Ummm, I quit college for my band. Smart move. Oh sure, I had tons of fun, and I kept with the bands for years, but I sure didn't "make it". But yeah, I stopped college a year and a half into it.

I know, I wasn't directing it at you.

Your ticket Hell is at the front gate...please pick it up.

I love Drumsticks.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) What?!? are you on a mission to out-obscure and out-irrelevent even ME with 30 year old pop culture refs?!? Bring it on! Everytime I see the word "Juggs" I wait for somebody to make the reference. I had to finally do it.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) who played? It was the vocalist from Rusted Root, Michael Gamblicki. The National Anthem was the guitarist from local band The Lovehammers. http://www.lovehammers.com/

I was going to say "of course there is, just ask Juggs to break out his abicus and he'll show you". ***all in good humor Juggs. Same to you Mother and Speed.***

QUOTE(bulokis @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) If a batter swing and a miss but the ball was not caught by the catcher, that is still a strike out but he has to be tagged out or thrown out at 1st. Well I know that, but the question was "Why". I was looking for a reason, such as with the infield fly being like it is to prevent the set-up for the double play and tricking the batter and runners. That's all.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) The put out is recorded by the catcher who completes the play. The swing and a miss is only part of the play, just like grounding to the second baseman is only part of a routine out at first. The offensive team has to complete the play, which is either the catcher catching the ball, or the batter/runner being tagged out. Continuing the analogy, the first baseman could drop the throw from second but could still pick up the ball and tag the runner or base on the force. Clearer? Yup, that about does it. I knew I could count on you. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) I've always thought of it as basically a wild pitch. If the ball hits the dirt...it is considered a wild pitch, and the runner has an opportunity to move up. In this case, he's moving up from home to first, instead of moving from another base as would be the case given a "normal" wild pitch. I always saw it like that also, but then I was asked "then why can't you run on any wild pitch" so I knew there had to be more to it. I explained it as 'when the ball hits the dirt, that ends that play, and the new one is now in effect and has to be ended with the tag', so i think I was close.

But why does the batter get to run on the drop?

I understand being a fan of Cusack's, as I am one, and he is a really good actor. But Belushi??? JIM Belushi??? How does one admit to being a fan of his and still hold any dignity???
-
Can somebody explain the purpose of the rule? Somebody was just asking me and all I could really say was "it just is...". It's not like the Infield Fly where there is a logical reason for it, from what I can tell. What exactly is the purpose?

Molina throws with the right, he got hit on the left. It has been well noted that his throwing was NOT effected by being hit. edit: DAMN YOU KNIGHT, DAMN YOU!!! Beat me out on the smart posts will you???
-
It is rather disheartening that he would have gone to the Cubs. I mean, how do you play The Ginger Kid, and do such a great job in that movie, and then turn it around and go to that side? I really like Cusack as an actor, but I have always heard he is a prick in person.

While at the game last night, I picked AJ for mine. I felt pretty dang cool about that one.

If we win tonight, I will be O.K. and comfy. A loss tonight and I will be in full panic mode. But even that won't be too bad. This team has been a pleasure to watch for most of the season, and with maybe one of two slight roster moves (and all it really needs is a return of a BIG bat), and we will be pretty dang special nex year. But for the remainder of this year, I still think we have a heck of a shot at the AL title. The World Series...well...the Cardinals scare the crap out of me.

QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) tell me this doesn't happen to everyone!!! It happened to me. But I was...ummm...23 or so. I started playing all the time with my band, between live shows and practice I had music balring in my ears 7 days a week. When we weren't playing, I was at friends shows running lights for them. With my band, we would walk off stage, and they would go and hang out. I would pack my gear into my car and go home. After shows I NEVER listened to music in the car, and always went to talk radio. After awhile, if I wasn't on the stage, I had no interest in being at a show. Lately, it is the hassle of getting to shows. Trying to find parking in the city, shows during the week, trying to find parking in the city, having to drive all the way to the city, trying to find parking in the city, etc. all leads to a real easy thing to not do anymore. I haven't played out in eons, but plan to starting next year again. I expect it might go the same way as before, but I don't plan on it. I play a totally different style now, and I won't be assaulted by some annoying 16 year olds crappy band anymore...I hope. p.s. yes, I was one of those 16 year olds with a crappy band, so before you complain to me about "dissing" your crappy band, don't. In 10 years you will hear your band and go "man, did we suck!". Trust me...you will.

I don't think anybody is just assuming we will win, but you have to admit that things are going better than we could have hoped for them to go for the opposition. The only way it could get better would be for them to tie it up and go into massive extra innings. But as of now, I like the way this game is turning out. I would rather see both teams perform like this, then one of them get a rush from winning, than both teams play brilliantly and then one get even hotter from winning.
-
Not only that, but both teams look lethargic. Everybody looks like they are asleep.
-
Oh my God...both of these teams look TERRIBLE tonight!!! Please, let them play like this for the next week! LOL!!!

Anybody ever go to Fall Diddly up at the Belvidere fair grounds?
-
If you say Ditka = Chicago, then are you also following the Cubs, since to most of the world Cubs = Chicago?
-
On Mike and Mike this morning he said that Chicago has always been a Northside town. Then he praised Ozzie a bit. Ditka's a twit, I've always hated that man. Annoying as hell. He can keep rooting the northside for all I care. But ya know what? Take what I say with a grain of salt, I hate football. And yeah Josh...ya dork...how can you be a fan of somebody you never saw coach/manage a game? How can you be a fan of something you weren't around to experience? Sheesh...what a moron...

You mean the people you met actually had faces attached to them, and you knew it was REALLY them???
