once again, I'm late on developments here on the boards (I was at the Fire game yesterday, as press - great game BTW, they won), but this was something that was bound to happen. The unfortunate part to all this isn't that BMR, Clu and CWSOX have been banned, it is that jason has quit, which he has all the reason to because, frankly, if I was in charge of this board, I would've quit months ago. This is a great board, but the crap a certain few have pullled is just pathetic, and because of this, Jason, who has busted his ASS on this board since we've started it and has had a great amount of patience in doing so, has quit. take care jason. you did a great job, and because of that, I respect your decision.

why do people react to this as if this is the reason the Cubs lost? like fan interference has never happened in the game or like it was a given Alou would catch the ball, or it was a given Prior wouldn't continue to give up hits after that, or it was a given the Marlins hot bats wouldn't carry over to the ninth.
-
please, there is no f***ing curse and I get sick everytime I hear about it. it has nothing to do with a curse, they just simply, like us, haven't won it all in a very long time. the curse didn't make that guy reach out to catch the ball. why? because 90% of fans would've done the samething and that is something that happens a lot in baseball. the curse didn't make Gonzalez make that error or ANYONE from making an error. errors and fan interference happens for every team in baseball and it happens all season long. it is as simple as that. the Cubs lost because the Cubs lost, not because of anything else. this billy goat curse makes me f***ing sick because one curses are bulls*** and two this puts the Cubs in a win-win situation, because if they lose it is because of the curse and if they win it is because they were such a good team that they overcame the curse. one minute they are talking about DUSTINY and how Carey and Santo are leading them and the next they are talking curse. it is all bulls***.

people are gonna make Martinez to be the bad guy on this one when Zimmer, at least it appeared, was the guy who attacked him, and if the case, Martinez had every right to do that. I don't care how old Zimmer is either (72), you don't get special treatment. You want to swing at someone you should expect them to defend themselves. however, Martinez yelling at Posada and saying, or at least it looked as though he was saying, that he's gonna hit him in the head isn't right either.

it was chisox.com before MLB took it over and put them under their network.

I would love to drop this stuff BMR, but for me it seems as though this has been an issue that we've dropped a few times already.
-
we aren't gonna close threads or delete posts, but if someone continually acts like a prick, we'll have to deal with that poster in time. it is freedom of speech, and like you said, no freedom to slander.
-
we aren't doing this because we are control or power freaks/geeks, we are doing this because dickheads like you are taking things way too f***ing far. intentionally and deliberately knocking someone down because of their way of life, not with the intent to joke, but to simply be a prick is just flat out wrong and immoral. this has nothing to do with power, it has to do with morals and respect. anyone on this board can tell me or anyone to go f*** themselves and they know we won't give a rats ass, but what you have said is just wrong.
-
Unfortunately, it had to come to this. We didn't want to do it, but some have taken the freedom a little too far and have wrongfully and purposely ripped some board members because of their sexulal prefrences. And even though I'm all for freedom of speech and saying whatever the hell you want, I could only let someone do it for so long. this doesn't in anyway mean we are gonna ban people left and right and be biased in doing so, all this means is that if you continually criticize someone because of their color, religion or sexulality, you leave us no choice but to ban you, which is something we NEVER wanted this board to lead to. Once again, this doesn't stop you from speaking your mind. You can tell anyone on here, including mods, to f*** off or whatever words you'd like to use, but please don't, as jason said, don't attack people based on their race, religion or sexuality.

keep in mind WSI has been around twice as long as us and was really the first White Sox site outside of the official one, while we were the 4th or 5th one, so they had a significant head start. we were in ESPN the Magazine and I have no idea where the link is to it. All I have is the magazine itself. the site has been mentioned a few times on local radio stations if that counts as popularity.
-
I don't think what he said was racism and anyone who thinks so is dumb, but he didn't back up his statement in anyway.
-
not sure what you meant by that BMR, but don't in anyway throw us in the same category as WSI because despite you being, at times, an ignorant prick over the past few months, we haven't deleted posts or banned you as we feel people can speak their minds here as long as the respect is there in end. but it seems as though, based on past posts, you have a problem with gays and aren't afraid to point that out time and time again. you can say what you want, just be a bit respectfull, that is, as Murcie has said, all we ask for - decency. we spend money on these boards, people like jason have busted their ass, we don't make money and we don't delete, ban or filter anything the posters say. all we ask is for some decency in what you post.
-
I consider myself the owner of these boards BMR, as do other mods, so I tend to look around to see what is being posted. I don't read stuff based on if I like it or not.

it doesn't offend me because I'm not gay, and even if i were, I wouldn't be offended. And I did find it funny that you couldn't press "no", but at the same time, the way it was being presented was as if being gay was wrong. that is just my opinion, let's end the conversation.
-
that is pretty ignorant. even though this board is off-topic, it isn't for posts that are racially motivated or imply a problem with being gay. I'm in-between on whether I should delete this or not. either way, don't make posts like this again.

this is the problem with having a "closer". any other reliever would've been pulled in that situation, but a closer such as Foulke is left in even though he wasn't throwing good at all, and in my opinion (not sure what the numbers are), doesn't matchup with Ortiz. Foulke needs both his fastball and changeup to work at anytime in order for him to be effective, when one is gone, he is gone as he has no backup plan. this by the way isn't criticism towards Foulke as he is a very good reliever, but the whole closer role is stupid to me.

last time I checked, we've been serious about winning. the results of course is another story.

I watched for some time, hoping one team or pitcher would do something productive. sad thing is people will talk about Woods game as if he pitched a masterpiece, when he did anything but.
-
this game is terrible, neither team should deserve to win. both pitchers have looked pretty bad, and both offense's have looked worst. Cubs had chance after chance to score, yet had to wait for an error and hit by Wood to do it. And the Braves? They are doing the one thing you can't do against Wood, that is swing. 70% of his strikes are balls, but thanks to the Braves offense, he's getting away with it. I'm glad I'm no longer watching it.

IF we don't sign Gordon, I'd bring back Sullivan, sign Wunsch and go and get another righty (Hawkins? Grimsley?). Hawkins teaming up with Marte would be unbelievable. IF Gordon is asking for $6 mil and WANTS to be the closer -- a role I personally hate -- I'd look elsewhere, because I think we can easily get another righty like Gordon for $3 mil.
-
if the Sox want to keep their pitching staff, this is how much it will cost (on the high end, rounding up or down). Colon - $11 mil Buehrle - $3 mil Loaiza - $4 mil Garland - 500K (?) Schoeneweis - $1 mil Gordon - $6 mil (he is looking for closer money, although I think that would be too much for him) Marte - 500K (he should get a deal worked out) Koch - $6.5 mil Wunsch - $1 mil Sullivan - $3 mil Wright-500K that right there is $36.5 million, we are looking at a $60 mil payroll roughly (on the high end). with that, we may have to go with this type of offense: Aaron Miles (Harris?), 2B Aaron Rowand (Harris/Borchard/Reed?), CF Carlos Lee, LF Frank Thomas, 1B Carl Everett, RF Joe Crede, 3B Ross Gload (Daubach?), 1B Miguel Olivo, C Tony Graffanino (shortstop acquired in a trade for Ordonez), SS that right there is roughly $23 mil only way to keep Ordonez is if Thomas opts for free agency and Everett and/or Sullivan, and/or Gordon are left unsigned. I wouldn't exactly mind that offense, IF we have the right manager to go with it, but I'm sure many would be a bit disappointed at its lack of fire power. but it does have much improved speed, energy, fundamentals, and to an extent, defense, skills. gonna be a rough and interesting off-season.
-
why don't we trade Magglio Ordonez, Paul Konerko and $3 mil to the Dodgers? right now, they have one outfielder (Green) and no first-baseman (McGriff is retiring), with Burnitz and Jordon having options that they would be stupid to pickup. obviously we will have to get a couple strong, young players for Ordonez, maybe even take on one of their medium-priced players. I'd hate to lose Ordonez, but if this team is going to want to focus pitching, along with keeping guys like Everett and Lee, Ordonez and his $14 mil will have to go. how is that Izutris kid they got? I haven't really seen him play so I can't comment on him, but he is a pretty good young shortstop, no? at least i hear he has some defense nad speed to him. if that is the case, I wouldn't mind getting him as the one of the players in return.

the problem with Manuel wasn't that he was laidback, the problem with him is that he was never in a state of urgency. he always went with the notion that there was still time left and the team would come together at some point. a screamer won't do a thing for this team, they just need a good solid manager, laidback or whatever, someone who can make the right decisions, get respect and hustle from the players and drill into each players heads the importance of a team effort - getting things done from the get go.

Bartolo offered "Richest Contract offer" ever
Molto replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
most likely. they are the same people who doubt the least bit of potential upside that could occur with the Sox. whether it is signing a player or trading for a player, nothing will ever happen. -
pretending everything is great with the Sox, in my opinion, is just as stupid as being negative at everything. there are some people who are so confident that this team will never win anything. they -- the Sox -- say they are gonna try to sign Colon, yet many still believe they are full of s*** and won't sign him. hell, there were people here who were confident the Sox were never going to get Colon in the first place via trade, yet they did. there were people who said the season was over after the first month of the season -- granted, they didn't make the playoffs -- but they made it interesting. there were people who didn't think the Sox would go all out before the trade deadline and pull a deal for not just Roberto Alomar, and not just Carl Everett, but for guys like Schoeneweis and Sullivan too. like KW or not, like the Sox or not, they've proven many skeptical Sox fans wrong at one time or another. nothing wrong to doubt, as I find it hard for anyone to go and assume things will be grand, but don't think as if there isn't a chance in hell in whatever you feel won't happen. I'm not talking to you SoxFest, just sox fans in general ... some of them, at least.
