  1. Boston is the best. I just hope we can hold off Minnie and take our chances of getting hot in the postseason. Those first two playoff games are crazy. Play a night game, then a day game and you are 2 games into the series before you know what hit you.
  2. We just have to be up 2 or 3 heading into Minnesota. We have to be able to withstand a possible sweep. If we are tied with them or one down entering the series and they sweep, the season is OVA.
  3. Don't mean to sound like a dick, but this was a bad loss. Up 2-0 in the series and 2-0 in the game, we had a great opportunity to gain a game on the pests from Minnesota. But on the other hand ... we won two of three from the best team in baseball. We won two of three from the best team in baseball. I just hate losing the 2-0 lead when we had a chance for a monumental victory this late in the season in a home game. Still we won 2 of 3 from the best team in baseball. Not bad.
  4. Wow! We win 10-2; they win 10-2. My god the Twins go home and kick some butt after that lousy road trip of theirs. To all the Paulie bashers ... do you feel a little stupid right now? Do you admit he's been on a nice roll of late? Congrats Paulie on getting the BA up to .245. Not bad for somebody many fans wanted flushed down the drain. Go SOX!!!
  5. I saw the ESPN story and it listed something like 4 doctors doing the surgery. And he'll be out a couple weeks. Sure he will. No way. He gone.
  6. If he punched a locker ... geez that is so f***ing stupid. Hit the locker with your bat and pay the damages you dumbass. If he didn't punch a locker, then I feel sorry for CQ. If he did, he should be fined.
  7. Yup, he's getting a break cause he's got a break in the wrist. Which breaks my spirit. The veteran hitters better pick it up. That's you, Griffey.
  8. I guess I just don't care if we're expected to win or not. We just lost the best player in the league. I don't care if expectations are lowered. I could see us going into a big funk without him. The guy is MVP and he's gone.
  9. At least we have a chance now. But will Weaver go tomorrow? Then that game is the automatic loss unless we match him pitch for pitch and eke out a win late.
  10. I disagree completely. How can having one of the best hitters league be out of the lineup make the games more enjoyable to watch? Now we are considerably weakened. Fans in Minnesota have to be celebrating wildly. This is a huge loss and no way will he be back this season. A broken wrist? They should say he's gone for the year. The odds of us winning now are s***. This sucks.
  11. He was a great White Sox. Has had a darn good career.
  12. I just read that he's out til Monday. Yuk. Read Mark Gonzales' fine copy and weep: Win and survive. That’s the White Sox’s theme for the remaining 23 games this season after a patchwork lineup and the pitching of Javier Vazquez and Bobby Jenks produced a 4-2 victory over the Indians on Wednesday and kept them in first place in the American League Central. The Sox’s task becomes even tougher with the strong possibility that slugger Carlos Quentin probably won’t be available until at least next week’s Toronto series—and maybe much longer. “That’s our hope,” manager Ozzie Guillen said of a return Monday by Quentin, who has 36 homers but has been hampered by a sore right forearm near his wrist. Quentin left quickly after the game and was unavailable for comment. The Sox displayed a sampling of the future without Quentin, Joe Crede (lower back stiffness) and A.J. Pierzynski and Jim Thome, each of whom got a break from the lineup.
  13. I would agree with that take. Completely. Thanks Toronto! Just lose to us when we play you next, please.
  14. I would disagree. I will not be upset if we move both after the season, but the jury is still out on both. We are fighting for a pennant. They can put us over the top, or help put us over the top the next 3 weeks. Neither of them have "sucked" they haven't been so bad you can use the "suck" word on them. I'm not a big fan of either but they haven't totally "sucked."
  15. Nice to win after scuffling of late. 4-6 road trip wasn't great but didn't bury us. We need to compete every day.
  16. Horrible at bat. Will we hang on with our crazy pen. Thornton pitched lousy last inning.
  17. I wonder if he should have taken the whole year off. Maybe nothing would have helped. If you have back surgery and play baseball, how can it not flare again? You are swinging the bat at BP all the time, bending all the time. I'd love to see a study on guys who have back surgery and continue playing baseball and football. How it holds up.
  18. I wonder if the guys from Japan are like the Cubans and older than they claim to be.
  19. I love Hurt, but he's done. Does he realize it is the question. I can't see anybody signing him. He can't run and he's not blasting home runs at an alarming rate anymore.
  20. Is there any way Cleve could win the division?

This pertains to Tues night's loss. Oz in the Tribune on our playing like zombies. ... Guillen found no solace that the Sox remained tied for first place with Minnesota despite losing for the fifth time in their past six games. ”I’m concerned more about the guys giving better energy and seeing a better club on the field,“ Guillen said. ”It seems like we’re tired, it seems like we’re dead. I don’t see the energy. I don’t see the grinder (mentality). I don’t see a lot of things we’re missing now. “... There’s something missing. And we have to find it right away. If we continue to play like that, it’s not going to be easy.”
  22. I don't know about that, but I think many of us will then be hoping for some major changes, even recognizing it's always a pretty good year when you are in the race in September. I also feel bad for doubting our chances, but man to lose five of six this time of year. It's unfortunate to say the least. We have a lot of veterans who should really want to be playing in the postseason THIS YEAR. Hope they can right the ship. Sixteen over .500 is a damn good record, but we are such a Jeckyll-Hyde team it's maddening to me at least.
  23. OM god. MacDougal is back on the team. He's our fricking bad luck charm!!! Get rid of him.
  24. I just got back from a trip to Canada and after not following the Sox closely all weekend I'm suddenly feeling a panic attack concerning the team. Tell me what's gonna happen the rest of the way. Are the Sox and Minnesota going to be within a game or so of each other all frickin month? Are we going to tank the next two to Cleveland get swept at home by the Angels and be out of it quickly? Or are we going to storm through the month like a tank and win the division by four games? What's gonna happen???
  25. I may go depending on work schedule and if they are important games. The stadium is dumpy right now with the construction. There will only be 15,000 fans at the games. I do think the renovations will really help the park. Right now it's a construction zone. Prior to that you rarely heard complaints about Kauffman Stadium. People like it.
