QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) ??? I have no idea what you are talking about. I am flattered you remember a thread from the off season that I responded to. But to be honest, I didn't even recognize your screen name. I do know that after 35 years as a Sox fan, I enjoyed this season tremendously, and that is a successful season in my book. This is entertainment, not life and death, I've seen enough of that. I have watched too many people achieve goals and reach new heights, without winning the whole thing, to know what success and failure is. Each and everyone of them were successes, not failures, in my book. To think that only the final person standing is a success and everyone else is a failure, is wrong in my book. Every kid that learns to ride a bike is a success, whether he wins the Tour de France or not. Every shy kid who takes 6 months to ask a special girl out is a success, whether she says yes or not, and it especially doesn't matter if they marry or not. So I reject your truth that this team needs to win the WS or else the season is a failure. And this is why I say "I love you".

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) Cotts can hit, not that he'll get much of a chance to - hopefully. Mark is OK, Jon is a whiffer. Garcia can not hit to save his life. Not sure about Jose. Anyone else just shaking their heads as some of the effed up questions being posted the past few days..? Jose looks like he should be a home run hitter. He just looks like he should hit.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Go ahead and call me an idiot, I don't mind Nah...I love you.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) So was 59.. Falling into the trap...sorry... Why do you even follow a team that has been a COMPLETE failure for all but 3 years of it's existence then???

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) ....geek..... Oh come on... you should know that by now.

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) I have the White Sox Encyclopedia at home. I don't know if it has team pictures but if it does I can scan them and provide them tomorrow. SFF I have it also, but they are not the largest of pictures. Trust me, the book is what I have been holding like a Teddy Bear during every single post season game.

It's against the new rules to call somebody an "idiot"...right? Just want to make sure before I do so.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) Why not 1919? I have a 1919 poster on my wall here. It's not the team photo, but the poster used to promote the team back then. No, it's not original and is a scan of it, but I am not rich, ya know. It's mainly for a "superstitious" reason right now. Good luck charms so to speak. I have nothing against the 1919 team...obviously.
-
Damn...so I need to go out and get the Trib? Is it a paper cover or good stock?
-
Does anybody have good sized scans of the 1906, 1917, and 1959 teams pictures? I have pictures of them, but all of them are too small.

Baseball season starts, I look like a total sports freak. Always wearing baseball stuff. Baseball season ends, I go back to the normal look, as for me, there are no other sports. This is all there is to me. edit: I do wear Sox gear all year long, just not as much. It gets chilly with the lersey's.

Comiskey Park security bubble to be in place

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) I'm sure sceurity will be tight, but I bet a lot of this is a bluff. The red line for example, is within a block of the park. So if I lived in the neighborhood, got off at 35th to go home, I'll have a problem? I'm sure you'll have to show that you live in the area, or be turning AWAY from the park. If anything, I am expecting it to be even more strict than they are saying it will be. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Actually I am pretty positive about our offense in this one. The Astro pitchers are hard throwing guys who pound the inside. As much as I have abused our offense during the year for not going oppo, this could be just the trick for a pull fastball team. We cannot hit guys who throw 85-88 and spot a fastball on the outside corner. Those guys are like kryptonite to our guys. But hard throwers like Cabrera in Baltimore who feature a 98 mph fastball we light up like a christmas tree. All of the pitchers are fastball pitchers who pound inside. The only one that looks like he should give our guys fits is Backe because of his slider. But Roy has funky motion and delivery. I think that could hurt a team that has never seen him before. I expect Iguchi to be fine with him though, for some reason.
-
I really, really, really want to see the first pitch thrown, and not in news highlights.
-
I think that is it. The Houston pitching scares me...a lot, nothing else on that team does. We have an answer for all of their hitters. We just go deeper than they do in the rotation and in the 'pen. But they have Lidge, but he proved to be hittable. I think he may have proven to not be great in an uber-tense situation.

Does anybody know if Comcast or anybody will be doing pregame stuff tomorrow, and if so at what time? If they could do batting practice before the Sox/Cubs games, I would expect they would do SOMETHING tomorrow. Why hasn't ESPN done a Sox History special like they have done for the Yankees and everybody else? I know...I know...East Coast biased and all that bunk, but still, it would be a really cool special. Again, it would give me something to watch in the meantime. I don't know about you lot, but I need coverage to start TONIGHT just to settle these nerves a bit. I need this stuff to start right now, and if I had coverage until tomorrow night, I could trick myself into believing it has started already.

Ya know...that is a big ass joint ol' Bob is smokin' there. Not sure why I just thought that. Seen the cover a million times, and it just now made me think "damn...that's big".
-
Wasn't it Cooper that gave them the name? They later signed a photo of the three of themselves for him, or so I had heard.

It's one of those songs that I enjoy for the "nostalgia" factor. It was everywhere when it came out, and it brings back a TON of great memories when I was a kid. Journey is one of those bands that does that. You can't deny the song, with the way the drumming works in it, has a great feel to it. There is no wonder why it was a massive hit. You can dislike Journey, but there is no way anybody can deny the amazing talent those guys have. Heck, they were Santana once upon a time ya know.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) No, you couldn't. I've seen real signed bats, how much do they go for? I didn't look at the price, I just "oogled" it. Are there even any for this team out there?
-
Had to go with the "could". I hate arrogance.

QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) I couldn't watch any of those three..3rd rock is one of those shows like Everybody Loves Raymond...Highy rated and touted shows, but I can't find anybody who likes it, or even watched them to be honest.. I love 3rd Rock and Raymond.
-
Are you going to take it to the batting cages? Seriously, that is a cool bat. Wish I had the money. Hey...I never did get those Series tickets...
-
President Bush hates the Sox. He's the reason we almost started to choke. Bastard.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Seriously?! No way, you have GOT to be s***tin' me! Nope...saw it in the paper this morning.
