Yup, got diddly squat. Heck, at about 15 after the hour I tried the phones after I got squat on the computer. The phones were nothing but dead air. No busy signal, no ring. I thought I forgot a number at first, then I tried about 5 more times, all to the same result. Still trying the site though, as it is down to letting you choose 1 ticket, and it kicks me out every time. How the hell do people get these things? I clicked the button, it told me the tix were not on sale yet. I click right away again (not even 10 seconds later) and it told me my option returned no available results. How the hell in 10 seconds does that happen? Ach, I make better popcorn at home, I have better beer, and I can go out and buy some Bests Dogs and onions.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) I suggest not refreshing every few seconds when noon arrives. I just attempted it right now, to have a guage of how quickly the page reloads, and a page popped up which prohibits me from accessing tickets for "several minutes." I understand its purpose;but it's been nearly 5 minutes and I still can't access the ticketpage. Don't screw yourselves trying this. NOTE: Reload more than 7 times within a short period of time and you'll come up with the warning. O.K., then I wait until my cell phone and computer read 11:59 and 59 seconds and then I hit it...right?

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) If you use different cards are you OK? Any idea? You might be risking it due to addresses.

Good luck gang!!! Hopefully a ton of us come back having nailed down some tix!

How many minutes do you keep trying? I'm sure this thing will be sold out within 10 minutes.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Whatever you do.. IF you get them from one source do NOT try to buy them from a second source. Both orders will be cancelled if the CC's match. Yeah, I just got through talking to my wife about that. We are going to have our cell phones set-up to text message if one of us gets through to kill the others attempts.

Anybody notice this:

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...season/alcs.jsp Are you that hapless? They just opened that up. That page didn't have those buttons earlier.

I've told all of my buying people to just try and get tickets, if they succeed and I do get more than I need, to NOT sell theirs, and I will gladly take them and get them their money back. Hopefully I will get my four, and even bigger hopefully I will end up with a ton of extras. If everybody I have calling gets some, I will end up with about 30 extra tickets. But who am I fooling? I'll be popping popcorn at home on Saturday night.

I was just thinking you might be getting a "please hold" type of thing. Anybody trying to get them online?
-
My wife just tried and she got through, with the Chicago number.

Are we supposed to be calling already?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) I see Miss America has joined the discussion, why don't you Come Sail Away? Look here Mr. Roboto, it's High Time you take a Midnight Ride since you're obviously Born For Adventure and are such a Lonely Child, Babe. Since this is the First Time in a long time (and we may be living on Borrowed Time) that the Sox are in the World Series, and we are just waiting for The Grande Finale, we should get along. But obviously you think you're The Great White Hope and you have to spend your time mocking me. So why don't you and the other Superstars get through this little Cold War?

Nobody can take away your own fandom. Right now, we want the bandwagon people there because we need them there to help make that park as noisey as possible right now. Remember, no team in the world has enough die-hard fans to fill up the stadiums. It needs bandwagon fans to fill it. With the ticket situation, I have no problem with bandwagon people buying the tickets, or even Cub fans. My sole problem is with the brokers buying up all of the tickets. If it was a simple battle between me and a Cub fan sitting next to me on the computer, cool, let the best connection win. But those brokers? f*** them all. I have it worse, since I share a work complex with them. They're a bunch of rude asshole's to begin with, and then to think of what they do for a living? Bastards.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) If I was you, I'd be concerned that I had "Too Much Time On My Hands". Look Lady, just ignore Tex's Grande Illusion.

The four obvious: Kid, Buck, Eddie, and Joe. Then the rest of 1919 and 1920. My grandfather who I recently found out was a pretty big Sox fan. He also played some pro-ball, and was buddies with Charles Finley. Also played pro-football opposite George Hallas and was friends with him. My Dad, who due to bad situations, won't even be able to watch or listen to the games. The guy I kept seeing at every game I would go to for awhile there, and saw getting heckled something terrible at a Cubs/Sox game at Wrigley. Somebody here might know him, he has a fake leg. I've seen that guy at a bunch of games. Win it for anybody that wore these colors on or off the field and was always proud of them.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Some of those other names, though = Not really meaningful baseball related names, though XD The guy already gets the award for "dumbest nickname in baseball history" IMO though.

W? "Wuss" Rod? "Walk" Rod? "Win" Rod? "Waffle" Rod? "Wink" Rod? "Waddle" Rod? "Wally" Rod?

Honestly, if we win it all, I don't think I will have any "hatred" of the Cubs or their fans again. I just want my team to get there first, after that, I don't care what the Cubs and their fans do or say. Heck, as of now even, there is no other team in this town, IMO.

EAT SHIT, JOE BUCK AND TIM McCARVER!!!!!!!
Kid Gleason replied to TheBigHurt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I've kind of been picking up from different places that McCarver was kind of pulling for the Sox. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) Is it because they pay taxes on their profits? I guess that would make sense. Maybe if drug dealers started paying taxes, they also could be legal.

Cub Fan: We got 35,000 opening day at Wrigley Sox fan: Well we sold out on October 22nd, 23rd, 29th AND 30th. How about you?

Can anybody explain why a ticket broker such as Tickets Now is NOT considered scalpers? I have a ticket now right in the same building with me (there are only two offices here really, us and them), and I just don't get how that is a legal business.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Agreed. That would be as bad as coming home from prom night and still having that unused rubber in your wallet! I used mine on prom night. Problem is it was used to make a balloon animal. Wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't one of those "spermicidal" ones. Yuck.

Well, I will freely admit to being scared at times. But I never left the team, never stopped watching (though I said I would...I just couldn't stop...), and never stopped wearing the clothes. I've watched them and supported them during the lowsy times, so why would I have stopped when they were still in first. But I still don't think the "doubters" were wrong in having their doubts. These guys made it REALLY scary in those last few weeks.
