Loaiza knows a winner when he sees one
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) Well you said even when he was going good he was putting a lot of men on base and that wasn't true. He was putting guys on base, but his WHIP was low because no one can touch him when he's throwing his forkball and fastball for a strike consistently. Hell he could walk a ton of guys and still have a low WHIP because his stuff is just that damn good. I know for a while there he had one of the lowest BA against in the majors. Too bad he doesn't use it effectively consistently.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Man, 2 years ago he had 35 home runs and 117 RBI's. Today he's released. That is an amazingly rapid collapse. Getting off the juice will do that to you.

Loaiza knows a winner when he sees one
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Yes I saw Contreras's last start, he hasn't been good 3 of his last 4 starts but before that he was literally awesome. Esteban's numbers aren't to much better then Jose and he plays in the nl and plays at RFK which is a pitchers park. Bring him to the al and have him pitch at the cell and his era is probably around where it was last year, jmo. I agree, I'd rather have Jose. However, he needs to get his confidence back and take the sign from AJ and throw the damn ball. It seems Duque and Contreras are the two guys who have a hard time listening to AJ's game-calling and those are the two guys who routinely get into trouble. If I am Ozzie I tell both of these guys to never shake off AJ, throw the ball and shut the f*** up. (End of rant.)

GAME THREAD 7-3-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Man, Pods has really become a platoon player. It's like he doesn't even start 3 games in a row anymore. He doesn't play a lot versus lefties. However, I don't mind because I'd love to have him fresh and still running down the stretch.

Loaiza knows a winner when he sees one
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Just have Kevin Walker sign it, that way mine will be the 2nd best on the jersey Probably one of the few I wouldn't let sign it, that's for damn sure. I'll probably just keep getting it signed until it can't handle anymore. I still need Politte, Marte, Shingo, Hermanson, Uribe, Ozuna, Garcia, El Duque, B-Mac and Contreras among others.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Next tailgate I'll sign it for you too Boz...than it will be ready for the frame Talk about quick value depreciation. That'd be a prime example.

QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) How about that hat!!! Good for signing but not for wearing!! I loved when he was going to the dugout and would tip his cap! Class act! Not my hat, I got the jersey signed. As of now, there's about 28 signatures on it. At last check here was the list of who's signed "The Jersey": - Thomas, Konerko, Podsednik, Dye, Pierzynski, Crede, Harris, Rowand, Dransfeldt, Reed, Borchard, Guillen, Kusnyer, Baines, Cora, Adkins, Buehrle, Garland, Gload, Everett, Wunsch, Sanders, Burke, Wright, Valentin, Loaiza, Olivo, Raines. Still got some work to do before framing it.

Loaiza knows a winner when he sees one
QUOTE(My Left White Sock @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) I wouldn't mind having Loaiza in the four spot instead of Contreras. I still don't get that deal, taking on a guy with no record of success and a big contract. They (NYY) are paying a portion of the deal I believe. Plus Loaiza looked horrible last year, was going to be a FA and Kenny figured he's take Jose based on his stuff and the possibility that he would thrive outside of the NY spotlight.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Boz told me he hasn't showered since that photo was taken. He didn't want to lose the ora of Elo But Elo's shirt = total ugliness...its what he uses to scare the opponents. Hell there's a blast from the past, thanks for digging that up!

All Encompassing All Star Game Thread
QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Buehrle will be in his, I'm guessing, his 5th game. This will be his second time. He was also selected in 2002 when the game was in Milwaukee, where he gave up a run.

All Encompassing All Star Game Thread
My prediction: Buehrle and Garland are the two selections from the Sox. I wish Pods could make it, but he seems like a long shot. Hermy and Konerko are possibilities as well. I surely hope we have more than two though.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Did you watch any of the high school all-star games? He hit 6 3's in the McDonald's All-American game. Guys that can't shoot don't make 6 in one game. Huge amount of defense and intensity were shown in that game. Anything that happens in the McDonald's game means absolutely nothing. Obviously there is a reason for Green's freefall.- NBA Draft Thread
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) The clippers are even bigger f***ing retards than i thought. Figured they'd go big, they don't need Green. I think teams are backing away from Green because he's not that great of a shooter. Not every high school player taken early turns out to be a stud.- NBA Draft Thread
Clippers may not take Green, a lot depends on what they wanna do with Simmons and Maggette.- NBA Draft Thread
