QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) What do you mean Reed won't live up to his potential?? I think Reed right now is doing exactly what a lot of us expected him to do, Reed's a good solid player. People were praising him like he was the next Magglio or Pods. They were giving him credit as an allstar too.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) What the Yanks past has to do with us trading away the farm now, like they did over the past 2 years, I fail to see. No more to my comments. I see no need to play the 2 year old tap dance game. Yet you consistently jump on me in threads...well thats just...wonderful Steff.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) And end up in the position the Yanks are in.. :rolly It's a good thing the "old timers" don't run the show. If you got a few guys that are low cost like Cintron, then how the hell could you turn into the Yankees?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Reed is good though, that trade was a steal for the Sox cause Freddy is a top of the line starter and you have to realize all the stars in this league were once minor leaguers, you just don't trade minor leaguers to trade them, if a deal makes sense then hell yeah you don't hold back but just cause they haven't proven anything doens't mean they won't in the future. And that is what I've been saying. If the right deal comes about, then you pull the trigger. Reed was never going to live up to be that good. Any prospect has got a shot, but I'd want to trade them for pieces to win often, and win now.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Great insight. You know, I saw you lurking this thread, and I knew you were going to give me some bulls***. Way to go Steff, way to f***ing go... :finger

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) I think Adkins should come up. He has proven himself able to pitch in the majors. Hell, bring Baj and Adkins up, and try to get rid of Vizcaino. He is absolutely brutal. Agreed. I only want him up here because he was decent in our bullpen for a year last year. But seriously, we all got hung up on Royce Ring, Kris Honel, Joe Blow, Mike Morse and Jeremy Reed. They will never live up to the numbers they put down at the minor league level. I will never see Jeremy Reed be that good. And for the old timers, they want to win. They don't give a flying f*** about guys at AAA...wouldn't you rather win a series and deal some prospects to get the pieces that are essential to put yourself over the top.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) If it weren't for some of the youth of this organization (Buehrle, Garland, etc) the Sox wouldn't of ever been in this position. Nothing wrong with youth and there is absolutely no reason to knock on Baj like some have on here. The guy has kicked absolute ass in the minors ever since recovering from surgery. There is no board bias in his numbers, they are real. I'm not saying he'll be great, but he'll be a quality reliever in the majors. I'm also not calling for him to be up, but Beastly, lets not talk about how bad the guy is after 10 innings in the majors last year. Greg Maddux wasn't stellar his 1st 10 innings, most guys aren't. And I do give a crap about the future of the organization. Top prospects can either come up and help a club on the field or they can be dealt for other assets that can help a team potentially go the distance. Deal them all, I don't want them here...

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Why is this board so enamored with BAJ. Why isn't every scout in the country looking at this guy? Why doesn't anyone want to trade for him? Its because he is not good enough for the majors.Again its my opinion but outside of this board, nobody in the country cares about this guy. Quickman is right guys. He's not that great, even to be in the majors. And thats bulls*** to say AAA isn't a pitchers park, because I saw some very s***ty numbers at AA for Bajenaru. People on this board could give a less f*** about the youth of our organization and want to win now. World Series...just in their lifetime, some people might not be alive to see the Sox in the fall classic in the next 10 years or so. Win. Or die trying. Edit: I was reading the paper wrong. The guy I am mentioning should be Bullard.

My favorite part of the film is where that catcher tags both of the guys out...and what I love is that they show everyone in it, not just the Sox guys... And they left out that f***er Albert Belle
-
Well, we didn't execute today, lets go get em tomorrow. If I were the Sox, I'd use the Ozzie Guillen method and come back tomorrow. Garland on the hill against Prior, and I hope we hit that f***er. I hate the Cubs, lets win the season series! Contreras and Hernandez are pissing me off as of late, I'm running out of patience with Orlando, you can't go on the DL every 20 some days. Stretch it out, stop being a baby and pitch, I want to win, and I want to win now.
-
If we win this, I'm going to buy Quickman and JimH beers and footlong hot dogs...this game today is rediculous. They better play better tomorrow, I'm going to the game! Lets go White Sox!!!

Last player in MLB you would get in a fight with..
The Beast replied to rangercal's topic in The Diamond Club
Chone Figgins and David Eckstein... Nah, I wouldn't want to fight with Carl Everett, he looks like he'd want to eat me and then crush my corpse and feed it to a dinosaur. -
Yeah, I saw his ERA and I was like, oh great...

I'm going to take a few hits for this. I'm not sure if McCarthy is all what he's made out to be. He's not the next All-Star pitcher like everyone wants to think. I'd think it would be very smart to trade him and Crede...and get someone like a Chavez and a Zito. I just think for the older fans, they want to win now, and not later. And yes, in the stretch run, McCarthy could be good, but I think you could build this team up with a few trades.

I actually like Coldplay. Always have been a fan. Got their single 'Speed of Sound' from my work at the radio station. I have my own shows, so its fun to play the single. I also like "Clocks", "Yellow", and "Trouble".

Well, not clueless, but I think I saw something tonight.. Sitting with my friend Cassie at the game, I pointed out the kiss cam to her. Surely enough, a woman that looked like soxtalk's very own Steff was kissed by her husband. Amusing, to say the least.

The most embarassing CD I have ever owned is Lou Bega with 'mambo no. 5'

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Thank you Magellan. Why start a thread about this and furthermore, why start it in PHF? I, too, am an IHSA umpire and this is common knowledge. I believe the term you are looking for is "framing." You are taught not to fall victim to "framing," and I guarntee you the umpires at the professional level wouldn't be were they are today if they consistantly fell victim to this "art." There is nothing wrong with it and it does work from time to time, but c'mon. No thread. I, as well, am an IHSA Umpire. I call a wide strike zone to get the game moving. However, this is different in the major leagues. This is their job. Their profession of choice. And they are the best of the best of what they do. Umpiring School has rigorous training. Nevertheless, as I teach my Umpires (I'm an Umpire Supervisor) that only the umpire has the final say in his calls. The fans mean nothing. Thus is the case here. I think, overall that the umpires have been good this year. You get some calls, and you don't get some calls. Its how it has always been.

I'd put it in the recycling bin first. Then, I'd go set program access and defaults. Then I'd add the new files, which should give you a brand spankin new Windows Media Player. I hate real player, that thing blows too. What I like the most is Dell Juke Box by Musicmatch..

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) In his last 6.1 innings , he has allowed 8 runs, 5 earned and has suffered 2 losses. That's Shingoesque. You know, your Shingoesque. And all of you guys love to b**** and rat a guy outta town over one blown save. No one ever said winning was a pretty thing, winning ugly is sweet.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) 2 bad outings but don't let the truth get in the way of a good rant... Whatever. You can't win em all, especially if they are 1 run ball games and Jerry Manuel executed ball games. Aka not fundamentally played ballgames.
-
I would say this though, that I'd want to acquire another bullpen arm for the post season by the deadline. A nice right handed middle relief pitcher would be beneficial to our ball club. I don't know who is available, but it'd be some very good insurance down the road.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) He had an era of 1 and he was 15 for 15 in saves...Yea, you saw it coming. Its 1 bad outing, I really think its pathetic Jeckle is all worried about it. You don't win all 1 run ball games, its not going to happen. 1 blown save out of 16 chances. Thats .0625 of 1.00. Not bad at all. Even the best closers in the league will have blown saves, remember that.
