    Hey, they got Merlin on there and I loved that damn thing!!! But they don't have Pulsar on it.
  2. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 22, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) $264.90 As of the time I posted this. Right now Yas is pulling for more bandwagon fans.
  3. 7 were on the "take". Weaver was NOT. Weaver ended up in his situation for not ratting out his team mates. That brings out the question of what showed more integrity on his part. He stood by the people in his situation, and didn't turn them into the people that treated them like crap. 8 men were suspended: 7 were accused of taking a fall, 1 was accused of not being a fink.
  4. QUOTE(MinnySoxFan @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) If that transcript is for real he took $5,000, but he was supposed to get 20. Jackson took the money, Buck had no part of it.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) 30 year olds who have been playing professional ball for 9 years should not be eligable for Rookie of the year. Robinson Cano or Huston Street should win it. Agree 100%. You can't consider pro-ball in another country a form of the minor league.
  6. QUOTE(TLAK @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) From Joe Jackson's signed and sworn Grand Jury testimony on September 28, 1920: The original document is available at http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/f...shoelessjoe.pdf I don't want to rehash the whole black sox scandel, but my opinion is the 8 men were certainly on the take, got off in court only because throwing a baseball game was not a crime and got their justice in the life time bans. Movies and myths are quite entertaining but the first source documents are not refutable. 7 men were on the take, Buck was not. Buck has been wrongly banned and needs to be reinstated. He never took money. His only crime was trying to get to the bottom of it from the inside and not being a rat and turning them in.

  9. Tonight: I will be having nervous fits of anticipation. Saturday during the day: Nervous fits continue. Saturday evening: Park it in front of my TV with a BIG bowl of popcorn, some fine beers, and some soda/pop/fizzy beverage people get anal about naming Sunday: Repeat all of Saturday routine.
  10. Good luck, and most important of all, HAVE FUN!!!
  11. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) Good point, maybe just name. no one can ever be called shoeless joe on the sox ever again.. Haven't they created "honorary numbers" for people before?
  12. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) opening day 2006. retire shoeless Joe's jersey and have a World Series banner, we can dream..... There were no numbers then, so what would they retire? Seriously asking.
  13. But we also need the ban lifted from Buck. Buck probably won't get into the Hall, but he needs to be set free from the ban.
  14. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) He must be a child prodegy. There's something VERY funny about that one line! LOL!!!
  15. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) Ray's father is the MAN. Well, he's surely the reanimated man!!!
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) This is also why the NL complete game records are even more impressive, the pitchers needed to be pitching well enough to not get pulled for a "real" bat. So you prefer the NL?
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Of all the things that Sox fans do, welcoming new people and patiently answering their questions, is my favorite. Again...there is my love for you. Yeah, I was watching this and wondering how the poor new fella was feeling. I've been on that end of being a "newbie" and it sucks. Just answer the question and don't make the person feel like an idiot. If it was a LONG term poster, make 'em feel dumb, fine. But a new guy asking a question, just answer it or move on. Too tough to do?
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) okay. I don't have any scans. Gee, thanks.
  19. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) AHHHHH, WALK IT OFF, PITY BOY!!!! Can we get back to the actual topic, you damn trouble making hijacker!!!
  20. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) Well, I think the more this thing rolls on (and yes, even after the Series is done) people will start to realize that there is an interesting history to the White Sox. Heck, it did spawn 2 movies. How many movies are there on the Cubs? Heck, actually, wasn't the "evil" team in Major League the White Sox? Give us three movies we have been in! But only 2 dealing with the actual history. Oh...wait...Wrigley was used in A League Of Their Own...so that explains who the real star over there is.
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) EVERYBODY recently called you a geek for this post! Ya know...I've been here so long now I feel at home. I forget at times to not open up too much, as some people will still laugh at me.
  22. I have the "clinching" papers. I don't buy the paper very often. I used to all the time, but have stopped over the years. IT was like collecting comic books. All the papers needed to be bought at different times, it was like the "variant cover" epidemic that hurt comics so bad in the 90's. Did somebody recently call me a geek???
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) Sox Pitchers Batting, career (AVG/OBP): Starters… Contreras: .000/.067 Buerhle: .095/.136 Garland: .167/.231 Garcia: .194/.194 Bullpen… Cotts: 1.000/1.000 (1 AB, doubled!) Hermanson: .093/.151 Hernandez: .091/.091 Jenks: never hit Marte: .000/.000 (5 AB) Politte: .121/.189 Vizcaino: .000/.000 (2 AB) So Marte can't hit either? Why does the guy put on a uniform???
