  1. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) .........and you're drunk every day i between. What are you between???
  2. LOL!!! That's actually kind of funny! Living in the area, you would think the rest of the world had been put on hold and that there was nothing else on TV! But as it turns out, re-runs of Benny Hill might actually get more viewers. LOL!!!
  3. Actually it was the flooding of the market that killed the "arena rock"/"big hair'/pseudo-Glam bands. Once bands like Wildside were signed and good bands like Kik Tracee were forced to change their sounds, and a million clones of Bon Jovi and Poison were signed, it was all over. Same thing that eventually became of Grunge. Once a style, no matter how respected, gets flooded into the market, it will die. It has happened now to Nu Metal and the new Emo Punk bands. Though Jani lane talks about walking into his record company, standing in the waiting room, and there where once hung a HUGE picture of Warrants "Dirty Rotten" album cover was now a HUGE picture of Alice In Chains "Facelift" and he says "at that moment I knew the music scene was about to change, and we were doomed".
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Originally, I think it was actually going to be a documentary of sorts on Priest, but Halford and company nixed it. I may be wrong. Not a documentary, but done more faithful to what really happened. KK and Glenn were on board as consultants for a bit of time, but then bailed as they didn't like what was going on with it.
  5. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) It's like the reality version of rockstar. Ummmm, the reality version of Rockstar is called Judas Priest, which is what the movie was based on.
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Yeah, I suppose you're right. He's just shyed away from the public after getting shafted as bad as he did. Shut-in may be going a bit far. There is some SERIOUS bad blood though between him and his fellow bandmates though...it leaks out in interviews in a serious way. But, you have to admit the guy went up to his home in the hills of SF and hasn't been seen much since. Yeah, but look at how the media is reacting to the Sox using the song. They are being laughed at. Imagine yourself in his position. Once you ruled the world, sold out stadiums all over the world for years. Then one day, after your band falls apart and your solo career fails, you suddenly become a punchline. The man was damn near a God in the late 70's/early 80's. Everything he did turned to platinum. "Oh Serry" was a HUGE hit, and not a terrible song in all honesty, and now VH1, the station that is supposed to treat the old classic bands with respect, has it on a "list show" mocking your vocal performance on it. I understand 100% why the guy would vanish. He shows up now, because here is a baseball team (he is a baseball fan) using it as a "build up" song. It started as a joke, sure, but now you have AJ and the team defending it. I would be surprised if he didn't do it at a celebration in Chicago. He will be there, that is almost for sure.
  7. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) IIRC, sometime in the mid 90's Steve Perry went solo and the group replaced him with a guy that looked and sounded almost exactly like him. He's still with them.
  8. He won't play with Journey for sure, but he still has contacts, and as was pointed out earlier here, there are TONS of cover/tribute bands out there to help. Not so sure as to how much of a "shut-in" he has become, as much as a seriously pissed off guy.
  9. Ya know, people were saying they should have played at some point during the series. But I have a crisp $10 to bet that if the Sox win it all, we will see Perry perform at the celebration.
  10. Might want to start a list also: Yes, we know the National Media is biased. Yes...we've seen those pictures of AJ and Paulie...thanks...do you have any nude pictures of your wife? (everybody else do the follow-up line...please...)
  11. OH MY GOD!!! WITHIN A FEW DAYS I MIGHT GET TO CELEBRATE THE WHITE SOX AND JOHNNY B.'S RETURN!?! THIS IS FRIGGIN' HEAVEN!!! I have seriously been dying for this day to come about since he left! Oh man!!! He just needs to steal Buzz from Dahl now! I'm sure if things work well for Johnny, BUzz will be along shortly!
  12. Why hide the kid??? Is she that afraid of her brother???
  13. Maybe if Konerko had a part of it that even sounded like "boner" it could work. But the two words are pronounced different, so you have to look at the thing and try and figure out how you are supposed to be pronouncing both words.
  14. That's actually a very good article, and a very truthful one. Thanks for the post!!!
  15. :headshake :headshake :headshake Close, lock, do whatever to kill this damn thread.
  16. Eh, my boss knows what to expect from me with a WS victory. I don't need to make any plans. I just need to still be drunk the next morning to set a good example for my kids.
  17. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) I bought the Greatest Hits CD way back in 1992 or 1993. My first daughter was conceived with "Faithfully" and "Open Arms" on repeat playing in the background. I'm sure all around 1986 many kids were conceived to those songs!!! I agree with nothing to be ashamed with on this topic, really. To me, food, movies, books, whatever, are all subjects of "taste" and you can't help what you like. I'm not a Journey fan, but they have their songs. They are one of those bands I find interesting to look at through time though. Now days, the media and people are rolling their eyes about the Sox listening to them. Back when Escape was released, it was considered one of the best albums of the year and was a HUGE seller. Back then, Journey was respected for being amazing musicians. Now, they are an embarrasment. It sad really.
  18. So tell the truth, am I the only "non-Journey" fan actually listening to them as of late. I'm sitting here listening to the Escape album as I type this. Yesterday I was just listening to "Don't Stop Believing", but today I decided to step into the whole dang album. By the time "Open Arms" rolls around, I'm pretty done. But there are a few good songs on it. I will say this, if the team is listening to the actual album and not some "single" version of it, I sure hope they atleast let "Stone In Love" play out, as I had forgotten how great that one song by them really is. So, any of you other people want to admit to this strange way of "pulling for the team". Come on...show me you have guts!!!
  19. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Fast track to Hell but: She's going to have to ride in the back of the hearse no matter how much protest there is. /punches.ticket But in all seriousness, America has lost a wonderful human being. On all parts: RIP Rosa, you rocked in a severe way!
  20. IMO then we really need to get Oswalt tomorrow and Backe on Wednesday. We sure don't want to face up against Clemens and Pettitte again. These guys will be on a "mission" even more so the next time around.
  21. If we win it all, then the Cubs officially become nothing more than any other team in the NL. My main reason for disliking them is the threat that they have posed to the Sox as far as what would happen if the Sox took the title first. But with a win, then eh, I don't care about them. I don't understand the extreme hatred towards them and their fans to begin with, so I really won't understand it once we have a WS under our belts. But no, I will not pay any attention to them anymore. When I go to a Cubs game in Milwaukee with my bosses, I will no longer root against them. I will just treat it 100% as my attending a baseball game of two teams I really don't care about, and that I am only their to watch a game.
  22. I could swear I heard someplace that Lou is not too fond of the Sox though.
  23. It's funny, only one of mine has a name on it. It's a Thomas...and it's a black BP.
