  1. I don't know why we didn't give Broadway another start. Pretty weird. Hope Oz and/or KW know something and Richard has a great start.
  2. I mainly liked the part of the 25 problems.
  3. Well that's true, technically, Paint It, but lotsa players waste a lotta time on superstition. So I say we need an anti-hex on this one.
  4. I skimmed the thread after looking at the box score late tonight and was impressed. Not much jumping off the ledge early with the exception of some Mark B bashing which he sorta deserved. Nobody had given up on the game, however, after one inning. Nice.
  5. You Ed Walsh are a great fan to pull those names out of the hat. WOW! A lot of those guys were kinda likeable, especially Naha, Lamp and Warren Newson.
  6. I would get rid of this post or just have everybody reverse jinx it by telling this guy he's full of s*** and the Twins are locks to win it. Stupid post. This race ain't OVA.
  7. I like Crede, but this is good stuff again from Oz in tonight's story. No other managers talk like the Sox's Oz. I think it's refreshing. Crede makes a lot of money and stands to make a bundle in the offseason if some team is willing to risk signing him to a multi-year deal. I don't see how a team could sign Joe to more than a year deal with his back issue(s). When asked by reporters about Joe, Oz could have just given some boring comment like Trey Hillman would here in KC. Or he could come up with this gem. I thought another Ozism was worth its own thread.
  8. Wow somebody loves the 60s, though Fletcher was 80s right? An obscure Sox favorite? I'd say JC Martin to be different, but he wasn't much of a hitter. I'd go back to 77 as well and pick our ss Alan Bannister for that one year. He hit the ball hard as did all those guys. Maybe Jim Spencer off that team. He hit some shots. I'd never pick Jerry Dysbinski (sp) cause of his baserunning blunder that may have cost us a WS title. We'd have won Game Five with Hoyt for sure and probably would have gone all the way.
  9. That's awesome dad remembers it too. One thing about the Allen era is the crowds were pretty small weren't they? I think he played during the days they had the bad astroturf infield and grass outfield. That was ridiculous. That wikpedia note about him retiring cause he didn't like the trade to Atlanta was wild as well.
  10. Great post about Allen's line drive being right over the pitcher's head and carrying for a homer. I bet that pitcher still has nightmares as he'd probably be dead if the liner hit him. Can you imagine Allen with an aluminum bat? Pitchers would die.
  11. You can say that again.
  12. I don't even know what WSI is ... apparently that's a good thing for me.
  13. Yeah, you can never be mad at winning a series. 2 of 3 is fine. It just sucks Minnie had no trouble sweeping Seattle. I just hope our guys play with a wild intensity the rest of the way because with Minnesota staying firm in the race every game is so important now.
  14. The game threads are negative, but so what? It's kind of funny to see people freak out over every play in a game. One person had the Sox getting swept by Oakland early in Game One. Last I looked we won 2 of 3. I wish people would make more new threads. It does seem sometimes if somebody creates a new thread they get ripped a lot. But who cares? It's still good discussion. I just think people shouldn't discourage people from starting new threads. People should also remember just because they have a strong opinion, some others might disagree with their opinion. Case in point ... -- I like Paulie, many don't. Difference of opinion. -- I don't like Swish much of the time. Many like him a lot. Difference of opinion. -- I think Crede is great. Many disagree. Difference of opinion. -- Generally I dislike most of our relievers except Bobby and Thornton of late. Difference of opinion. It's fun to debate differences of opinion, not just jump somebody for them.
  15. If you were told flat out the Sox cannot make the WS what teams would you prefer getting in the WS? I'd pick the Dodgers in the NL (for Torre getting even with Yankees) and Rays in AL. I might take the Twins except for the dome. I hate that f***ing dome.
  16. Exactly. This team is not a bad team. We've had a lot of frustrating losses. We are not a bad team. If we could squeak into the playoffs and Mark and Vas get hot, we in fact could be a successful postseason team. IF ...
  17. Interleague sucks. At least the team will have a short "road trip" to Milwaukee, though the Brewers are pretty damn good and are spending money.
  18. It worked. Maybe you should never watch again. Kidding. I don't understand the stress thing. How come it's stressful. It's just a game. Enjoy. The worst thing that can happen is we suck and lose. Enjoy your team. s***, winter is coming and winter SUCKS. Any game is to be cherished IMO.
  19. I said Waivers One, Broadway 2. I don't understand why they sent him down. s***, he went 5 innings, gave up 2 runs. Not bad.
  20. No offense, but Oakland sucks. I'm happy we won but at this stage of the year we need to win this series. I don't care much about our past in Oakland, we gotta win this series.
  21. Boy you are right. I remember being very disappointed at the end of that season, but it was so much fun. It goes down as one of the best summers of my life.
  22. That's a pretty good quote from Coop. I vote to not rush him, but if the Sox deem him ready, bring him on.
  23. That's wild he retired at the age of 32. More health problems for a good pitcher. I wonder what he's been doing the last few years? Counting his money, playing golf everyday or coaching somewhere?
  24. Our schedule has been pretty easy since Boston. Too bad we blew last night's game. At least we won today despite playing so-so ball. Great pitching though. Thanks Seattle for rolling over and dying in Minnie. It's pretty obvious you are gonna get swept. Thanks for the help, M's.
  25. Sweet. We'll still be tied with Twins. good job winning a game we coulda lost considering the 11 hits and just 2 runs.
