names out of the hat. WOW! A lot of those guys were kinda likeable, especially Naha, Lamp and Warren Newson.
  21. I would get rid of this post or just have everybody reverse jinx it by telling this guy he's full of s*** and the Twins are locks to win it. Stupid post. This race ain't OVA.
  22. I like Crede, but this is good stuff again from Oz in tonight's story. No other managers talk like the Sox's Oz. I think it's refreshing. Crede makes a lot of money and stands to make a bundle in the offseason if some team is willing to risk signing him to a multi-year deal. I don't see how a team could sign Joe to more than a year deal with his back issue(s). When asked by reporters about Joe, Oz could have just given some boring comment like Trey Hillman would here in KC. Or he could come up with this gem. I thought another Ozism was worth its own thread.
  23. Wow somebody loves the 60s, though Fletcher was 80s right? An obscure Sox favorite? I'd say JC Martin to be different, but he wasn't much of a hitter. I'd go back to 77 as well and pick our ss Alan Bannister for that one year. He hit the ball hard as did all those guys. Maybe Jim Spencer off that team. He hit some shots. I'd never pick Jerry Dysbinski (sp) cause of his baserunning blunder that may have cost us a WS title. We'd have won Game Five with Hoyt for sure and probably would have gone all the way.
  24. That's awesome dad remembers it too. One thing about the Allen era is the crowds were pretty small weren't they? I think he played during the days they had the bad astroturf infield and grass outfield. That was ridiculous. That wikpedia note about him retiring cause he didn't like the trade to Atlanta was wild as well.
