QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) Seriously, who doesn't like George Wendt? I don't like Wendt. He was funny as Norm, but he has always come across as a jerk in interviews.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) I don't have to listen to any of these announcers...since I'll be at all the games. Have fun on Boston.

So...am I the only one who has noticed that in game 1 the announcers were talking mostly about the White Sox? Then in game 2, when it looked like the Red Sox were going to blow out the White Sox they were talking mostly about Boston. Then when the White took over, it kind of went to a neutral ground, with some East Coast bias? These guys swing from the sack of whoever is winning or playing the better ball at the time. When Boston is winning, thier true colors show a little more, but that's fine with me. I would almost rather know that these guys are fans of certain teams, then just being fans of whoever pays them. It kind of bothers me to know that some of the announcers out there are only fans of who pays. Has anybody heard Dave Wills with the Rays this year? Is he sucking them as he did us for years? That would be more annoying to me than the ESPN guys. Berman also apologized on air to Hawk last night for ruining his call, and said he knew most of Chicago would much rather be hearing Hawk at that moment, and that Hawk was one of his favorite announcers. So let it go that he f***ed up Hawk's call. Right now I would MUCH rather have Hawk in the booth, but it ain't going to happen. I may as well also start wishing for Joe Jackson himself to step into the box and Buck Weaver to take Crede's spot at third to stop those Crede goofs from the past few days. Mike Greeneberg this morning said he was a diehard Yankees fan. That bothered me more than any of these nutswingers. Greenie spent years here, but obviously that effected him none.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) The music is the same, the vocals sounded diff to me. By the way, someone told me that dude had totally lost his voice. Talk about sick luck. That'd be like a photgrapher waking up blind or a ballplayer losing his legs. He musta freaked out. They still suck.... by the way. I agree, they still suck. I would need to hear a better copy than the crap steaming...er...streaming files from Amazon. He sounds the same through that. Mind you, I will not be going to any great effort to hear them though, it was only curiosity doing the damage on the cat that made me go to that effort.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) Not a fan of these guys, but last night in the car I was listening to XRT. They mentioned The Spin Doctors have a new record out. They also said the group had taken a long break because their singer had lost his voice due to 'vocal paralysis'. Anyone know the story or familiar with this condition? Do you lose the ability to make any sound at all? By the way, they played a new song and his vocals sound different now but their music still sucks...errr, I mean, is not to my liking. I don't know, I'm checking it out on Amazon right now, and they sound EXACTLY the same. Music is the same, voice is the same. I'm waiting though, maybe a song will wander along that doesn't sound like them, and maybe that is what you heard, but so far, nah, it's the same ol' crap.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) I'm always on the look out for acoustic versions of rock classics. Of course, I've the "easy to find" ones like Clapton's "Layla". If anyone has any available, I'd sure appreciate any help in collecting these that I can get. Do you mean stuff done by the same artist? If you want to hear some KILLER cover tunes, done acoustic, check out Michael Hedges versions of stuff like "All Along The Watchtower", "Comfortably Numb", "Come Together" and "Love Bazare". Just him and his guit-fiddle, and they are amazing.

QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) what the hell, apparantly i didn't have the REAL fionna apple, i'm so pissed, this is just soo out of place next to jon brions version...i'm really dissappointed i hate DMB but this is much like lillywhite vs. that DB who did everyday

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) That's exactly what Ozzie should do. Pick his spot and get inside his head. Tell the umpire, where Wells can hear, to watch his actions for anything suspicious. I don't think you can beat Wells mentally. Mind tricks don't work for him. You just have to hope he isn't on his game, and then take advantage of that. Or you wear him down. He's too much like a Maddux, you can't give him a personal vendetta, because he'll kill you.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) You people who are so cocky will be best served by not commenting. I don't CARE that Boston doesn't have the pitching. IMO, yesterday's game makes them even MORE dangerous. This is kind of like wounding the tiger. The tiger comes back at you even more pissed off. David Wells is a fatass, but he's a very smart fat ass. Don't count these guys out yet. You NEVER underestimate your opponent in the playoffs until the series is over. THEN you underestimate them while you're celebrating. PERIOD. Any other mindset, write down some tee times for next week. Today's game is the one I am most afraid of. Schilling? He hasn't been right all year. But even he might be dangerous. Just watch for him to bring out the stained sock. But yes, no reason to get puffy chested yet, and all the reason in the world to sit on the edge of your seat for a roller coaster that boards at about 6:05PM tonight.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) best inning of the year. period.

This inning has got to be KILLING Clement! If he was nervous to begin with...eesh...
-
OH MAN!!! This is pretty friggin' wild stuff!!! Somebody is playing like a championship team in the first!
-
Wow...Matt must be a little nervous.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Nice bunt by Tads. Keep in mind that pods was perfect this year in stealing 3rd base... I wouldn't steal with a righty though. Not yet though.
-
Why don't we like bunting there? I'm fine with it.
-
How did Frank do? Anybody see footage?
-
So far this is exciting stuff. This baseball stuff...it might catch on with the kids.

Dammit. Easily the best store bought cookies have always been Famous Amos. Well, a guy comes in from the field today complaining about Famous. He tells us that they sold out to Keebler. So sure enough, we grab a bag bought last week, and put it next to a new bag bought this week, and sure enough, they have been bought out. That would be fine...BUT THEY CHANGED THE COOKIE!!! They don't taste the same anymore and now taste more like all of Keeblers other cookies. It's a black day in Cookieland... Oh well, I guess I revert back to nothing but homemade. RIP Amos, you ruled.
-
This is friggin' crazy! Damn I wish I could watch this!!! I have to miss the first 1+ though. URGH.
-
2 hours to first pitch, and we have 14 pages already!?! Good Lord, we will top 100 for sure.

Thank Wire! I wrote this on another board I frequent:

I believe it was the 1918 Series that the Cubs threw, to the Bo Sox.

QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) He shoulda been the new lead singer of Queen. NOT Paul Rodgers. Nah, Rodgers can actually sing. Freddie loved Paul also. The Darkness guy CAN'T sing. Listen when he goes high, he still sounds like it is a strain on him. Freddie, it was all so natural. This guy just squeals most of the time, Freddie sang.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) He's third from the left, wearing the yelow tinted glasses to hide his stoner eyes. And where the hell is the love for WXRT? Sure, the DJs all have hard-on for the same handful of bands and don't give enough airplay to some good new stuff, but I still think they're a model FM station for musicheads by musicheads. I got pummled by a boss that would only let us listen to XRT. I swear to God, the Beatles were calling in saying that they had heard enough Beatles stuff!!!
